Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Google and SEOmoz both crawl the web differently and don't crawl everything.  And Google should be crawling a lot more then SEOmoz.  So with that said, you will see differences in their indexes. • Hi David, Great question. I'm not sure if that's possible or not, I know there are a lot of options via Linkscape's API but you're talking about Crawl Reports and that's a separate issue entirely. I'd suggest asking the SEOMoz Staff about it... I'd love to know my self. To submit a ticket: https://seomoz.zendesk.com/home Contact SeoMoz Help: help@seomoz.org If it's not currently possible you might want to add it to the Request a Feature page. Thanks, Anthony

  • Hi Sean, Good point, and this is a common issue with link metrics. I believe the metrics used to calculate most Moz metrics were recently tweaked and the models used to calculate them all adjusted by the in house data scientist, Dr. Matt Peters. I can't tell you exactly how every link is valued, but I can say that over time, Moz has tried to model thier metirics (MozTrust, DomainAuthority, MozRank) in ways that reflect real-world link metrics. That said, in spite of the great progress, it remains a game of cat-and-mouse game with Google. We can guess how Google values certain links, but Moz metrics are far more likely to count links that Google is likely to disregard. In the end, as you have discovered, you often have to use your own eyes and judgement when evaluating links past the initial qualifying stage.

  • Personally, I think your traffic expectations are a bit unrealistic. You're looking for a 800% increase in traffic in one years time. I'm not saying it's impossible, but as the other commenters noted you are better off trying to bring in more qualified traffic that converts. The companies that sell you on the 100k/month number are the same ones who will likely put you in danger of penalty.

  • Hey TJ, For your example there would be an easy solution: 301 redirect (it will take up a lot of time but, then you will be redirecting both users and search engines to one of the version) Canonical (it will not redirect the user, instead it will tell Search Engines that the page that they are looking for is the one specified in the canonical link) A more visual explanation of this issue can be found on a great post of Dr. Pete. Check it out: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/an-seos-guide-to-http-status-codes I hope that helped, Istvan

  • Hi Alex - have you considered using a format such as this for your title tags - Word | Brand Name However to actually answer your question it is fine to use hyphens I have several well ranked pages that use a hyphen in the title tag and this has not caused me any issues - out ranking sites that don't use the hyphen format. The thing I would think about though is having your brand regularly coming before anything else in the title tag that's why I suggested the format above - just a suggestion. You can still rank well for branded keywords with your brand being second in the title tag order.

  • We are seeing some campaigns drop down to crawling just one page. Emailing help@seomoz.org and getting in touch with the help team is the best thing at this point. So sorry for the rude awakening on a Monday morning!

  • If it is automatically generated, then you should bring this up to your Dev team and have them investigate.  One of the biggest issues I see is auto generating sitemaps daily. Good Luck

  • Hey! You can set up a campaign under a domain like Example.com then you can also just track a subfolder on that specific domain in another campaign. Just select the "subfolder" option when you set up the campaign and you can track www.example.com/blog.

  • Hi Mcarle, I'm Rob - I built Linkstant. Linkstant monitors for clicks on a link to your site that it hasn't seen before. If you put the Linkstant code on a new site, or just on new pages, then you'll only know about new links. If you put the code on pages that have been around for a while and have a bunch of links already, then I'm afraid it will alert you when it discovers those old links for a while. You could consider turning off the email alerts for a time, while it discovers all those old links, or you might just chose to the put the code on new content. Hope this helps; let me know if you have any other questions! Rob

  • Beauty, thanks. Strange - the url that I entered directed to the correct location, but in the past day the www. has been removed and replaced with a *, hence the lack of pages crawled. Is that an update feature of SEOMoz? Is my best recourse to delete the campaign and start over?

  • Possibly. Another possibility is that it doesn't even matter - I recall you said that the URL's from OSE landed you on dead (presumably 404) pages. So if the duplicate content is not actually there in reality (ie, when you visit the page), it might just be an error or an artifact of OSE's crawl procedures meeting with some weird code in Miva. But yeah if you feel like hiring a "Miva pro" is what you need to do then that could be a good idea too - I'm really not in a position to say either way, with my lack of experience with the software and all. Best of luck anyway.
