Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • We did update yesterday afternoon. Check out our blog post at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/mozscape-update-our-largest-index-yet-159-billion-urls and add a comment or send an email to help if you're still having any problems.

  • I have up to 40 tabs open in firefox and a machine with only 2GB of RAM and the seomoz toolbar installed and there is no slowing down due to the seomoz toolbar it must be being caused by something else!

  • Thanks Nick, changing the settings for cookies by itself didn't fix this. FYI I had to do everything you suggested and then uninstall the toolbar before reinstalling it. This worked and everything is fine now but where I had tried uninstalling and reinstalling before, without the cookies tweaks it didn't cure the issue. Thanks for you assistance

  • Thank you for the update NIck. I've noticed that the same reports are still 'stuck' where they were 6 hours, should I cancel them and just start new ones you think?

  • Hey there! That is a good idea. The most you can do now is export monthly and weekly report form our Reports tab in the web app. You could compare them from there also. We have some great documentation on custom reports here: http://www.seomoz.org/help/custom-reports

  • When you look in OSE, it shows 35 LRD but right above the large metrics is the small print "Link metrics for the page http://thisisouryear.com/". The key word is "page". If you look at the SEOmoz tool bar it offers three sets of link metrics: the page, the sub-domain and the root domain. If you look at the page metrics for the URL you will see it shows as 35 LRD. If you look at the root domain metrics, it shows 1015 LRD. As an additional note, this particular directory does not warrant any analysis. It is a pay-for-link directory which charges $25 for links and then you choose if you want a follow or nofollow link. If you choose nofollow, then the link is not worth paying money. If you choose follow, then you are violating Google's policies as this site is not compliant with them. You would therefore subject yourself or your client to penalties. Google is coming down hard on manipulative links and their removal is the most painful penalty to deal with in SEO. The overwhelming majority of directories are manipulative links. If you obtain a link from a directory, please be sure they comply with Google's guidelines.

  • Hey Dan, Here's the answer from Adam at SEOmoz on 3/19/2012. "Supporting https is definitely in the plans, but it's a big project (following some other big projects) for the Linkscape team. Our current plan is to address this in during the last quarter of this year. I apologize for the wait." 3NQ66

  • Thank you Cyrus for that great article link. And like that article states near the end, it touches on a common problem for those of us that assume all the info at SeoMoz is accurate even though it may not be current. (not only seomoz to be fair) I've found several instances where even authorities change their mind or google changes is for them? But anyways, it appears using canonical or meta tags would be the better solution. Unfortunately, neither is possible in Squarespace. I had just about decided to change the robots.txt , get rid of the disallow: /category/ , and call it a day. But then I found an example where the noindex was used in the robots.txt file of a squarespace website (specializing in SEM among other things). Probably the "longest" robots list I've ever seen! http://www.hunchfree.com/robots.txt Would it be a good idea to use noindex, FOLLOW in the robots.txt  for /category/ (if that's even possible) or just keep with my "call it a day" solution...at least where robots.txt is concerned. BTW- I posted a similar question on the reasoning behind the robots.txt for ss websites at the developers forum- nothing but crickets. Unless it's about design, things pretty much drop like a rock. Oh well.

  • The above rel canonical on the page is perfectly fine. They should not be reason for your ranking drop and can be left untouched. However, make sure that all pages have canonical set as respective page URLs. These are generally added give a directive to search engines about the one version of URL to be indexed. Reasons for the same can be numerously like reducing duplicate content on the site (especially ecommercce site) to ensuring the link value passes to main URL where people link to your pages using utm parameters. You can read more about canonical tags here: http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=139394

  • no i dont think it can, It certainly wont affect PageRank, page rank has nothing to do with on-page see http://thatsit.com.au/seo/tutorials/a-simple-explanation-of-pagerank As i stated before, the over optimization penalties, are for un-natural links, keyword stuffing, not for having a well optimized page. SEOMoz on-page, advises you not to keyword stuff. the over optimization penalties would be better named, spam penalties.
