Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • As part of your campaign you can't; however, if you want to run a crawl check out http://pro.moz.com/tools/crawl-test.  It won't update your campaign but is a great way to get information from your site.

  • Hey Dan, I had kind of assumed that it might be a false alarm from the Moz scan. I typically use Xenu to check for broken links periodically and it hasn't shown any. Thanks for the tip!

  • There are wordpress plugins you can use to modify your robots.txt, wordpress makes it difficult. http://yoast.com/example-robots-txt-wordpress/ Also, make sure it is an important page for your blog- Google is just being proactive on your behalf, it might be an irrelevant page to your overall plan.

  • Hi Guys, Cheers for the feedback, much appreciated - for a while I thought I was loosing my mind or just being a n00b. I have inherited the Power SEO Suite rank checking tool so at least I now have a consistent perspective on the rankings but I would like to use multiple sources so I will look into the Advanced Web Ranking software you mentioned Karl. Im in a similar position as yourself Allen with Google being the primary focus. Dave

  • A1. Repeating keywords on a page has diminishing returns; however, if you aren't using the keyword you can't expect to rank for it.  In some cases one exact match keyword may be enough if you are using synonyms throughout the content.  The number of times you should use a keyword also depends on how long the copy of hte page is - the longer the page the more keywords you can incorporate without it sounding unnatural. I always try and use a keyword in the first sentence of a page, and the last sentence of a page.  If you can naturally fit it into the content a few more times it will not hurt you.  I'm assuming SEOmoz grading is based on correlation studies.  They must have seen 4 keyword mentions correlates with higher rankings.  Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHYA5gAsRBA A2. Stick to one H1 tag.  I like to think of it in a couple ways: The H1 tag may not even be a ranking signal, but rather that H1 tags are traditionally used at the top of a page.  Is the H1 tag the ranking signal or simply mentioning the keyword at the top of a page the ranking signal?  Having more than 1 H1 tag is unnecessary and may just send a red flag to Google that your are over optimising. If the H1 tag IS a viable ranking signal, then the more you use it on a page the less effective it may be.  If I have a paragraph and I bold every other word and ask someone to pick out the most important word it is going to be very difficult.  If I have a paragraph and only bold one word and ask someone to pick out the most important word it is very easy. A3.  Not really sure what you are referring to, but SEOmoz does have its own software to crawl your site and gather the information presented in your Moz campaign.  Additionally, the information in OpenSiteExplorer is their own. A4. Rankings and traffic are never, and should never be, guaranteed in SEO.  However, if you are paying attention to these elements and optimizing properly I'm sure you will see some results.

  • Hi Christopher, This is a known issue, we have a fix in place that allows you to move the toolbar to different places, but we know this is not perfect. The reason it functions differently to FF is Chrome treats extensions as part of the page (i.e. you 'inject' the HTML/CSS/Javascript) into the page, where an FF extensions get their own section of the header.  This causes complexity when it comes to the 'injected' code interacting with the existing page, resulting in annoying issues like hidden pages, and javascript errors. We have some ideas about how we want to address this in a future, for example, we have talked about having a more solid concept of on/off, perhaps activated by the browser extension button, and maybe a blacklist of sites that it would automatically turn off for (e.g. GMail, JIRA).  Watch this space.... If you have any ideas I would love to hear them! Jon Jon

  • Thank you, Abe. The on-page optimization reports are rather helpful for a newbie like me. We saw a 30% increase in organic traffic again last week, so I'm pretty excited to continue down this path!

  • Hello, What I have done in the past, is that after some fixes have been put in place, I will delete those error messages in I assume your Webmaster Tools account, and then see if they return. If they don't, then looks like your issue has been solved. If they do, then you may need to reevaluate and see if another fix would help correct your error.

  • Hey Arian, Thanks for writing in and sorry that the interaction section of your social reports are looking off. Unfortunately, we have some connection issues between our current tool and the APIs for Facebook and Twitter. I'm afraid that the APIs can throw us 503 errors so we aren't able to pull the interactions data through from them. The traffic information actually comes from Google Analytics so this issue wouldn't affect your traffic data. We are working to fix this issue with the release of Moz Analytics, but I'm afraid that it will continue to be an issue with the PRO platform. I apologize for the inconvenience this causes. • Hi Philip! This question is a bit intricate. With AJAX content like this, I know Google's full specifications https://developers.google.com/webmasters/ajax-crawling/docs/specification indicate that the #! and ?escaped_fragment= technique works for their crawlers. However, Roger is a bit picky and isn't robust enough yet to use only the sitemap as the reference in this case. Luckily, one of our wonderful users came up with a solution using pushState() method. Click here: http://www.moz.com/blog/create-crawlable-link-friendly-ajax-websites-using-pushstate to find out how to create crawl-able content using pushState. The only other thing I can think of is to run a crawl test if the site is live. You'll have to remove the noindex tag, but updating the robots.txt to allow rogerbot but have a wildcard disallow for the other crawlers should still keep the site from being indexed. Hopefully this will help! Best, Sam Moz Helpster

  • Moz Analytics will likely have many of the features you're looking for, but unfortunately custom reporting is still a few months off. At the lower price points (non-enterprise) there's not a ton of good reporting options out there, and most folks I suspect do something similar to what you're doing now - Cut and Paste different reports together into something that hopefully looks semi-professional. Look for the new custom reports to launch this fall (fingers crossed)

  • Open your campaign, click the "On-page" link beneath the name of your campaign and chose your page from the list of keywords/URL beneath the On Page Optimization Reports.  The  the "Page Analysis Detail" on the next page shows you the important factors for the page.
