Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • As far as I know, there is no way of preventing those subdirectories from being included in the the .com's campaign except by use of the robots.txt, which you wouldn't want to do since you do need those crawled for their individual campaigns.  It would be nice to be able to "deselect" pages or folders from an existing campaign, wouldn't it.  You could include that in a feature request to the Moz, if you wanted.

  • Why the .net is ranking and the .com is was the first question that went through my mind too. Looking at the link profiles for the two domains the first impression is that the .com domain should rank because it's got loads more links than the .net domain. Virtually all of these links come from the .net variant of the domain. If you look a bit closer you'll see that wireless.com has external links from wireless-alarms.net & resonsesecurityweek.com. (And wireless-alarms.net is redirected to .com so I'm sure google wouldn't count these.) Wireless.net has links from: cheviotsecurity.co.uk & saboteurcrimeprevention.com. So out of the two, the .net looks marginally stronger.

  • It means that you have 9 further keywords ranking from position 4 - 10. It specifies the top 3 because, as you know, these are the sought after positions and take the majority of the clicks.

  • Yes it helped! Thank you very much I really appreciate the time and effort you put into responding. I just have a few additional questions. 1. I expected some sort of penalty because a sample of the backlinks I analyzed (which their previous SEO firm built) were of the spammy blog comment variety or 404's (I reckon it's best to just disavow these ones?). Is there a template or something I can use as a guide for emailing webmasters a backlink removal request (With the proper instructions of how to within it). Also thank you for recommending Link Detox. What do you thin k of http://www.removeem.com/self-serve.php as Thomas suggested? It seems to be vetted by Moz and they have an automatic service for contacting webmasters. It must be insane trying to contact 4000+ webmasters. How do you even organize something like that? 2. I'm afraid I was not being clear. My issue is not domain migration after all. I think the issue is just a canonical issue. Basically they were using a very bulky CMS and I used wordpress to redesign their website. I also moved them to a faster dedicated server. The nameserver has not yet been pointed to the new server yet. The problem is some of their old URLs look something like oldpage/old-section1.html and on the new wordpress site everything is neater /more-descriptive-new-page/ So this is just a canonical issue correct? I just have to sort through all their pages and find the corresponding one on the new site? 3. I put up a temporary redirect just to do some quick A/B URL split testing on the entire website. I thought it might be a bad idea but I wanted to get some preliminary results in as visual website optimizer did not do the job for me that I wanted.

  • Hi David, That's got to be disappointing! There are a few different things that could be going on, either with our crawler or the links themselves, that might be causing them not to be picked up by OSE. Without knowing what the links are, it's difficult to diagnose what the issue might be. Could you please send us an email to help@moz.com with some examples of the links you're seeing that aren't showing up in OSE? We'd love to get this resolved for you.

  • Follow the Google Guidelines if you want Google to index your site is my suggestion. I took a couple of long phrases from your site, and found them in several other places on the web. The duplicate content isn't helping, in addition to the things mentioned previously.

  • You can manually crawl up to 3000 URLs at http://pro.moz.com/tools/crawl-test.

  • Open Site Explorer (OSE) and Majestic have their own indexes, with different URLS in them. OSE currently has 77 billion URLS in it's index, and Majestic has 438 billion unique URLS in it's Fresh index. There is some overlap, but they are not identical datasets. Neither will have ALL the backlinks going to your site. If you look at Google Webmaster Tools or Google Analytics, you tend to see some additional URLs linking back to you in there. If you can afford to use both OSE and Majestic, then do that, otherwise pick one and try to work with that. Hope that helps, James

  • Try turning personalized search off, using an URL like this: https://www.google.com/search?q=keywords+to+find&gl=us&pws=0 At least for me, what I see there matches what Moz shows, although those are the results shown to a person in god knows what location with personalized search off, they match Mozs'. Hope that helps.

  • This is the exact answer that you want if you have any issues running into problems once you have isolated them with screaming frog you can easily pick them out and redirect them either through your host or through a plug-in depending upon where you're hosted and how your site is being managed.

  • Hey Courtney, I just wanted to update here and let you know I've responded to your email. We'll continue through there so we can discuss your campaigns with respect to your privacy. • Right now, you can only grade one keyword phrase at a time per report, but you can run multiple reports. So in this case, you would have to run 3 reports and receive 3 different letter grades. If this is a functionality you'd like to see, we do have a Moz Feature Request Forum: https://seomoz.zendesk.com/forums/293194-Moz-Feature-Requests Users can submit new ideas, and the community votes them up. Our product team then uses this forum for new features and determine what to build next. Hope this helps. Best of luck with your SEO.

  • Hey there, Thanks for reaching out. I took a look at your campaigns and it looks like you've got all your campaigns setup as subfolder campaigns like this: http://www.example.com/product-title The problem is that all the links on your pages go to different subfolders. So there are actually no links to any other pages under that subfolder. I would recommend to look at setting up a subdomain or root domain campaign to catch everything regardless of which subfolder it's held in. I hope that helps. Also make sure to check out the link that Mike posted for you. Cheers, Joel.
