Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • When we were SEOmoz, we used to have an Easter Egg in our response header. It's gone now, but you can see it (and several other funny ones) at http://royal.pingdom.com/2012/08/15/fun-and-unusual-http-response-headers/

  • This is pretty hard to give a good answer to without knowing the site, but a significant sudden drop is usually not tied to smaller factors like page speed. Rather, they tend to be tied to low quality link building (penguin), low quality content (panda), over optimization penalties, or technical problems (look for noindex, robots.txt, nofollow, canonical issues). I know it's a bit broad but without a specific URL, I'd start looking there. Good luck! -Geoff

  • Thanks for your responses. I looked at everything using your suggestions and I just think that my wild fluctuations are real. I used the Rank Tracker tool on Keywords on my competitors for a long while now, and it shows what I felt, that starting back in April through around June 2013, Google started messing with everything. Around 45 Keywords are all over the place since then- one week they rank 50+ the next week #1, etc. Before that pretty much of a straight line. I think Moz reports are sometimes off a little, but in these cases it's pretty accurate. I've tracked in Moz Rank Tracker for a couple of years my 5 main competitors, they now are barely on any page in the top 50, and the Rank Tracker proves it. I've even done just a manual search and counted the positions - and it's fairly accurate. I just can't figure out what to do now in Google to get a consistent score and a consistent good score. All my pages grade A for the specific keywords I want, and they have always ranked for several years in the top 5. Now it's just all over the place. Just can't figure it out. Thank you for your input. I was trying several things to see if I could get a change, before I replied, but no joy.

  • Actually I would suggest something totally different. What platform are you on? Send a variable to the title tag that prints out the page number to the title tag. If you are on page 1 have no page number printed out. That will solve the issue. If you happen to be using Prestashop something like this would work perfect for you, http://www.presto-changeo.com/en/prestashop-modules/25-duplicate-url-redirect.html  it handles that.

  • I would say, Try: WebSEO, in addition to MOZ data. MOZ does a good job on the first half list of items you mentioned. In my part of the world, this is what I do first. On top of these data, I do my web-scraping and scripting to see what's trending in terms of social keywords. No offence, MOZ team, but we have to do this due to our very specific focus in Canadian market and domain authority tracking. | URL: | http://www.theweathernetwork.com | | TOTAL TWITTER TWEETS: | 2522 | | FACEBOOK MENTIONS: | 8872 | | GOOGLE BLOG SEARCH RESULTS: | 0 | | DELICIOUS: | 251 | | DIGG: |  - | | STUMBLEUPON: | 539 |

  • Hi Will, A C-block is part of the IP address of a website (xxx.xxx.CCC.xxx), for example, with my blog, the IP address is 173.248.188.141 - the c-block is 188. Usually, websites that are all hosted on the same server have the same c-block. This is a way that Google can detect link-farms, where loads of sites are set up on the same server and used to link to your website. This is why it is good to have diversity in the amount of linking c-blocks. Inevitably, you will have some identical c-block links but that's ok (and is completely natural). In terms of the links to your website, you have links from 130 root domains that are made up of 70 unique c-blocks. This ratio is perfectly fine, so don't worry. Hope this helps.

  • Start off with landing pages focused on long tail keywords.  You can use those landing pages to build site reputation and traffic.  Use that as a platform for competing with the big guys.  Going head to head with them right out of the gate is a recipe for frustration. The analogy I use is that it is like always being at 3rd and 1 in American football.  You don't have to throw into the end zone, you just need to move the ball a few feet.

  • I recommend you do some keyword research using the Google Keyword Tool or Planner and see what people are searching for. See how many people are searching for it with the space vs without the space. That should give you a good idea. You also need to see if you'll be able to rank without the space by checking the competition level, but also the keyword difficulty using Moz tools. There may also be other alternative formats that people are searching for that you can take advantage of. For example, maybe there's a bunch of people that aren't using the last 3 numbers? Or maybe there are a lot of people who just type in the model number without "New Balance" in front of it. Doing good keyword research will help you decide what keywords to target. You can also use Moz's SEO Beginner's Guide where they will show you all about keyword research and what to do afterwards. There is also a great post on the 3-tier keyword system, along with a video at Moz.com/academy. I highly suggest you check those out.

  • If I would be at your places I would have played natural. Instead of adding keywords to all the images, I would have randomly added Alt tags to images and tags would define images and not keywords! I will recommend using the same idea when building content. Just do not consider about keyword percentage in the document and make it as useful for reader as possible and you will see rankings as well as conversion ratio will increase.

  • Ours do the exact same thing. Keyword rankings for one of our campaigns were reported today and there were fluctuations from down more than 48 to up more than 26. One term is ranking 17 in Bing and 7 in Yahoo - and Bing dropped this week while Yahoo increased. Some terms rank on the first page for Google but not even the top 50 for Yahoo and Bing, and vice versa. And then we have the whole issue of accuracy. This morning, one of our mid-level keywords reported as position 4 in Google with an increase of 9, but I immediately checked and saw that it was 14 (not logged in, non-personalized, location-neutral, etc). This happens every week. A Moz team member looked our account and said our keywords are just highly volatile. I don't know what else to say other than you're not alone. It's frustrating.

  • My theory is you get what you pay for, so i only use paid tools My recent favorite is https://serps.com/. You can track a lot of keywords and domains as well as get updated ranks everyday for a pretty cheap price. They also just released some pretty neat international and local tracking options included even in the lowest priced plan. I have also compared their results with MOZ and a few others and they are always spot on and accurate. Cheers! Kyle

  • Hi Jarno, Thanks for your response. I build links through article on my own personal blog and I also build links through another website through free article submission.I make one article a day, with the keywords that are repeated about two-three times per article. So far I have not received any warning from Google. I am not sharing content on a different site and feel that I am not over optimizing as the article is only written once a day. Unfortunately since this is a work I am doing for a client I cannot share much information. Would it be possible for you to show me, what I can look for from the domain name and recent articles I write? I really appreciate you helping out. ThanksRegards, Debbie
