Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Hi Mike, Paul Rogers mentioned that he has built a tool that will query the SEOmoz API using Google Docs in a recent post on the SEOmoz Blog - How to Reach Bloggers, Ninja Style. It might be worth following up with Paul to see if he can help you out. Hope that helps, Sha

  • I haven't heard back and would really like to figure this out. According to Google webmaster tools, the pages are indexed and crawled and I know they come up in the search results. The main menu is linked to the landing pages. Any reason why you think this may not be showing up in the analytics report? I need to figure out if I need to do something or is it just an error from the analytic tool?

  • Thank you for suggesting this. I didn't want to submit a ticket if I was doing something wrong (which is probably the issue). However, I cannot seem to resolve this so I think you're right; I'm going to submit a ticket. Thanks!

  • I always though guest replies would be ignored by Google, is this the case? Guest replies are definitely not ignored by Google. Sometimes you can perform a search for a term and the result will lead you to an article where the search term is only located in the user generated comment section of the page. Our competitor sells clothing but has a reply on a CSS site? Would this be worth doing like this or is it a waste of time? I would suggest working to obtain as broad of a link profile as possible. I like being linked to from credible off-topic sites such as a CSS or graphic design sites for two reasons. First, if it is a follow'd link it offers at least some value and serves to broaden the site's link profile. Additionally if my client's site looks so good it is being mentioned on web design sites, I know the overall design is good. Of course there is the corner case where you are being called out for bad design, but I'll let that topic go In short, receiving mentions or links from design and other off topic sites is nice, but should not be a focus for your link building efforts unless your site is related to those topics.

  • Hi everyone. We at SEOmoz are aware of the problem and are looking into it. I've asked an OSE engineer to respond in the thread at http://www.seomoz.org/q/link-analysis so please look over there (we'll also give a brief update on Twitter too) . I'm closing this thread so we can keep things to one thread.

  • Hi Mike, @SEOmoz tweeted a few hours ago that the team had completed the latest Linkscape Update a week ahead of schedule. Since there is generally a wait time before you can download your Advanced Report from the Keyword Difficulty Tool, it is quite possible that the numbers you obtained from there were Pre-Update, so may have changed in OSE. There is currently an issue with the Keyword Difficulty Tool producing an error result, but the Help Team are aware of it and working to resolve the issue. If you want to keep up with progress on that you can follow @SEOmoz on Twitter and they will advise when it is resolved. Then you will be able to run your Advanced Report again. You can run a 5 site comparison in Open Site Explorer using the Advanced Reports to get you through with most of the information if you need to. If for some reason you don't believe the Update timing was a factor, then the best solution would be to email the Help Team  help[at]seomoz.org. Hope that helps, Sha

  • Yes, Google allows you to change location but it seems like the search results are still different, probably because Google uses your IP address as a variable. I use a VPN provider which has 50+ servers around the world and use their VPN servers as proxies.

  • I'm not sure how your site is setup, but from a coding perspective you just change the text in the text here tags. I would definitely use something more keyword specific for your H1 tags, you can then put other less important titles in H2 or H3 tags. You can always have 2 H1 tags each targeting the different brand/keyword.

  • Page authority and domain authority are worked out using an algorithm based on other metrics including MozRank, MozTrust, number of links, etc. I tend to use domain authority as a good measure for an entire site when finding links and as it's based on more factors than MozRank alone, I personally find it more useful.

  • Hi Peter It would be helpful to know how you are redirecting these pages (301 etc) and for what reason? Also whether any of your pages are blocked in your robots.txt file - perhaps to prevent duplicate content?

  • Lots of people come to these forums looking for numbers and formulas. If the link is going to be on what looks like a quality site then it doesn't matter what the page authority is... .... and if the site has a high page authority but it looks like a crappy manipulative site then why would you want a link on it?

  • Hi Andy, We saw some temporary issues with Google.co.uk last week but everything should be good for your latest rankings update. If you experience issues in the future please write into help@seomo.org using the email associated with your account so that we can assist you further. I'm so sorry about the inconvenience but everything should be back to normal now. Kenny

  • I just did a comparison and realized that you are right, there is a slight difference. Italy is capitalized in one version since it is linked that way on one page. I had no idea that would make such a difference! The link has been fixed, thank you for your help!

  • Hi James, There are a number of things that can affect results - A few of the things that may be influencing your conflicting results include: It is my understanding that SEOmoz Rankings are based upon non-personalized and non-regionalized results I believe that SEOmoz take into account embedded local results if they appear, but do not include them if they appear in a 6, 8 or 12 pack. There have been recent anecdotal reports that searchers using the Google Chrome browser are receiving vastly higher ranking results than those seen in Firefox and IE. If you feel that there is a problem with your Rankings Report, the best thing to do is to email the Help Team (help [at] seomoz.org) and ask them to take a look for you. Be sure to provide them any information you have regarding manual checks and results from other tools. Hope that helps, Sha

  • George, I looked at the page you shared and it appears as a solid page for a link. If it is not appearing in OSE, I would recommend contacting the help desk. There has been some issues with the Linkscape index, which is the source data OSE results are based upon. The next Linkscape update is scheduled for Sep 20. The issue may resolve itself after the update. But based on the information you shared, it should appear currently so my recommendation is to contact the help desk so they can investigate the issue. If they can locate a bug or tweak, it may be possible to fix it without waiting another month to see your link.
