Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Ah, good question. At the moment this project is still in planning, so I don't have a firm ETA yet. There's a good chance we will release the task list functionality in phases and I'm hoping to have a first phase out before the end of the year. I'll be sure to share some more information when the plan is better defined.

  • If I am understanding you correctly you want to know how many links are going to different folders within your site structure, or to different pages within your site structure. Either way, use webmastertools, although the link counts tend to be off and not nearly as accurate as open site explorer, it will give you the ability to see links built to each level via the "your site on the web" section look for the "links to your site section". \ here is an example: folder                                                                            links             linking domains | /lawyer/Pennsauken_New-Jersey |      458 |                    2 | the folder in question was /lawyer/ There are also a number of hosted analytics solutions you could put on your server that will give you more detailed info. one more thought is to count the links to pages that reside in that folder by filtering in your analytics, i am not sure of the scale of your site, but it might do the trick as well. Easy as that! Cheers,

  • I'm excited to see where you guys are taking PA & DA.  I'm sure it will only continue to improve and as a baseline metric for evaluating a site it is already incredibly useful. I just think it needs to be made crystal clear that comparing the PA & DA of today to the PA & DA of last month, last quarter, or last year truly is apples and oranges and this will only become more true as SEOMoz improves these metrics going forward.

  • Thanks Keri, I think this might be user error! The problem only seems to occur if I import the CSV into an exisiting Excel spreadsheet. If I directly open the same CSV in Excel then it formats as expected. So my mistake it seems. Sorry for wasting anyone's time! Ben

  • Yes! You'll want to go to Open Site Explorer and type in their domain and you can move lots of switches and levers there to see all kinds of data. http://www.seomoz.org/blog/one-giant-leap-for-link-data-announcing-open-site-explorer is an introduction from when OSE was first launched and can give you an idea of some of the neat things you can do.

  • I like the opensiteexplorer method. The difficulty is what to do once you create the list of .edu's. We're using some of the other blogs on the subject on seomoz.

  • Sean - I share Rand' sentiments, thanks so much for the suggestion! We have considered distributed crawling in the past (or even distributed rank checking because then it would be in that user's locale) but there are a whole different set of challenges.  For example, you have to handle all the edge cases: what if a user's computer isn't on, or loses connectivity, what if we crawl too fast and the user gets blocked from a site, how do you write all that data securely? Of course all of these concerns can be overcome, but right now we feel like we have a good handle on the problems, and it will be much faster for us to just fix what we have Although, I know all of us are so appreciative of the ideas and support, and we will have something really great soon!

  • Hi Richard. For the first issue, does your site have over 10k pages? I ask because I believe the crawler has a 10k limit and if you exceed that number any issues on extra pages can be missed. Otherwise I would recommend inspecting your site in Google WMT. The idea behind any crawl reporting is to locate issues before Google finds them. Since you are just starting here, Google has likely already discovered any issues on your site. I have not found any broken links in WMT which the moz crawler missed so I trust the tool; however, I have not worked with IIS. For the duplicate page issue, you should ensure only one version of each page is accessible. Determine which URL version is preferred, then either eliminate the other version(s) or 301 redirect them to the primary URL version. In the example you offered, I would suggest http://www.cylc.org/ is the cleaner, preferred version of the URL.

  • I should say a 1.5% degredation for each repetition cumilatively. So could I assume I have lost 15% as error in your tool? meaning I have a score of %35 now ?? Who knows

  • Hi Joe, You're probably better off directing this to the SEOmoz help team. Fire them an email at help@seomoz.org. As they don't read each Q&A thread, you'll probably get a faster response this way. Thanks, Brendan.

  • I believe you are looking at the "Crawl Diagnostics Summary" and not the actual crawl report.  The information you are seeking is on the actual Crawl Report.

  • Thanks Ryan. Makes sense. I should have thought of this. I do filter internal links when using OSE, but for some reason I didn't make that connection on the SERP overlay
