Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Thanks for all the advice! I realized that Google doesn't care about the tilde -- or at least is not doing the same redirect as SEOMoz. Recently one of my older sitemaps was flagged by Google with errors because too many of the files were redirecting. All of my sitemaps would be flagged if pages were redirecting on a wide scale. My pages generally rank in the top 5 in Google and maybe losing the tilde would get me to #1, so I'll keep it in mind for the future. Thanks again for the help.

  • Hi! This is actually a known issue with OSE. With the new deeper crawl that it is doing, it's finding a lot of downloadable program files and is getting confused and saying those binary files are actually links. SEOmoz is well aware of this and working on fixing the way the crawler works. It is nothing your competitors are doing, but a problem on the moz end of things. Carin has a detailed explanation in this thread at http://www.seomoz.org/q/how-are-our-competitors-getting-these-inbound-linking-domains.

  • Hi there, You can do what you want to do as long as the keywords are loaded in your campaign. Its just a little hidden If you go into the On-page tool you see the Summary view. If you look right above the big heading On-page Optimization, there are two blue text links. Choose Report Card. Now you will see a selector which allows you to choose any keyword from your campaign list and enter the URL of any page in the site. Click Grade my On-page Optimization and voila! Roger will fetch your Report Card! Hope that helps. Sha

  • Hi Ryan, It appears that Google indexed the non www version of your page before you put the redirect in place (I am assuming that it is a 301 redirect you have used). The problem with waiting for Google to correct the index via the 301 is that the likelihood of it being crawled very often is extremely low. There are two reasons for this There is only the one page accessible. No internal links leading to other pages in the site and only one link to an external site from that page. There is absolutely no text on the page for Googlebot (or Roger Mozbot) to crawl (the bots can't read what is written in the images) Basically, the lack of content is providing no evidence that the bot should return very often. The bot is pretty much seeing an empty page. The redirect is working fine, so as long as it is a permanent redirect (301) then you are good, but the main reason for using it is to consolidate all of your URL's into one. This avoids duplicate content issues and makes sure that search engines don't get confused and treat them as different sites. Both are Still valid and will work. As to wanting Google to adjust the index so that it appears as www,funtranslator.com, if you have set it up in your Google Webmaster Tools account, go to Site Configuration, choose settings and set the preferred domain name to the WWW version. That is the best you can do to send them the signal that you wish to use that as the preferred domain. If you don't have webmaster tools set up, then you will need to add and verify the site first. I can't see that this will be a problem for SEOmoz, since Roger Mozbot crawls the site directly. He doesn't need Google to tell him what to do. If you want to check this for sure, just email the help team - help [at} seomoz.org and ask them to confirm. Hope that helps. Sha

  • Hey guys, Yep, Keri is correct, unfortunately We found a bug in ourJuly index with our new crawlers - they were crawling binary files as if they were links and, since they are not normal links, the crawler couldn't handle them very well. We have made some updates to our crawling so it will go deeper into sites. The reason for these odd inbound links from high-authority sites is due to the crawler reaching much deeper into sites where there are more download (i.e. binary) links. The first issue is the crawler is counting a binary file as a link, but the larger issue, is that the crawler doesn’t really know how to handle these types of files. This bug is causing some links to be improperly associated with certain domains. This is why you’re seeing inbound links to pages that don’t really exist. There are two steps to addressing this issue: changing how the crawler sees these file types and then fixing how the crawler handles these file types. We have made improvements to our algorithm so that we will be able to handle the majority of these files correctly, however, this update will need a few more weeks to propagate. The fix for this issue probably won’t be seen for another update, meaning late September. Our improvements should catch most of the issues, but there still could be a few cases we haven't addressed. If this happens, don't hesitate to let us know; we love feedback since it helps us improve and make our index even better! The next step is to fix how our crawlers handle binary file links and prevent them from being improperly associated with certain domains. We are in the process of working through that issue right now. We’re doing everything we can to resolve this bug as we know it is alarming to see these phantom inbound links. Thanks for your patience!Carin

  • Hi, You are not the only one experiencing issues at the moment. Best to report your problem direct to support [at] seomoz.org with details of what you are seeing. The Rankings system is in Beta at present so far as I know, so just need to let the Moz staff know ASAP. Sha

  • Unfortunately, not at this time. Did you know we have a feature request forum? It's a great place to share your ideas. Other people can vote on them and it will help us determine priorities. You should check it out: http://seomoz.zendesk.com/forums Regardless, I'll pass the message along to our team and we'll see what we can do to add that functionality down the line. Thanks again for letting us know!

  • Thanks Ryan, this is really helpful. We have our Social properties in place, we just need to come up with a comprehensive plan to keep it updated. Any recommendations on readings on how to get a plan together for social media? That is probably another Q/A...right now our struggle is getting daily posts, and finding the right people to follow. I am doubting that we will be able to afford a consultant. I took a pretty hefty paycut to take this position...it's a non-profit that I feel passionate about, which is the only reason they could afford me. Not that I'm SEO expert, by any means...I'll actually be doing a lot of different things for the org on the administrative side. Out of curiosity, any idea on a price range I can expect to see for an SEO consult?

  • Have raised the same issue in another thread, and others are also having the same prob, Rand has personally answered that saying it is being dealt with, but as of now, it is still behaving strangely. Reports I ordered days ago and a few this morning are still "pending", another I ordered 5 mins ago, came through straight away. This is odd ....
