  • I did use Buddypress for Wordpress once for a Thematic community website. This was a small personal project but I was great since it doesn't took to much time to build and was compatible with Wordpress SEO plugins.

  • You will have to find a few resources to gather the information you are looking for. Check out some of the MozCON 2011 Bundle and Pro Webinars. In Pro Webinars Mike King just had a nice presentation about different tools he uses to get  understand the personas and their purchasing habit. In the various other videos the experts talk about different resources they use... just look around great stuff.

  • Follow up question, what is more important, a "Like" or o comment on our Facebook page? I'm trying to set up a social media campaign and I'm not sure what to ask people to do in return for a discount, what would be more beneficial. Thanks!

  • I don't have a template, but here's an SEOmoz post with a large amount of helpful information in conducting a site audit that may meet some of your needs. http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-to-do-a-site-audit

  • I use feedburner because it manages email subscriptions, does RSS and has widgets that others can use to put my feed on their site.

  • Hi Emerald, First off, great response above by Andrew. I just wanted to throw in a suggestion on using a web host such as site5. They are a US based company like you are looking for but they also provide the option to choose your server location - one of which is in Sydney Australia. They should provide you everything you need with US support and reliability, but with a AU server location. http://www.site5.com/hosting/web/ Just select your server location to get the details. Thanks, Casey

  • The upside about being in-house in a situation like this is you can customize much more. When doing client work you need to have a fairly standardized format to stay sane, but yours can be entirely tailored to your needs. Also, for stuff tracked on a monthly tab, I often find a way to do a End of Year tab that summarizes data and includes years past as a summary, and then create a new version of the spreadsheet each year, so that it doesn't get unwieldy after a year or two. I know that's a complicated suggestion, but the implementation will really depend on what data matters most for Year over Year comparisons versus just month over month.

  • Hey Rachel, If you are using Wordpress, Yoast has a Google Analytics plugin which offers many added variables and segmenting.  I played around with it for a little while, but basic analytics are enough for my efforts right now.  You can read about it here: http://yoast.com/wordpress/google-analytics/

  • HolidaySEO With this age group there are places they go and things they look at that older people do not. I have a friend with a daughter who is trying to do similar and is in that target range and I find this all quite interesting. I would look at what other affiliations, likes, etc. they have on the whole. Is there some game they are playing? Is there a set of singers/groups they gravitate toward. Obviously, if so, you want to have something going on there. With Maddi Jane, she has had over 140 million upload views on her YouTube channel so someone likes her. You could go after that in and of itself with blogs about what she does well, etc. That would get her fans reading, and then you start talking up your artist who is similar. Or, have your artist do their rendition of a Maddi Jane cover or if she has done her own songs (all I saw were covers) have your artist do one or two on YouTube - all in a complimentary way. To me this is important. A teenage girl will never speak with you again if you mention you don't think her favorite singer is all that good. Do your artists Tweet? Have them tweet about Maddi jane and other topics around her. OK, through plenty at the wall, hope some helped.

  • A suggestion would be to collaborate with them on titles, etc. With us, we are an agency and have to take care of clients. We know we are going to use a given url and typically the title tag and H1 are all created ahead of time. We can make contextual changes in something like an H1 to add clarity, but title tags are just too important.  So, I would work with the creative type by giving them boundaries: here is the title of the page we need: Here is the first and second heading - what can you do that will make these dance???

  • I would think that where you start depends on what you have done. It would be hard for anybody to do anything more then point you to the beginners guide That said... As far as getting links, that really is one of the last aspects and atleast for me, a never ending process. What you want before you start worring about who is linking and from what domain is make sure you site is built correctly. Title Tags, Descriptions, appropriate use of keywords, favorable unique content, correct internal linking, appropriate alt tags, use of H1 - H4 html attributes.. all this in no particular order. To begin with I would start by taking each page, and evaluating it for that pages top keyword with the on page analysis tool. There it will make suggestions on what you can improve. Once you're comfortable with your content and SEO pass. Then start submitting to search engines, and work on building your link structure.

  • Hi, Tedious should be another name for SEO! Not sure you will find much less tedious than the tools here at SEOMOZ, without having something custom built or building it yourself, but of course there are lots of people here and one may have the "golden ticket" Just a few suggestions though: Have you begun with OSE by taking a look at the top competitiors in your niche's backlinks portfolio, so on and so forth? Have you done searches for your keywords to learn your Niche's landscape? Do you have a physical location that you can begin gaining citations in local directories such as Yelp and Local.com? Just a few ideas, I am sure others will have more w00t!

  • Hi OMT, Well, in the PRO tools you have the Term Extractor. You can use that to check which keywords tend to rank well, which keywords does the SEO team optimize for. Then the rankings you can check with Rank Tracker of seoMoz Tools. This should be fast and easy. Istvan

  • How do you plan to build an audience ahead of time to promote your documentary programme? What are you expecting back from the time, money and energy you have to invest here? Get some partners. Get onto the social platforms of other british political commentators and use their already developed communities to promote yourself
