  • I think this requires much excel-magic with vlookup. I would aggregate GWT-Top-Pages, keyword data from the usual tools (sistrix, searchmetrics, semrush, majestic, raven) , your webanalyticstool.

  • Andy, issuing ten releases over three months is absolutely fine. Some of our clients issue many more releases - it tends to vary by industry but two or three per month is not (at all) uncommon. Our research shows that unless you use a premium wire (say prweb's advanced service or prnewswire etc.) your news won't get picked up elsewhere (or if it does, it will have been scraped onto poor quality sites). The links you get from the releases are really from the press release distribution service and (if you had a good story and used a premium wire), from the few news sites/blogs that cover the story and link to you. The link on the wire service is okay, but gets buried quite quickly.

  • whwn i say by hand, I use visual studio, i just would not ues anything that spits out html, because they do not create clean code free from violations . although word press is popular it is not good for SEO, but if you can not write your own html, then wordpress or the like it has to be. You certaibnly are not going to be able to mark up microdata with the such

  • Thanks for all of the responses. I wasn't aware of opensiteexplorer.org and it does seem pretty handy. Not sure I 100% trust it (a few common sense checks displays some, but not all links), but it's a good starting point. Cheers M

  • As with SEO, it's going to take some time to see the fruits of your labor with social media. Twitter is about having conversations with your customers, potential customers, etc. It's not necessarily about the number of followers you have, but about the level of engagement you have with those followers. It's not only the quality of content/information you're sending as EGOL mentions, but also the type of people you're interacting with. Looking at your current Twitter stream, you engage with people quite a bit, but the topics are all over the place. You don't have to ONLY talk about men's clothing, but decide exactly who your audience is (men who buy nice clothes online, or maybe women looking to buy something for their man) and figure out what they talk about. Find a similar type of store as your own and look at their followers. Follow their followers (not necessarily all of them, but this is a good place to start) and see what they're talking about. Try not to just tweet about your site, but tweet interesting articles or facts as well. Again, make sure you take the time first to find out what your audience is interested in. If it's men's clothing, even better. As an example, I have a friend who runs a plus size women's blog and she gained followers by finding the top bloggers in the niche and interacting with them. She also found plus size women's clothing stores and went through their followers and found women she was interested in talking to. After a few months of having conversations with these bloggers and other women she became a part of that community. Her twitter stream is also a personal account so she talks about anything and everything but she focuses on women's fashion and mainly plus size fashion. People who follow her know they're not going to get bombarded with spam and only showing her own blog posts. She's going to tweet great content she finds from across the web related to what many of her followers are also interested in. If you can take this example and figure out how to get into the community where your prime audience is then you've found a great start. Hope this helps!

  • Hi Jessica, KISS is mainly geared for conversion tracking and ROI goals. It has been built from the roots to help you improve your customer acquisition funnels.  With GA you can also do some of that, but not to such sophisticated level as KISS. Also, KISS metrics merges with KISS insights so you can gather info not only on  'WHAT' your customers do on your site, but WHY they do it or more importantly WHY they dont do it. The results of those WHYs can inform the process and enrich the data you get via KISS metrics I think it all depends how much disposable time you have to focus on really detailed conversion-based bunnels and ROI tracking activity in detriment of planning your campaigns, link building, technical audits, or the like...

  • Hi Big Zee, So sorry you didn't get a response about this. You asked it right when our Q&A system was down for a bit and a whole bunch of new questions got buried. Are you still looking for suggestions, or have you made a decision? Can you share anything you learned with us if you have made a decision?

  • Thanks Ryan. This is exactly as expected... I fear we have a fair bit of cannibalization across the site, so better get on and make some changes. Many thanks Guy
