  • Hi - hope this helps! I understand that a person can place a Google author tag on the website, and a reciprocal link under the "Contributor To" section of the person's Google+ profile page. Yes you can - add the google+ tag to your author profile on your site like this <a <span="">rel</a><a <span="">="author" href="</a>https://plus.google.com/your google profile number?rel=author">+Your Google Name What about Google+ pages? Can a business (or Google+ page) be an author? The "Contributor To" section doesn't seem to be present for my Google+ Page.... No - it doesn't work like that - create your google company profile page using your personal google+ profile. Add a link to your site in the website field on the about section on your profile, and add a link to your site from the recommended links section. What about the publisher tag? Can you have both an author and a publisher tag? Yes you can. There are a few options for this - most of which include a button, but you can opt for the no badge function which will give you the code for just a head tag to add to your site. To link and verify your company profile - go to your personal profile page, then click your company page, then, hit get started and click the link for "get your badge" under the "connect your website" section and select the style of badge or code you want from there. You can have a publisher tag on your site and multiple different author tags with no conflict. My end goal is to have our company name and avatar to appear as an author in SERPs. Which tag is going to help me achieve this? Once you have added both codes above, you will find that you can post as your company if you go to your company profile and share publicly and your company avatar will show alongside the posting. The company won't show as the author though.

  • I think Clicky works fine, but I'm not sure there's much value beyond using Google Analytics especially since Google has come out with Real-Time Analytics now. I liked Clicky since they had the real-time feature before, but that's no longer unique to them. Clicky also calculates bounce rates differently than Google, but I'm not sure that's of real "value." Other than that, I don't see much of a difference or advantage to using Clicky.

  • This might be of little help to you, but I paid an Odesk developer $100 to create a little tool that can keep track of outreach success and links. It allows you to enter a page and a link, and it crawls the page upon the request to see if the link is there, the anchor text and other link attributes. I like to have my own little app for this, but that's a matter of taste.

  • You can try http://www.socialmarker.com/, as i know it's free. I've prefer syndd  for bookmarking to main sites, because it has integrated spinner and other great features. But are you really need to add you pages in ALL social bookmarks?

  • That is strange. I have not seen that before in BC. One things that may screw it up is if in your category.html template file there is something wrong. But then you would be seeing issues on all cat pages. BC is pretty quick on support -- live chat and email -- so hopefully they can find a quick explanation.

  • When it comes to video production, you generally get what you pay for. You could have someone you know throw together a powerpoint and narrate over the top of it, but it won't be nearly as professional as someone who might charge more. I think your best bet is to check your local craigslist or try doing a google search for video production in your area. I'll leave the quality vs price issue in your court though.

  • Whether or not to do a press release is a question I keep getting conflicting information on. A couple of years ago pre-Panda seems like they were more useful. Now it seems that a lot of news aggregators can be billed as duplicant content and have lost what little of the link juice they may have still had. Now if you have a truly news worthy story than indeed it may get picked up and reap benefits, but how often does one really have newsworthy material? I have looked into PRweb and they have a program for unlimited releases for one year for $3995. If one had newsworthy material on a weekly basis this would appear to be a good deal. However, if the content is not newsworthy or the content is released every couple of months then this would not be such a great deal. To research whether or not the press releases where worth it or not from PRweb, I went to their website and looked at several of the recent press releases in the  "Newscenter" section. I found out whom was doing releases and looked at their corporate websites through my SEOmoz browser to check their ranks and most had pretty poor PA and DA even with lots of links. I wish press releases were a good source to get out the word on a business and help with building SEO links, but I just can't see it for sure one way or another. I will be checking into reddit and slashdot as EGOL suggested. Any other suggestions appreciated.

  • The right wire to use depends very much on the industry you're targeting, the geography and how much you've got to spend. Since you're in the US, I'm assuming the target is US and national - I quite like PR Newswire, but on the whole, any premium wire should get you some pickup. Just don't expect journalists in the national newspapers etc. to pick up your news from the wire service and use it. Getting solid media coverage is core 'media relations' work - think of it as similar to the outreach you might do for linkbuilding. There is some skill to it and contacts in the media help a lot. You could hire a PR freelancer/agency with contacts in the industry you're targeting to pitch the story out or if you need to do it yourself, here's the minimum steps you should consider: Build a list of targets 'pre-sell' the story to some key journalists/bloggers to forewarn them/gauge interest Update your release based on 1 Issue the release to your targets via email and also on the wire (keep an eye on any news/announcements due on the same day that could 'drown' your news) Follow up with people that don't cover it - find out why so you can do better next time/remind them since their inbox will probably be overflowing with press releases and they may have missed it

  • Hi Remus, I know you guys have closed this question a while ago, but I really hope you can help me out with this. Our company is called theprintspace (www.theprintspace.co.uk) and we provide pro printing services for photographers (photographers comes to us with their images on a disc/order online and we print them out on professional photographic and fine art papers). We are technically more of a service. I really want to list us on the Product Search because I want the seller rating extensions - however it seems this is more tailored to products, and not services. Do you have any advice how I could do this, and if not through Product Search is there any other way to get the Seller Ratings Extensions?? Many thanks in advance!

  • Several years ago we switched from Google search to Pico Search, the paid version. I also added domain masking, one time fee, for the search results to show as search.yourdomain.com. It is customizable to add your own search button, make the search results page match the rest of your site, add tweaks to the searches and so on. Their tech support has been excellent reaching a live person on the phone who answered my questions quickly, but I've only used it 2-3 times.
