  • You are correct this is incorrect... This is a Profile, so actually in violation of Google+ Terms since it is a Brand/Business. Here is my suggestion.... Turn this into the "Company Spokesperson" example Head of PR, Executive or even you as the Head of Web and Marketing. THEN As this NOT NEWLY CREATED PAGE, but just modified to be a "Person" page.... Create a Google+ Business Page (Make sure you are signed in as this account and) Go to http://www.google.com/+/business/ And follow the on page instructions to create a "Business Page" Hope this helps

  • Hi Stevej24, Just thought I'd respond to your comment. According to the Optilocal post I linked to in my longer response to Ryan: Howard Lerman (CEO of Yext) confirmed that an expansion in Europe and Australia is scheduled. However, according to him this would not happen before 2013. So, looks like expansion will happen in a year or more. Cheers! Miriam

  • Copyscape has an API you could probably feed that a list of your URLs and it report back close matches fairly easily.  I'm not aware of one that does it as an ongoing task though, which seems to be what you are asking for. Mind you "Very big" + Regular could add up in price.

  • Hi Kaylie, For any migration you need to develop a plan for SEO. There are a lot of tips out there i.e. https://seogadget.co.uk/surviving-seo-site-migration/,  however you must make sure you correctly map out all URLs and redirect them if needed, The one major tip I can give you when working with Magento and all ecommerce sites, is that you make sure to fix all duplication and canonical issues. Increasing the quality of the site will reflect well in the sites user experience and visibility (in terms of how it is indexed) in search. Great guide from Joost - http://yoast.com/articles/magento-seo/ I would also strongly suggest and purchase this extension - http://www.mageworx.com/seo-suite-ultimate-magento-extension.html. They will install this on your site for you. This should also deal with  alot of the duplication issues. Other quick tips to increase your sites visibility using magento (depending on the size of your site): Segment your XML sitemaps. Also create an image sitemap to generate additional traffic to the site. Make sure you have your product rss feeds accessible for both search engines and users. Reduce the number of internal links per page as possible. Hope this helps, Vahe

  • These articles, how would they feed competitors and create new ones? I am lost in the world of articles , blogs and link building. Surely a successfull business should be link building via off site backlinks?

  • On the slight chance you have not seen this awesome article from Dr. Pete, I would like to share the link: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/crawler-faceoff-xenu-vs-screaming-frog This article combined with a recommendation from Sha is what led me to purchasing Screaming Frog.

  • Hi Nightwing, Thanks for coming to Q&A with your question. I'm the Local SEO Associate here in the forum. Members are giving good suggestions here, and here is one that, while unfortunately based on alarming the client, is absolutely true and almost sure to wake them up: Whether you choose to participate in Google Places or not, Google can create a listing for your business. Google began their Local effort by creating listings culled from 3rd party sources without notifying business owners. So this is not an opt-in program. Your business may be profiled by Google without any knowledge on your part. Thus, the only way for you to have ANY control over the data Google publishes about your business is to take control of it via claiming and verifying it. Failure to do so increases the chances that a) Google may publish incorrect data about your business, misrepresenting you to the public, b) competitors may take control of your listing and do all kinds of fun things with it. If the client doesn't get the value of actively participating in Places after this, they aren't a client you really want to work with. We are in the role of educator as Local SEOs, but if clients ignore the opportunities of this education, we just can't help them. Hope this point helps you to get the right message across to business owners who come to you! Good luck!

  • Hello Ewanr, Please see section five on this page: http://support.google.com/merchants/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=188494#US I have pulled out the quote that I think answers your question. Although Google seems to cater their answer toward apparel and accessories, you can use variant attributes for other types of items: "We define variants as a group of identical products that only differ by the attributes ‘color’, ‘material’, ‘pattern’, or ‘size’... If you don't include variant attributes in your feed, you shouldn't submit several variants of the same product as separate listings (ex: the same product in different colors, sizes). These items will be considered as duplicates which is against our Program Policies." That document goes on to explain how to submit variant data. So what I would suggest is to submit them as variants each with a unique ID (e.g. SKU) and the same "Item group ID". I hope this has answered your question. If not, please let me know. Regards, Everett

  • Yep, that is pretty much it.  Can't say that I would personally recommend either of the hosts that you mention, but the principal is right.  You'd probably need to create CNAME and an A record.

  • Hey Steve, I agree with Erica - iFrames or RSS are probably the best way to go. If you just build a simple but nice looking embed code which automatically pulls in links to new videos into an accesible list, I think you'll be doing well. Also make sure you include some sort of branded anchor text link to the homepage at the bottom of the embed for each site - Just to maximise on the linking opportunities and overall brand visibility.

  • I actually have MineNode and for a small site it is OK - up to 40k pages, and you need it automated

  • Try Google Adsense for a start. After you are making lots of money there then you have a traffic mass that will justify a venture into the advertiser briarpatch. Beware of people who contact you who want to place an ad on your website.  If you have not heard of their brand before the deal that they will offer is probably much richer for them than it will be for you.

  • 1.) Go to your business page on Yelp. 2.) Under Your Business>Activity. This shows a bar graph of the number of visits to your actual business page.  You can view by day or by month. Hope this helps!!!

  • I think the terms of service of Google Analytics is against collecting that level of personal information as well. I'd feel violated too!
