Finding advertisers

any tips on finding advertisers for my website. The only way I can think of is to search "military advertisers" in google

This may be obvious, but have you already created an "advertise here" page on your site and displayed it in prominent positions and your site? It helps to make the terms of the advertising clear on the page also.

Is your pricing also reasonable in comparison to similar sites?

Try Google Adsense for a start.

After you are making lots of money there then you have a traffic mass that will justify a venture into the advertiser briarpatch.

Beware of people who contact you who want to place an ad on your website.  If you have not heard of their brand before the deal that they will offer is probably much richer for them than it will be for you.
