Why might a business suddenly drop from google local top 5 to page 4
Thank You Joao... I am currently taking your advice, and removing the link (sitewide) to the homepage from the text 'Panama City Beach Hotels' and just leaving it on the business name instead. The site has a .xml sitemap for google, and a html sitemap for users. Google places is OK. I have replicated the search in google for the business name, and I see the places listing at the top of the page, so it seems active. I will make updates to our information as you suggested though, and resubmit as "corrected" as you suggested. I appreciate your time to help Thanks again!

Google Local
No worries... as a quick tip, Google some stuff, look at where the reviews originate in their places listing and then you'll know which sites to get reviews at

Is there any tool that measures online sentiment across multiple online marketing channels, not just social media?
I actually use Raven tools for link management and SERP tracking. I'll check out the social section. Thanks!

90 Day Facebook Sweepstakes - time widget?
Thanks Brad and I agree. By the way, we are required to state the term of this sweepstakes (by law) which is in our official rules but I don't think we'll use the counter widget. We are also offering over 10 prizes along the way whenever a certain milestone is achieved.

How long does Google keep track of a line of visits for first-touch attribution?
Thanks Marcus! I have yet to absorb and digest the details of that article. But many thanks for sharing a great post on the topic.

Incoming Links from mamma.com
Jean, Although this does sound tempting to get a quick win, I'd advise not to go ahead with a scheme such as this. Focus more on building strong links such as the one from your SEOmoz profile (after 200 points) - and forums and blog commenting. Getting keyword rich links are obviously the best, but you can compete with that by a number of links from pages with high domain and page authority with less keyword input. 50 Links isn't that many, so don't be put off! It also seems that now the competitor has these links they might be happy to stop link building. Link building is an ongoing process, and sudden peaks and troughs in link numbers might attract the attention of search engines Let me know if this helps!

How much does your agency charge in the US for social media marketing? (anonymous)
Well, let's look at it from an hourly perspective. 14 posts a month on twitter and facebook = maybe 3-5 hours? 3 blog posts = could be 3 hours, could be 20 hours, depending on depth and complexity As far as hourly rates, I would expect something roughly as follows: <$100 for small, startup, new, etc agencies $100-200 for small to medium agencies $200+ for larger and more established agencies So if we budgeted 15 hours, cost might be $1,000-$3,000+

Getting Google SERP data?
So according to http://groups.google.com/group/google-ajax-search-api/browse_thread/thread/bbf97020226534f3 the Google CSE API cannot be used to get SERP data, and there is no legal automated way to get SERP data. I'm guessing that there must be, though, as I'm guessing SEOmoz isn't breaking the Google TOS? Any input would be appreciated!

Building an infographic without being a graphic designer
Blueglass has produced some good infographics, and has also blogged about what makes a good infographic a couple of times. This can be helpful when thinking about ideas for how you want it designed. http://www.blueglass.com/blog/what-makes-a-good-infographic/ http://www.blueglass.com/blog/foundational-infographic-elements-for-link-baiters/ SEOmoz also has an extensive post on the infographic development and marketing process at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-to-build-links-with-infographics.

Google Places Missing Listings
Without knowing exactly what is happening, you may want to create a post on the Google Maps Help forum which they have in place for exactly these issues. http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/maps?hl=en Are you doing anything with the keywords or anything like that? I have had entries get declined, but they usually still appear on the account. Posting to that forum is your best bet as those folks are sharp and Google will respond and they can look in the back end.
