I'm looking for feedback from anyone who has launched a community site to see:

1- what kind of SEO benefits you've received and how were you able to measure it and correlate traffic to the community site.

2- what community site platform did you use (i.e. Drupal, Lithium, etc.)

3- does the platform you use affect SEO one way or another (is one better for SEO than another)?

I have a question about keyword variations. To be specific, let's say "blue upside down cars" has low competition but fairly low traffic. However, the shortened variation "upside down cars" has low competition but extremely high traffic. Can I double my bet by going ahead and using "blue upside down cars" whereby in some instances Google would refer traffic based on the entire keyword, but it would also refer traffic based on the the last part of the keyword which has the higher traffic ("upside down cars"). In this case, we would optimize around "blue upside down cars" with hopes of getting traffic for both keywords (the long tail and longer tail).

Is there any reason not to pursue this strategy? I hope I made sense!

OK, so it's basically the page content. I am just using the "page elements" window (sorry, I had said "page attributes" incorrectly in my question) that's part of the SEOMoz tool (the Firefox plug in). I'm using it to help me find the spots that need to be filled in and also using this SEOMoz article to help define the slots that need to be filled in. It seems the html text is simply the page content - all clear. Thanks!

I am using the "page attributes" tool for a guideline for what I am filling in on each page of my website. I feel like I've done my homework on this, but I can't figure out what "html text" is.

**HTML Text ** ... not sure what to put here, how long it should be, what it's purpose is, etc. Any SEOMoz links helping me figure that out? I'm not finding it in the "Basics of Search Engine Design" article posted here on SEOMoz.

I've nearly set up three of my 5 campaigns so far and have found the populating the keywords is very time consuming. Is there a way for, say, Campaign #2 to use the same keywords as Campaign #1 without populating the new campaign manually? After all, the only reason I am setting up this second (and beyond) campaigns is because I want to compare the same keywords against additional competitors.

Also, I was mid-way through setting up this third campaign when I ran out of keywords because I only get 300 per account? Is this correct? That is fine if I can replicate the same set of keywords per account, but it appears to have tallied each list of keywords, in each of my 3 campaigns, at 300 and I ran out before finishing this third campaign. I'll work with whatever the number is, but it seems strange that there isn't an option to have a single set of 300 keywords applied to each campaign that you set up.

Am I misunderstanding something? Looking for help ...

There seems to be a consensus on what issue is, although I asked some extra questions in my reply above to Ryan. Kind of confusing. The blog should be setup as a subdomain, right?

This was very helpful (as were the other two replies) so I am hoping you can help clarify how I can get this addressed. (going with list format to simplify):

1- I tried to set up my campaign to look at the root domain, but it said that my website is set up as a subdomain automatically converted this step of the process to "subdomain".

2- SEOMoz Pro did tell me at some point in the setup process about what you mentioned above, which is that there are two versions of my site. This may have been at the setup point where it converted root domain to subdomain, though I can't recall.

3- When you say "choose" one version of my site, do you mean as far as what SEOMoz crawls? Or are you suggesting I make a change to the site itself?

4- The blog is, I believe, set up as a subdomain (with www.blogs.aerohive.com) and it is hosted by a third-party. I set up the dedicated blog campaign as a subdomain, but had some difficulty with it as well. Not sure if that was correctly set up or not.

Basically I am trying to understand what was set up correctly or incorrectly within SEOMoz and what can fix and what I can fix with my website so that I can better analyze it here (and obviously get search engine approval as the ultimate goal).

I think you are right, but I think there is something wrong with the way this tool is analyzing my pages. I explained what I think is going on in Ryan's thread above. Like maybe this is an analysis of the website page (which I have analyzed in a separate campaign) vs. an actual blog page, which I am attempting to analyze as a dedicated campaign for my blog.

I think what's happening, and I don't understand this part especially (although I eluded to it originally), but I am analyzing my blog, the "too many links" is under my blog campaign, but when it names a "page" it is actually a website page renamed with the blog title. I will post an example but it will come up as a bad link for you I think.
