  • Agree with Alick3000, broad match modified keywords would be far more attractive, and as per link values, nothing would be driven by this process. Using broad match allows you to match a series of keywords to any longtail phrase. Providing the +keywords you use are present, then your advert/adverts will potentially appear. As per +summer +dresses - from Alick300 - this would match both of your longtail ideas and more. e.g. Top 10 highest rated summer dresses Popular dresses for the summer weather. Where can I buy spring/summer ladies dresses blue summer dresses size 10 dresses with a summer print etc As you can see it gives you a much wider target whilst still being specific to your needs. I hope this helps. Tim

  • I try to stay relevant to the tag of the article or use the Title of the article. It is not about stuffing keywords in places. It is about relevancy. Here is a cornerstone article: https://www.brightvessel.com/21-tips-woocommerce-website-design One of my supporting article: https://www.brightvessel.com/multiplying-e-commerce-site-conversions/ At the bottom: I added a link. If you like this post, check out 21 Tips for WooCommerce Website Design For me, I like things to be understandable and relevant to each article I link to, which works. I would use the mindset that your providing information and how you link that information needs to display that way.

  • Hey Kate, It's great that you've started thinking about optimizing your content for Christmas now in summer. It really takes time. Regarding your question, I'd prepare a separate page for "C_hristmas gifts for Mum" w_ith optimized content. Then I would start a link building campaign for that page through relevant anchor texts including the "Christmas KWs". This should boost the rankings for your page. I wouldn't be worried about relevancy too much. As said, it takes time and Google will see that you're prepared. You'll have time to get some stats for your page as well. Looking forward to some other opinions in the discussion. Cheers, Martin

  • Thanks Miriam.  I too am doing some research on the correlation.  It seems like common sense but I was something to prove it.  I'll be in touch with my findings.

  • Turns out the format of the robots.txt file needed to be listed as UTF8 in my .htaccess file. All working now. That was a wasted week playing with security etc but I have to give it to the MOZ CS. they didn't give up.

  • Although I haven't tested this myself, I've heard others say that removing the meta description is one way to get Google to show a bigger description in the search results because they pull information off your website instead of sticking to the character limit of the tag.

  • Joy's advice actually provides point #5, Jeremy. Personally, I wouldn't recommend outing your own client for review spam, but in addition to consumers realizing reviews are fake, your client's competitors and their SEOs may realize it and report the reviews to the GMB forum or to a Top Contributor like Joy, etc. So, that would be a 5th point to raise with your client.

  • Hi hoosteeno, It's obviously tricky to diagnose specific technical issues in the abstract, without looking at the specific site, but here are some resources and ideas that might help: Rand recently talked about ranking fluctuations on whiteboard Friday - that'll be worth checking out Major site redesigns can cause quite a bit of fluctuation, but you don't want to wait around to find out weeks or months later that there is a technical issue, so I would suggest working through this checklist It's worth checking whether you have accidentally caused a load of new on-site duplicate content with the recent work - that's one other thing that could cause weird in / out fluctuations Hope something there helps. Good luck!

  • Ryan, Think of it as a pyramid where the best content is at the very top and all the supporting content is linking upward to the one page the one page you will want Google to rank you best on. Google will really only give you in most cases. So when you write several articles targeting the same keyword phrase. You will want the cornerstone article as the one Google will find the most attractive because all the other articles link to it. Example Corner Stone: 51 Tips On How to Build a Great SEO Plan A. How to Build a Great Header B. How to Build a Great Footer C. What is a Good UI/UX Supporting topics like a A, B, and C you could link to the "51 Tips On How to Build a Great SEO Plan" telling Google this is more important to take into consideration then the A, B, and C. articles. • The answer of Martin is correct. Moreover, the use of subfolder at the start is a good way of giving some strength to the new geo-targeted versions thanks to PageRank flow through internal linking. However, in the middle term, I suggest you to start monitoring if the new geo-targeted versions are earning enough traffic and conversions (both metrics must always go together) to eventually justify the migration, for instance, of the french version from the subfolder to a .fr domain name. In the meanwhile, though, remember that, even if the new geo-targeted versions are living into the .com domain and earning authority from the backlinks earned by the .com site, you should consider them as if they were totally separate domains in terms of authority and relevance. In other words: you must build links for your /ie and /fr versions if you want them to really rank for competitive keywords.
