Hi Joseph, I definitely feel you on this! I hope you'll hear back from someone who can show you measurable results of a small real estate agency managing to run with the big boys, but my take on this is that many of Google's local-oriented SERPs right now are very narrow in terms of brand diversity. Something I've been noticing for the past year or so is how dominant Yelp has become for practically any local search term relating to restaurants, hotels and a ton of other searches. Pretty much any search in these areas returns Yelp results, but few other directory-type results. There used to be more diversity, in my opinion, and it's almost as if Google had tightened their belts. I'm going to actively watch this thread to see if you get a response from someone who is specializing in real estate SEO in case they can provide some screenshots of their small business clients managing to outrank the giant/aggregate sites. Crossing my fingers for you!

Ok, thanks for the answer and for the link. It seems that only 4 people asked for Piwik integration, which means it's not coming anytime soon. In addition to what Lynn has already jumped on for the QS portion of your question, I believe it is frowned upon to send AdWords traffic to the redirected page. I would suggest just sending traffic to the page that you want people to go to. If this page isn't the best page to send people to with simple things like H1 tags (nearly) matching the listed KWs, then you might want to create a new page that answers the searcher's query. Also, it's my opinion that it's poor usability to not have the logo link to home on a landing page like this.

As Dan has suggested, you may be best to contact Moz support about this, but it's not really a case of Moz not understanding the characters but the characters being different. For example, the letter ā is not the same as a I am not an expert at this but: ā would encode to this in a URL: %26%23257%3B whereas a would encode to this: a For your keywords, bīstamo-kravu-pārvadājumi would encode to this: b%26%23299%3Bstamo-kravu-p%26%23257%3Brvad%26%23257%3Bjumi and not this: bistamo-kravu-parvadajumi It might be worth trying b%26%23299%3Bstamo-kravu-p%26%23257%3Brvad%26%23257%3Bjumi as the URL rather than bistamo-kravu-parvadajumi and then re-testing in Moz. Many thanks, that is what I have been trying to explain to the client but they really are concerned about the penalty even though I can not see any evidence of it. I am in the process of sorting out the their blog and a useful guide area so this will really help my argument.

Hi Manroop, You posted this a while ago and I wondered what you decided to do in the end and what the outcome was.  I'm interested as I, too, have been hit by Penguin. I've disvowed/removed links, but have not had any further joy - although I need to wait until the next Penguin update before deciding on next steps.  Probably changing the domain is the next step.

Definitely agree with others that this is not Hummingbird. It's possible that you were hit with something more like Penguin - Google only warns about manual penalties in GWT, not algorithmic penalties. Also agree with others that these tactics are absolutely likely to get you in trouble sooner or later. Unfortunately, new sites are very vulnerable. I believe there's almost a reverse sandbox in play right now (for lack of a better phrase) - new sites get a grace period and can rank pretty well out the gate. Then, Google starts looking for signals to sort out if the site has long-term potential and should continue to rank. If you've hit low-quality tactics hard very early, this is when the hammer is likely to come down, and it's going to come down hard, because you don't have many positive signals in play. Without a foundation of solid, legitimate links, social signals, etc., and spammy links are going to do a lot more damage. If you've hit these tactics really hard, and the sites are that new, I'll be brutally honest - you're probably either going to have to cut or disavow the vast majority of your links or just start over. You pushed too hard, too fast, from your description.

Often the questions we get are ones that other users are able to answer before a help desk employee can get to them, and this way several people can see the answer as well. There are sometimes downsides, such as right now when there's an individual problem that needs direct attention by the help desk. However, often the question is more like "how do I unarchive a campaign" and the question will get an answer in minutes, even at 2 in the morning Seattle time, because another user is online and able to answer.

Both are quite different, so it really depends on what you are after.  I'm actually a big fan of majestiseo (just to confuse things further).  OSE is good for understanding the big picture. However I find that its crawl isn't anywhere deep enough for the stuff I work on - particularly in terms of deep pages on large authority sites.  Example:  links from the bbc are almost the holy grail for some of the projects that I work on, but OSE often misses them. Ahrefs is better, and majestic goes deeper still. The down-side of that is that you get a lot more low quality stuff to sort through. In terms of majestic v ahrefs, ahrefs definitely wins in terms of interface / tools.  I'm an excel guy though, so it is all about the data for me - hence majestic being my "weapon of choice".

Your best bet is to place a meta noindex tag on each secure page.  If it's only a few pages, you could just add it by hand.  If it's many, you should be able to access each pages protocol with whatever server-side language you're using, and dynamically add it on all secure pages. If you use robots.txt to exclude the pages, Google can still show them in search results, with the description below them that reads, "A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt – learn more."  Personally, I don't care for that.

I have used Host Gator and GoDaddy in the past. To be honest I find Host Gator to be a better for what I needed at the time. Overall these three solutions are entry level hosting providers.
