Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • So glad I could help, Gina! Google definitely marches to the beat of their own proprietary drum. :]

  • Hi, Thanks for your replies. But Yes I am tracking mine and competitors ranks as well but my ranks are being updated but competitor's ranks are still not updated. I have added my keywords since long now but I am confused when seomoz updates the ranks? Does only tracking is the way to update our ranking history? Is it done on weekly basis? Regards, Zeeshan

  • Hi Bob, The first thing I looked for when visiting your site was a big "what is nlp" button, I really had no idea! Maybe google is thinking (or has started thinking) a bit like this for the search term nlp also? With the potential for local results etc mixed in it seems to me that the term could be a bit volitile in terms of rankings and your experience possibly hints at that. I see the sitelinks you mention if I search for nplcalifornia with no space, but am not well aquainted with these expanded sitelinks and their finer points, maybe someone else? I would still be wary of messing too much with those site wide links!

  • Hi! It looks like Roger is getting stuck on the 301 redirects you have set up for your campaigns.  The best way to get this resolved is to archive the existing campaigns and create new ones with the updated domain.  For example, if seomoz.org is redirecting to www.seomoz.org, the campaign should be set up with the subdomain (www.seomoz.org). You can archive your existing campaigns in case you ever need to reactivate them.  Hopefully this helps.  Thanks! Best, Sam Moz Helpster

  • You should be able to get a decent sample if you run an advance report and select to only display links from different IP addresses, that will just show you links from different sites so you won't be filling up your quota with multiple links from each page. I hope that helps. Really just spend some time playing with the parameters in the Advanced reports you'll find you can get almost any mix you're after. Cheers, Joel.

  • The base url http://www.thegreatgiftcompany.com/categories/categories_travel?sort=name_asc&searchterm=&page=1&layout=table is indexed by Google - what is evident is that the url would be classes as having too many variables to be indexed correctly. If it's a big issue just add it to robots.txt but i don't think its a big issue. Also for clarity canonicals should be absolute and not relative, this prevents all kinds of issues.

  • Howdy Pilkster! Sounds like your method is pretty good, and I don't have too many suggestions to improve it. In my experience, lot of sites either cloak or redirect affiliate links, so I bet they can be near impossible to find, even for search engines! OSE advanced reports can filter by anchor text and several other variables, but as you noted it can't sort by URL parameters. If you'd like to see this as a feature request, we have a forum for that - https://seomoz.zendesk.com/forums/293194-SEOmoz-PRO-Feature-Requests (it would be a pretty cool feature actually - I'd vote for it As for only seeing 25 links per domain, this could miss some links, but I suspect the majority of the time if a domain links to another with an affiliate link, most of the links would also be affiliate links. There are plans to expose more of this data in the future, at least through the API. Thanks for the feedback!

  • Thank you so much for reaching out to us, Ryan! This question is a bit intricate. With AJAX content like this, I know Google's Full Specifications https://developers.google.com/webmasters/ajax-crawling/docs/specification indicate that the #! and ?escaped_fragment= technique works for their crawlers. However, our system is a bit picky and isn't robust enough yet to use only the sitemap as the reference in this case. Luckily, one of our wonderful users came up with a solution using pushState() method. Click here: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/create-crawlable-link-friendly-ajax-websites-using-pushstate to find out how to create crawl-able content using pushState . This should help OSE capture AJAX content. Let me know if this information works for you! I hope this helps

  • Hi there, Thanks for reaching out!  I am sorry that you are being banned by Google  All of our services exists in the cloud, so the IPs we employ are quite numerous so I do not think that is the issue.  Fortunately if you are using our webapp or Mozbar you will still be able to pull our proprietary metrics since the queries are made from our end. Hope that helps, thanks for your patience while I answer this question! Best, Peter SEOmoz Help Team.

  • Hi there, Thanks for writing in!  I am sorry that you had some trouble finding the documentation for our Sort calls.  We are in the process of updating and creating new documentations for the API I think you will be happy with.  In the meantime you should be able to find the documentations under: http://apiwiki.seomoz.org/link-metrics Hope that helps! Best, Peter SEOmoz Help Team.

  • Hi Dana, Thanks for writing in. The robots.txt file would not cause a 403 error. That type of error is actually related to the way the server responds to our crawler. Basically, this means the server for the site is telling our crawler that we are not allowed to access the site. Here is a resource that explains the 403 http status code pretty thoroughly: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/403error.htm I looked at both of the campaigns on your account and I am not seeing a 403 error for either site, though I do see a couple of 404 page not found errors on one of the campaigns, which is a different issue. If you are still seeing the 403 error message on one of your crawls, you would just need to have the webmaster update the server to allow rogerbot to access the site. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions. -Chiaryn

  • Hey Matt, Thanks for reaching out. What you're likely seeing is the links that are to your co.uk are passing along their links to your .com site via that 301. The 301 itself isn't counted as a link, but any links to those pages with the 301 will be. I hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have any further questions about that. Cheers, Joel.
