Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Hi Bruce, This is the first place to start your reading: http://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seo. One of the most comprehensive beginners guides you will find. With your link building, read the section in the guide on this before going out to try and acquire them. -Andy

  • Hey Carmelo, It looks like you are encountering a bit of a different issue. It sounds like you are receiving the error when you try to connect with Google Analytics rather than when you try to make an API call. I'm really sorry about that. Google is currently having some authentication issues on their end. The issue seems to be clearing up and we are monitoring the issue as it resolved. If you are still encountering the issue, please contact our Help Team here: http://moz.com/help/contact for further assistance. Chiaryn

  • Come to think of it, the only thing we did do was fire the SEO company that we had working for us, and started doing SEO in house, but this doesn't make sense in terms of rapid shifts in duplicate content.

  • Hi I raised a similar question yesterday. http://moz.com/community/q/no-access-for-uk-get-listed-and-now-moz-local-alternatives-to-moz I use Whitespark which is good but someone kindly also recommended Brighton Local yesterday.

  • @Claudio and Chris, thank you. Claudio, yes you've cleared it up for me. Although I was going into the second option for search volume, I wasn't for some stupid reason clicking on the keywords to separate them from the groups to get results for each keywords. That's the bit that was frustrating me. Your response made me look further. So thank you. It's helped me make a decision on a domain.

  • Bryan, I've just purchased this and set it up. I'm only just getting to grips with it, but it is an awesome bit of kit, and I'm really happy to have dived in and installed it after your recommendation. Thanks for that!

  • Hi Ruben, It could mean that yes you are doing something right, as in getting more links, or just that moz has recently crawled or found more links, and as result you are seeing a jump in your DA. A 2-5 point increase or decrease is not out of the ordinary Here is more relevant info: http://moz.com/community/q/freaked-out-over-domain-authority-ranking-drop Hope this helps!

  • Hi Anthony, Unless you find a campaign or individual who has been tracking results, either for a specific keyword or for a specific domain, you can't retroactively do this through tools like Moz. You can use Searchmetrics' domain visibility tool to see how dominant a site has been in its niche over time, however, which gives you a rough understanding of whether it has ranked well or poorly for its keywords over time: http://suite.searchmetrics.com/en/research/domains/visibility My former agency has an in-house process like this that we used daily (I wrote about how it works in this post, although it has been developed into a tool and is more sophisticated now). It's useful for when you want to look at historic performance but don't have specific ranking reports and Searchmetrics is a great public alternative. I hope this helps! Jane

  • Using site:yourdomain.com in Google, and then going to the end of the results and telling it to show you all of the results, is a good first start. It should get you enough to get an idea of why there are duplicated pages. The Moz crawl can also help you figure it out, as often with ecommerce you'll have URLs for sorting products by price, name, pagination parameters, etc. We'll throw up a flag when we see a bunch of duplicate content or duplicate titles. Also look for the easy stuff, such as non-www doesn't direct to www. Fix that, and you've cut your pages in half.

  • Depends on the type of penalty. Manual spam penalties almost always target the entire site. Algorithmic filters like Penguin can target groups of specific keywords. Though to an outside observer, it's often hard to tell them apart.

  • Hi Chris, Definitely no stupid questions here, and your question is an excellent one. I have to start by saying that I have pretty much zero faith in keyword tools these days. Neither Google nor Bing's KW tools work well for local keywords. It's depressing. Moving on, local searches are typically much more refined than what you are describing, in that they center on city names, not state names. Google will return local packs of results for queries that they determine have a city-based intent, whether or not the searcher includes a geo modifier in their query. Of course, there are instances in which someone might be searching for a statewide object (like National Parks in Colorado), but are you certain this is the way people are searching for what your company offers, or could it be that they would be looking by city names instead? This plays into whether you feel you need to compete on a statewide or city level. So, I guess I'm answering your question with another question! Is the business model truly local (city level) or is it a statewide business and perhaps, even, a virtual business?

  • Hi Gregory, That's a nice idea, I think I'll give that a go. I think all I want at this point is for someone to take a couple of hours every month to take a look, see what work we've done, provide some fresh ideas, point us in the right direction and then leave us alone for another month while we work on the points given along with integrating our own ideas. Thanks again

  • Hi, I would like to know if this idea, of excluding a subfolder from a campaign, is available now? If so, how do I set it up? We have a forum in a subfolder and all the data from it kind of blurs my main interest using Seomoz for this website.

  • With this type of discrepancy, that's often the case. Either the site has been penalized or the linking sites have been devalued in some way (say, a link network). DA/PA basically model the raw strength of the link profile, but they don't account for some quality factors. Of course, that assumes the toolbar PR is up-to-date and accurate, which is a fairly big assumption these days, IMO.

  • +1 to what Keri said. Facebook is pretty restrictive. There used to be a great G+ product out there, Find me on Plus, but it seems to have gone the way of the Dodo. Not sure what happened there. I know we are doing some interesting stuff internally w/ G+ and hope that it will see the light of day in product.
