Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Hi, I am having the same issue. I had a keyword ranking 10 yesterday, today I have 13. For the other one I had ranking 8, now not in top 50. Why is this happening?

  • I would recommend Screaming Frog as well, but a couple free alternatives were recently mentioned in a YOUMOZ post, http://moz.com/ugc/conduct-a-backlink-profile-analysis-with-excel-case-study

  • Does this tool still work with Google results? I'm seeing that regardless of what search engine I choose from the drop down that in the results portion of the page it always says "Bing Search Volume" leading me to believe that the keyword difficulty portion is also in terms of Bing searches. Thank you,

  • You've gotten some excellent advice already.  I'll add a few of my thoughts. First of all, have you been doing link building?  If not, then this may not be the right road to go down.  If you've noticed a drop just recently, it may be that the Panda algorithm is affecting your site and Panda really isn't about link quality.  There was a big Panda update on May 20 although many sites started seeing changes a couple of days before that. If you have been doing link building and you want to clean up your links then the goal is to find ones that were self made with the intention of gaming Google and then remove or disavow those. William's list is a good place to start.

  • The company page would be suited to the rel=publisher tag The better way to explain the author tag is like a book. On the back of the book you don't have info on the publisher but the author the same is true here, the tag is to say who wrote the content not who published it thus the two tags. So you want to use the author tag on the personal profile or who ever wrote it. in short: use your personal profile.

  • Oh yes Andrew. You should invest some serious time to clean the link profile so that it looks natural and organic. We have seen dramatic improvements with clean link profiles.

  • it depends heavily on your niche. If everyone is doing it then it means that it is lucrative and these guys will just make churn and burn domains just to cash in so it will never go away permanently. You'll see sites come and go but eventually, you will win if you keep up the work.

  • Hi By, Thank you for your response. I will keep this info in mind. My main issue was interpreting the issues that came up on the web crawl. I am in the process of researching how to fix the issues. thanks again. It appears much of the dup content issues revolve around links/URL's tied to terms I tagged in blog articles on the site (I am editing this site in Wordpress). A couple of the dup content issues are related to primary pages (one being the primary URL for the blog itself). We recently changed some things around on the sitemap so hopefully that will help.

  • I certainly think that gradually adding pages and focusing on quality will help. The problem is that the devil really is in the details. The size of your current site, the type of pages you currently index, your link profile, the type of niche/industry you're in... all of these things matter, to some degree. So, what works for one site might be a problem for another. Easing into it is definitely going to mitigate your risks, and I think focusing on the most high-impact pages while leaving the other filters/sorts/etc. out of the index is a good idea. Whether this strategy is going to provide real value over the time is the bigger question. Ultimately, I think internal search pages have been devalued a lot, even on reputable sites. I've been through this with a former client - they have a perfectly legitimate business model and provide good value to users, but Google sees them as a directory and much of their index is necessarily search results. Over time, even though they've never been penalized, they've just seen a steady decline, because it takes more than that to rank now.

  • Depending on how quickly you want the scraped content taken down you could file a DMCA request. (This is the FAQ's page about it. http://www.dmca.com/FAQ/What-is-a-DMCA-Takedown). It's not cheap, but I've heard they are as fast as they claim, though I have no personal experience with it. I would also check out this site: http://archive.org/web/ It stores pages on the web. Assuming your pages were stored on there, you could (possibly) prove that your content was the original source. Best, Ruben

  • Agree totally with Matt-Antonino. This Moz post, by Dan Shure, was the one I found most helpful when trying to figure out how to index (or not index) pages and posts. http://moz.com/blog/setup-wordpress-for-seo-success The post speaks specifically to Wordpress, but concepts are transferable to any implementation.
