Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Not a bad idea, and I can do that right from my SEO plugin of choice. Dummy ?'s: Will that disallow addition catch them even if they are at the end of a child page? Also, for correct coding, wouldn't I need the wildcard to go after the ?=, ie Disallow: /?=* and not place the * in front of the ?=... Please clarify for me before I add this line of code. Thanks for your help Dean! Sorry for the late edit of the question.

  • Rank tracker is updated weekly and it is generally accurate but as the results shift constantly it may sometimes be different to a 'live' check.  As an average figure however, especially when there's lots of keywords, it's still pretty useful.

  • I managed to auto-resolve that. I tried to delete the question but looks like I can't. So, if that can be useful to someone else, I had an iframe in the page with a <title>Untitled document</title> (!) which was causing that.

  • Removing the page should more than likely be a basic task. However knowing if what they have done was worthwhile would require a well-practiced eye. I don't want to discourage you, but it sounds like you may not be that well-versed with off-page. So, for the low low cost of reading this; I can give you a few things to watch out for. I'm sure some others will jump in, and I would be grateful for that as well. I probably won't remember to mention everything, and I may learn something. All of that is the real reason I come back to Q&A, aside from the fact that I want to solve problems. I blame my dad. Nevertheless, here's what to look out for: A lot of exact match anchors (your target keywords) Low quality directories (You will know them if you can search adult, pharma and casino keywords in their search function.) Paid stuffs (A dead giveaway is an 'Ad' that actually passes juice - not nofollow or otherwise 'neutered'.) Unrelated links (This means you, due to the reciprocals. You aren't related to a thatcher in New Zealand... or at least most likely not.) All of the above are examples of things that may get your site penalized, depending on the circumstances. Now if the agency was doing a lot of low quality directory listings, there's actually something pretty new you should be aware of. A lot of low quality directories are blocking popular crawlers. So maybe a lot of links aren't gone, just your favorite crawlers have been blocked. Get all your standard link datas: GWT, BWT, Majestic, Ahrefs, etc. - filter duplicates and commence crawling. That's where Screaming Frog also comes in handy. You can spoof a popular user agent, thus you will not be blocked. So you will have a better idea of the actual links that exist, or don't exist, to your site. This is what you have to do, brochacho. Chin up.

  • My answer is totally based on my experience and the information you have provided so far. I believe that your website is not under any manual penalty but still due to the low quality of links you have built over the period of time; it is now affecting your rankings. How to get out of it? The best way to start is by auditing your links, get all the links from Open Site Explorer, Google Webmaster Tool and if you can invest then get the link profile of your website from Majestic SEO as they have the largest index of links among all. Audit the link profit and separate the bad links (you can use software like Link Detox and Link Risk here) from the profile and try to remove as many bad links from the link profile as possible and create a disavow file for the rest. Upload the Disavow file in Google Webmaster tool and you are half done! This way you have told Google that you don’t want a link juice from the list of links that you have updated in the disavow file. The step two is to create regular and kick ass content on the website and get quality links back to the website. After submitting the disavow file your core job is to create quality content and get high quality links naturally that points back to the website. Hope this helps!

  • I believe (please correct me if I'm wrong) that the page grader looks at the ratio of keywords to other text, not just a simple case of counting the number of times a keyword is used on the page - a 200 word page with 15 instances of the keyword would look stuffed, but a 2000 word page with 15 instances of the keyword (and its variations) would not look over stuffed - so long as you don't start listing keywords for the sake of it (this happens a lot with local optimisation - wood flooring london, wood flooring manchester, wood flooring birmingham, etc etc - yuk!) Hope this helps explain my suggestion.

  • Hm, have you looked into rel canonical? If those are all stand alone pages, you will have to redirect, if they are no longer active, or if they can be replaced by the original page. Andy is correct, those pages likely are not 'created' with intent. You should look at what is causing this issue and start there. If not, you are going to be redirecting till the cows come home. If you are deciding on going through 301's, you may want to take a step back and look at the folders of the entire domain. /ll/ is a folder but not a page, nor is /ll/c/. Good Luck, Alan!

  • We're seeing the same issue. Multiple pages are flagged as "duplicate content" but each retains a single rel canonical tag pointing to the same url.

  • This appears to have fixed the problem, thank you.  Had to add a non-breaking space before {% endif %}{{ page_title }} but from what I can tell, your solution resolved the character count discrepancy.  I expect this will be validated when Moz re-crawls the site.

  • Samuel pretty much nailed it up there. I'd only make one change—that particular Help article is actually referring to the Link Analysis section of the old Pro app. You can find the corresponding article, updated for Moz Analytics, here: http://moz.com/help/guides/links For an excellent overview of all the tools in Moz Analytics, you can also take a look at our Getting Started guide, which can be found at http://moz.com/help/guides/getting-started. Does that help at all?

  • Yeah, I've had an issue w duplicate content (not actually on the site yet, but just personally as I've worked on plenty of other sites that were not ecommerce) and actually asking this question made me dig deeper. I've figured out my appropriate structure and how to keep the strength I've already created. I have variable descriptions for each product, no matter how similar - right now, but I would much prefer to give one page a HUGE staying power rather than spreading the net thin to get results and realizing later that I had way more to manage than I should just to keep the great Google happy. I appreciate the response!

  • Cool JohnnyRoc, Don't trim unnecessarily. Consider canonical tagging content groupings rather than deleting pages. It's a practice used, for example, when you're trying to rank for "patriotic tshirts" that come in multiple sizes. D

  • Hi there, The Moz app and tool set is designed to work with languages in a UTF-8 format and best with those that use English character sets. This will unfortunately mean you'll probable run into reliability issues with data around other languages like Persion, Farsi, Mandarin, etc. There really isn't a way around this one. I'll be sure to pass it along as feedback to our Product team on your behalf.

  • A couple tips for Q&A.... Use the "Email Updates" button for any question that is interesting or that might be useful to you in the future.   That button will cause a copy of all replies to that question to be emailed to you.   That allows you to see all of the replies that occur and learn a lot from other members.   This is one of the fastest ways to improve your skills and knowledge and learn who can answer the questions where you need help.    http://moz.com/community/q/how-to-learn-a-lot-from-moz-q-a Visit Q&A even when you don't have a question.   Somebody is probably posting interesting stuff so pop in a couple times a week when you need a break.    If you see a question that you can answer, share your expertise.   If you do that regularly, people will remember that you are a helpful person.....  and when you ask for help you will probably get GOLD in return. 3) Pay attention when somebody comes into  Q&A cryin' and says... "Wah!   My traffic dropped."   That's how you learn about the trip wires that Google has set out to catch weasels and innocent people too. If you ask a question and get two replies.  The suggestion that requires the most work is probably the better one.
