Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Yes, we try not to crawl garbage directories, no matter how large they are. Check out Dr Pete's post, Where's The Love, DMOZ?, where he talks about how a lot of the large directories that are spammy (or even ones that aren't) aren't index by either OSE or Google, especially as the categories get more finite. We currently don't have a place to suggest sites. However, you can head here to vote up the suggest feature for a place to submit/suggest sites for indexing.

  • Sorry SeoMoz! I usually use Majestic Seo to check my backlink process.  I don't know the timelines for when they update, but their charts make me feel better about my link building (since the usually show growth).

  • We've had a problem with the crawls doing this lately. Could you please send an email to help desk with your campaign information so we can track it that way? help@seomoz.org. Thanks so much!

  • Hi Elke, An initial Pro campaign will take up to 7 days to complete and will crawl up to a maximum 10,000 URLs for the root domain or sub domain that you choose to set it up for. The Crawl Test tool is intended to provide a "quick start " option, which will report against the same diagnostic information, but for a limited number of URLs (3,000 & max of 2 domains per day). This allows you to get started on tidying up site issues while waiting for the full crawl to complete. Since the Crawl Test tool allows you to run the quick crawl for any subdomain, it can also be useful for taking a look at the health of established sites you may be quoting on etc. Hope that helps, Sha

  • Thanks for the reply, but my site is a blog. I'm thought wordpress (or a plugin) was supposed to create the content in a way where those pages I mentioned wouldn't have duplicate content. Plus these are entire categories that are showing duplicate....so basically I'm trying to figure out if the "duplicate content" that's showing is actually hurting me serp or not...and if I need to try to fix it.

  • There s a lot yopu can do with internal links including giving relevance to a page and pushing your PR aound the site. you can not increase the sites PR by internal linking, but you can make some pages rank higher at the exspence of others. http://perthseocompany.com.au/seo/tutorials/a-simple-explanation-of-pagerank

  • Take a look at the WordPress plugin, ALL IN ONE SEO.  WordPress is notorious for this issue by default (blog index, archive index, category index, post itself will all conflict).  If the issue is between the articles itself, I posted a YouMoz yesterday that explains how a PHP-savvy person could use the levenshtein() function to identify which articles conflict in your database.

  • This is a really interesting question, because Google webmaster doesn't actually display rankings, but "average position." For example, let's say you rank #1 for a keyword phrase, but another URL on your same site ranks #50. In this case Google will report your average position as 25! Now this is an extreme example, but "average position" in Google Webmaster tools is almost always lower than your actual ranking. Or consider the example below. SEOmoz ranks #1 for "seomoz" but Google Webmaster reports the average position as 4. It doesn't really make any sense.

  • @ Robert - The keyword density os ok for that page. I've seen many sites that have lots of pages linking to itself and a link in header or in footer with the most important kw on all internal pages. I know that it will not boost your rankings but it is easier to place an internal link with the anchor text desired. @SeoShark - The link is placed in footer and yes, without that link and term i am happy with the density.

  • Ok, thanks. I get the overall point you're making, and will indeed focus more on link quality... I guess my gripe is that if the # of linking root domains (for example) are to be counted at ALL - even as a corollary ranking factor - then it would be really good to be sure of the accuracy of the data, which it's hard to be when Majestic, for example, presents such different numbers in each case.

  • That is not correct, every previous crawl finishes within 7 days of the previous one and new results are updated. I contacted SEOMOZ and they advised that there is a problem on their end which is causing two of my campaigns to not be crawled. This is unfortunate as I rely on this data to make improvements, but i guess it is what it is...

  • No disrespect, but how does your answer answer these questions: 1.  Why is an image ranking google search results as if it is a normal page? 2.  How did the image become it's on page? I''m not sure how this happened since that image was used in a page. Somehow the image itself has become it's on page and is getting ranked in google. 3.  When a user find that page (which is ranking on the first page of google) they will be confused since it's an image and there is no blog info on there.  I wonder if I should redirect that page to another instead. I don't want a lot of people going to that page and then quickly leaving, which will hurt my ranking. 4.  There are other questions I asked, that you didn't provide details either. You said I should focus on "writing quality content" and "improve my keyword research." Ha,ha...I already know this. That doesn't have anything to do with my question.
