Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Actually it has been the same for me and my websites. I am constantly building links to them, but it appears that OSE gets an avg 10-20% of the whole quantity.

  • Hi blocker0408, There is an issue that has been identified with the Linkscape update which occurred earlier today. This means that Page Authority & Domain Authority in Open Site Explorer are off at the moment. The engineering team at SEOmoz are working on the problem and will update as soon as the issue is rectified. You can follow @SEOmoz on Twitter to keep up to date on what is happening with the issue and that way you will know when things are back on track. Hope that helps, Sha

  • Hi guys! So sorry about this, it looks like it is related to our latest index update that went out today. Our engineers are looking into it right now to get it fixed. We'll report back wen it's updated. Thanks!

  • Hi Gabe, That would be a cool feature. Unfortunately, at this time there isn't a method for adjusting reports to a specific time period. The ranking tab has an option for downloading your entire ranking history to csv. You can manipulate this data in Excel to create time-based ranking reports. As for custom reports, these are generated on a weekly or monthly basis, but not for historical data. If this is a feature you would like to see, feel free to submit it to the PRO feature request forum, where members can vote on it to put it in the queue. Thanks for suggestions, and best of luck with your SEO!

  • This is almost a philosophical question, like "If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, did it make a sound?" In this example, if Google shows Places results in its regular SERPs, does it matter the format? Most would argue that a #3 position is #3, no matter how it's formatted. The general public won't recognize the difference, and all indications are that click-through rates are about the same. Regardless, to answer your question about how SEOmoz tracks rankings, the PRO platform tracks rankings in a way that is location-agnostic which means that in most cases, localization isn't a factor and "traditional" Places listings don't show up. That said, for many queries with local intent, Google will display results that mimic Places listings, like this result here. Whatever Google returns as the result to SEOmoz crawlers, this will be recorded as your rank. So long answer short, the PRO platform doesn't distinguish between regular SERPs or Places SERPs, as long as those results are returned by the search engine for your query.

  • I appreciate the response Cyrus. That's exactly what I was looking for. It looks like the discrepancy comes from internal link count, which I hadn't considered. Thanks!

  • Hi, It is quite possible for Page Authority to be higher than Domain Authority as the two are independent of each other. PA is essentially a measure of how likely an individual page is to rank, while DA applies across entire domains & sub domains. To understand how PA & DA are calculated and what they actually mean, take a look at these resources Page Authority and Domain Authority. SEOmoz recently introduced an update to the calculation of PA & DA which has brought a higher level of accuracy. You can read this post about the improvement - Introducing SEOmoz Updated Page Authority & Domain Authority. This one goes into some depth as to the reasons & methods used in calculating both. Hope that helps, Sha

  • Have a canonical tag on your pages, regardless of whether or not you have the same page in other places, will not harm you. (It would only harm you if you had it on two duplicate pages saying that both were the canonical version.) I'd check your site for similar or thin content, which is another thing Panda hit. Yes, you may not have direct duplicates, but if your content on the category and product pages are either thin or very similar to each other, you can still get hit. I'd suggest reading this post, which is basically everything you need to know about Panda.

  • We generally update the Linkscape index once a month. There were two releases in November (one at the very end), and then there will be one this week. It's a little later than usual because of the downtime for the holidays. The Calendar that Jgower shared will always show you the upcoming release date and the previous release dates.

  • If you are using a 3rd party social media company like ShareThis or AddThis, it should be a little inaccurate. I know what you are talking about because I have a few hundred FB Likes on my site, but SEOmoz shows different. I think it gets it's information from facebook's Open Graph.

  • Hi Robert, The SEOmoz crawler is set to ignore title tags on certain non-html files, such as pdfs. That said, there are still some errant file extensions out there that it will attempt to read. These are rare, but it does happen. From an SEO point of view, there's nothing you really need to do with these files. If you wanted, you could place a rel="nofollow" on any link that you didn't want robots to crawl, or block them with robots.txt, just to be sure. But from a search point of view, Google and the other engines are pretty sophisticated with these types of files so this is probably unnecessary. As a side note, Google is getting increasingly good at reading some types of non-html files, like pdfs, so it's often advantages to have these indexed. If you are seeing errors in your campaign caused by these files, feel free to contact the help team (help@seomoz.org) and let them know. Hope this helps! Best of luck.
