Not only hare H1 tags incredibly important, but so are H2, H3, H4, H5, H6...in that order. Make sure you only have 1 H1 tag, but you can have multiple H2-H6 tags.

RE: Do I need to remove pages that don't get any traffic from the index?
I would never, ever remove pages unless they are harmful to your brand.
With that said, i would suggest optimizating the page for keywords that carry higher traffic volume. With that, make sure this page is niche and discusses the content individually.
You will need:
-Keywords that have a decent to high amount of search volume (keyword research). and make sure these keywords can obtain a high ranking.
-At least 1,000 words, designed in an easy to read format, with your target keywords places in the meta title, description, most of the H Headers and paragraph text. At least a 3% density.
-Make sure your images have alt tags with your target keyword and the URL of the page is short, clean, and has your target keyword.
Create internal links on your website (with the correct anchor text in the link), that point to the page. Drive it from popular pages like the home, about, or services page.
-Find other websites that would be interested in linking to this specific page, preferably websites that have a higher domain authority than yours does.
-Lastly, index in Google webmaster tools, crawl with googlebot, index and render the specific page .... and wait. At least 5 weeks and measure traction on Google.
Oh yea..cross your fingers and think happy thoughts too.

SEO Pie Chart Feedback
What are your thoughts about this pie chart we made to communicate the different levels of SEO implementation to clients and prospects.
A big problem we have incurred in the past, was communicating what SEO implementation actually is. Besides stating the obvious, rank higher on keywords...most clients ask why am I spending so much money for something I dont know what your doing...or how you are doing it?
Any feedback on the pie chart? Leave anything out?

RE: Focus Keyword
Yes, each page on your website should have a focus keyword...just like when you are communicating about a topic in real life. Would you bounce around between basketball, baseball and football when you are in the middle of a conversation about the NBA all star game? Probably not.
When building content for specific keywords per page, I enjoy utilizing SEO quake for google chrome. Its keyword diagnosis and density tool, in my opinion, is far superior to Yoast. It helps identify on page standards and well as word count and density of single keywords and phrase keywords. Plus, its free.

RE: How many SEO clients do you handle?
50-60 SEO clients is a healthy amount. But of those 50-60, how many are full SEO campaigns? In the SEO world, there are multiple levels of "SEO"...from Google My Business management to heavy link building. In my opinion, you can effectively handle 50-60 SEO clients, but it depends on the package they are signed up for.
Link Building, Google My Business Optimization, Directory Listing, Citation Listings, Guest Blogging, On Page Optimization, on page content, blogging, internal link errors. If you are implementing a full SEO campaign and not delivering, ultimately, you will only frustrate your client and lose them.
Organizing your time and communicating in a transparent manner are the most important factors when running an SEO business. Besides knowing how to implement SEO of course.

RE: Are we actually getting accurate data on keyword volumes from Moz (or other sources)?
Something that has tricked me up a few times in the past is the difference between broad and exact search volume. Every time you compare MOZ keyword volume to Google, just know there is a slight +/- in volume. Plus, its never an exact science, rather than an estimation based on historical data from Google...and subsequently, MOZ.
If ever in doubt, I would utilize Google's data over any other source of data.

RE: Coding hurting SEO?
Good looking design, but on-page SEO does lack. Try downloading SEO quake to your Google chrome toolbar. Looks like your home page title, description, and headers need some love. Use this tool for every page on your site and make sure the content is unique to each page. It should help. Also, I would replace the phone # and 24/7 unless they are targeted keywords.
I have noticed rankings go up and increase when I clean up code from existing websites. Google sees clean code as quality content and is easier to crawl. Get rid of span and div tags where possible. Rely on your style sheets and change them if need be.

RE: Quick Question: Is it Bad for SEO to paste from Word to your CMS?
If you are using a great CMS, like DNN, you have the ability to paste as plain text. Then, style the html accordingly. If you dont, prepare to create a lot of junk code and span tags.
