Strategies for generating a knowledge panel for brand queries
Cool, thanks for the quick reply! I see a local KP in both instances (with location set outside of Houston), but they look great either way.

Robots file set up
To add to this, I'd also recommend having a look around in /lib/ just to make sure you aren't blocking important javascript and css files (I've been bitten by this!). More guidance here: https://developers.google.com/webmasters/mobile-sites/mobile-seo/common-mistakes/blocked-resources?hl=en

How are these links being displayed?
You'd use alt text on an image link, but not text. Alt text is the text that would display instead of the image if the image isn't shown for whatever reason (e.g. for the visually impaired or for those who prefer to browse text-only). Title text is the text that displays when you hover over something. You can use it in addition to the alt text, but it would be the title that displays when you hover over the image. I'm sure all three (alt, title and anchor text) help Google to learn what a link is all about.

Interdomain linking from partner sites
Not sure I understand what you mean. Maybe I did a poor job of explaining. The sites are different enough where they merit having their own domains but they do share a common theme. I only manage one of these domains but can get the others to link to us. I'm trying to determine how they should link to us.

On-Page Grader supporting HTTPS?
Oh good! I'm glad you were able to find the source! We actually use a set of dynamic IPs, so there's not a range that I'd be able to provide. I'm afraid the best things I could suggest would be to ask them to whitelist our user agents, dotbot and rogerbot.

Fetch as Google
Google will recrawl the page much quicker and is more likely to update it's index based on any changes you made to the page (or index it for the first time). As Ria said, there is no downside.

Why do 301 redirects come up in the crawl error report?
Hi Rachel! Sorry for the confusion here. The 301 redirects aren't reported as errors; they are actually listed just as a "site notice." As Eric said, they aren't considered as bad, but they do affect your SEO efforts so we think they are important to be aware of so that you can confirm that they are directing to the right place and that they exist on the right pages for your specific strategy. That holds true for all of the information that we report in the site notices section of your crawl diagnostics. Hope that clears things up! Let me know if you have any other questions.

When I download the crawl report it downloads with multiple URLs in one box, is there a way to stop this from happening or to easily separate these URLs once downloaded?
Hi Rachel! Without knowing the exact report that you're attempting to download, it's a little tough to say for certain. It's possible that it's an issue on our end, but it could also have to do with the settings or version of the software being used to open the file. Perhaps it'd be worth making sure that your spreadsheet program is fully updated or try a different program like Google Sheets to open the file. If you're still running into issues, then feel free to shoot an email over to help@moz.com with some extra info about where you're trying to download the report from. Thanks!

In a pickle. SEO for Personal Brand, Book or Keywords?
Thanks so much for the response, Kane. She is very particular in the content placed on her website. I didn't work with her on her website or her existing pages, navigation, and content, so I'm coming in fresh and from what I know, she was tough to deal with on the content portions. Adding more pages about her services probably isn't realistic as she doesn't dive into her "services" on the website nor does she want to. She has this false sense that her clients KNOW what she does and will search for her "method". Yet, when you Google her "method", nothing shows. This led me to talk with her about and be very honest with her, that her name, her method and her book need to be the focal point. So, when people do hear about her, and then Google her, they will get the bigger picture vs just searching for a service keyword and her showing up. Another challenge is, her budget is low. It will increase, but have to prove it works. I explained this is a limiting factor, but will see where it goes. We will focus on blog articles, a few press releases, a couple SlideShare presentations about her method and book outline and wish we could do videos, but she will never do a video, but she enjoys and does do speaking engagements. We also discussed getting her to do more podcast type interviews and try to get her in front of bloggers or podcasters as she speaks very well and would be comfortable doing that. This will make for an interesting case study if it all works out the way I want it to. One thing I won't allow is for it to ruin or soil my reputation or our mutual brand consultant's image. Thanks again, Kane! I do appreciate your input. - Patrick

Our PPC UTM URLs Aren't Registering In GA Properly
Hello Kirmeliux! Josh is correct. The redirect is likely causing your issue, especially if you are only seeing the issue on mobile traffic. One fix would be to create two versions of your ad, one targeting the Desktop Right Column & Desktop News Feed with your desktop URL & another targeting the Mobile News Feed with your mobile URL. GA will still combine these data sets into one campaign assuming those UTM parameters match. Also, check to make sure you're using Facebook's new URL tags feature at the bottom of the ad creation page to ensure your tagging is correctly appended. Hope that helps! Trenton

Duplicate Blog Content
We have some content that is shared on multiple sites. We use rel=canonical to attribute the content to the appropriate site and transfer link equity. We are pleased with how it works. The visitors to both domains can view that content without leaving the website. The pages that have the rel=canonical code do not display in the SERPs. The pages that receive the attribution receive a small ranking boost. Using 301 will remove the page from the SERPs and transfer any visitor that clicks a link to it onto the site that you point the 301 to. This is not desirable for most uses. . The main goal though, is to drive traffic to BOTH sites via organic search using the same content. Would love to hear everyone's opinions if this is possible or unrealistic... If this is your goal, then the best thing to do is to write unique articles for each and every website.
