You have a couple of options. You can try asking this question again in public Q&A, as the site has a lot more activity than it did in April. Another option is to use a private Q&A question and ask this where only SEOmoz staff and associates can see it. The advantage there is that the question is private and not indexed, and the staff/associates are under an NDA and won't disclose the contents of the question so you can use real URLs if needed.

There was a method by advertising on Adwords to see the real searches for exact match keywords, Google Adwords is WAY inaccurate.

Tyler, I would not be very worried SEO impact, but it could hurt your brand, etc. Affiliate links typically don't pass link juice, and Google usually doesn't penalize you for bad links, anyway (they usually just discount them).

That's what I figured. What a waste of money. I would hire an internet marketing agency, but since we are an internet marketing agency, it doesn't make much sense for us to hire ourselves to do this.

This may or may not affect link directories, but I know that Google does devalue some links from directories as spam. Someone may step in and correct me if I'm wrong.
