IP block in Google
yup, i know that problem. too many requests to Google from the same IP. The IPs from which you query Google should frequently change, otherwise you'll get blocked.

Keeping main site or sticking with satellite siets
I'd focus on the satellite sites. You can handle many of the duplicate product issues by using a cross-domain rel canonical from the niche site to the old site.

Google cache my backlinks two days ago but i did not see results
You'll have to wait a LOT more. Results such as these coming from a couple backlinks might take weeks if not months to actually process into higher ranks for specific keywords. Hang in there, keep getting great links, and eventually your rank will start increasing!

The Value of Off-Topic Guest Posts
As long as these links are editorial given and are coming from good domains, I think there should be a lot of benefit in them. Of course links from related domains are better (if only for referral traffic), but I personally don't think they'll be devalued or be seen as manipulative.

Best place to have blog reside
I agree with the other responders here. As long as it's on-topic, it's generally best to put your blog in a subfolder and keep everything on the same domain.

Why does SEOmoz use /blog/content-title vs /category/content-title? Any difference?
In my experience with content management solutions, it's easier (and thus more common) to keep all blog posts under the blog directory, then use categories in the URL and/or the Title tag (if necessary at all). That said, most of the time I find categories to be more useful for users, and less helpful for engines. So, to me the pros of using /category/content-title would only apply if the categories are very straightforward and short (which depends on your industry). For example, if you run a outdoor hobbies blog, and you have clear, distinct categories like backpacking, camping, hiking, fishing, and so on, then using the category URL structure would be great. However, if your blog is more specific (say backpacking only), your categories will start to become more convoluted and long, taking up a large part of the URL. In addition, this can cause unnecessary redundancy in your URLs, which can appear like keyword stuffing. Overall, I prefer to stick with /blog/content-title, and possibly include the category in the title tag if it's really important.

I need to get my hands on some already registered domains?!?
Without accurate WHOIS info you face a big problem. I have had success tracking those people down (but i had to WORK for it). These ideas are geared towards inaccurate and not private registration (save the first one which applies to both): 1. You can place a backorder and wait until the domain expires to snatch it up. Google how to do this effectively because you aren't the only one who is after that domain. 2. Search for the whois email in the search engines to see if you can find any sites that have that email on them. Go through each site and do some investigating and you might get lucky by finding their profile somewhere. Use any alternate forms of contact you find. Repeat this step with each form of contact that you find. 3. Use location information from the whois and whatever names they have there and look up old phone records. i.e. If they gave you st. paul, alberta canada and only part of their name you would find the phonebook (call the local phone companies in the area...they sometimes have old ones that they are happy to mail) that was published just after the domain was registered and go down the list calling each potential match. This works if they typed their phone number wrong. 4. Go to the domain you are after and have a look at the website. If it is a standard template looking thing then you can run some of the words on the page through copyscape.com and see any other domains he has registered. Also try googling those phrases as well. This one is hit or miss. 5. Submit a whois complaint: http://wdprs.internic.net/ Hope this helps! Jason Jackson

Switching to masked affiliate links
Hi Steve, thanks for your advice! Yes, one reason for masking is URL vanity. The other one is to increase CTR.
