  • Hey Daniel, "yes" and "yes" to the best of my knowledge. They're checking your keyword against the same criteria each time. So, to get a copy of each recommendation that would appear if the criteria wasn't met..... just create a 'test' page and don't put any content on it. And don't run a keyword for it either. Also, I'd recommend checking out this post about how to optimize a page 'perfectly'. Does this help Daniel?

  • How about having your developers script something, that scrapes all 18.000 h1, h2, h3 for each article and store them in a database. Finding dupes then would be a piece of cake, even for a less experienced developer You could easily export all your duplicates to csv and then manually rename them based on their content. Dev time: about 1 day max. (Developed a lot of software myself and IMHO a good developer should get this up and running within 4 hours) If you don't have toooooo many duplicate tags, correcting those in question shouldn't be taking too long aswell. If you have done your chores you could reimport your corrected title-tags to the database. Your developer could write a script in the meantime, that sets the title-tag of a page according to the title-tag you stated in your database. Hope that helped If you have further questions on this, just go ahead. Had a similar problem with 25k+ pages for a major health insurance and we figured out, that the best way to prevent problems was to do most of the work manually than with a script. Helped us a lot to stay within the budget and given timeframe.

  • FYI- Use the keyword difficulty tool in seomoz instead of the google adwords tool (talks about paid competition not seo) to determine if a keyword is hard or not for seo.

  • I understand Muhammed.  Seeing a 301 even though you've changed things can be quite a concern.  The most important thing is that your site is listed in Google, and clicking the link from there does go to the right page, and I've confirmed that it's properly set. Quite often SEO requires patience.  Something I personally have difficulty with

  • My content is pretty uncontroversial, so hopefully allowing comments will just allow a bit of useful discussion to happen on each page (fingers crossed...) Being spammed to death was/is one of my main concerns. I will of course use spam filters but, as EGOL suggests, this will still require moderation and therefore my time (which is already in short supply...) I think I will give it a try and see how things go. Thanks for your input guys

  • I find that a lot of the data in  webmaster tools is not that helpful.  It takes some time to sort through and figure out what can help you and what can't.  Some of my suggested keywords are things that no one would search for.  If I optimized my site for these keywords it would just look silly. Similarly, don't forget that the Adwords Keyword tool is not accurate at all when it comes to search volume.  For my main keyword, it tells me that I should have 12,000 searches per month.  I am number one for this keyword and yet I get 5000 impressions per month. If you are focusing on targeting local searches, do you have a local listing?  This is REALLY important.  It's not hard to optimize your local listing so that you appear at or the near top for several terms.

  • Definitely! You get the obvious HUGE SEO benefit mentioned previously - AND you are also improving the visitor experience - as they get all of the additional benefits that text gives you i.e the transcription can be read on low bandwidth connections, devices with no video support, downloaded to be read later, printed for reference, translated into other languages. Be sure to give consideration to accessibility to disabled users too! A text transcription allows hearing impaired users to access your content - be mindful of the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act - Comliance with the dda is a legal requirement in the UK, From http://www.disability.gov.uk/dda/smefinal.html What happens if I fail to make reasonable adjustments? You might be breaking the law. A disabled person can make a claim against a provider whose services are impossible or unreasonably difficult for him or her to access.)Additionally you can add links to other relevant pages within your site using the anchor text generated... If your video content is longer than 15 minutes because it is genuinely good content then it is worth transcribing all of it. Don't forget you can omit any parts of the transcription that may not be that engaging.

  • If your looking for numbers to prove that a text reference to a company on a website causes a site to move up in the SERP, then no I do not believe you will find it. On the other hand, if you are wondering if a citation on a site causes people to type in a company name in a search box which in turn causes a spike in search traffic, which evidently will cause a movement in the SERP, then yes it does. This is what trending is based on. Are there numbers to support this? Yes, but those numbers are based on what it is, where the citations are, whether there is a buzz about it, etc, etc,. Every situation will be different and unique. SEO is about creating more traffic, so in essence if someone reads a post about company XYZ and searches for it by name, there is an increase in traffic. This is probably not the statistical data you are looking for, and I'd love for someone else to chime in if they have supporting evidence to back up the contrary.

  • Hey guys, thanks for your comments.  I figured it out finally.  It was a setting in my actual theme that was adding the blog title to my post.  I just changed that to not add the blog title and fixed it. Thanks again for your help and suggestions.
