Best Redirect for old .htm extention to root ?
Wordpress and other software either comes designed for SEO, or has plug-ins which offer SEO abilities. They work by automating some tasks for you. For example, they can automatically canonicalize pages or use friendly URLs. Any SEO options you set up must be thoroughly inspected. While they do make things easier, I would never treat it as a "set it and forget it". Many people get away with that approach, but others do not.

How long for SEOMoz to reflect new inbound links?
It can actually take up to sixty days (two crawls) for the links to show up, if you happened to have built links right as one of the crawls was finishing. Unlike Google, Linkscape (in the past) crawls about once a month -- spends a couple of weeks crawling then a couple of weeks processing. Your links should have shown up by now for sure, let us know if they haven't for some reason.

Links from my homepage
This is a huge question and the answer depends upon the type of site that you have. Retail sites might focus on popular products, new products, special sale products, most profitable products. You basically want to show visitors the things that they might find most interesting but at the same time link to things that you want visitors to discover. For best advice tell us more about your site.

Questions about Adwords Display network.
I would like to add to this discussion that although you may not see Quality Score on the Display side, it doesn't mean that it is not a factor for Display. However Quality Score on the Display Network is different than QS for Search.

Strong pages and subpages: Building exact anchor again and again, or mix up?
Perhaps my question is to difficult without showing the Url. I don't want to post it here, but I think it will be helpful to refine my question that you can answer it on a general level. Can you give me some best practice tips how to optimize strong subpages which are still ranking on top 3-4 if you consider, that these pages already have 50-60 incoming links from different sources and exact anchors / anchor variations which is much more than the pages from competitors. Is it too much at some time for one single subpage? Or should I keep going with optimization for this keyphrase until I'm on top 1-2 or in the filter? What is best practise to avoid those filters?

Google Places - Overcoming a geographical disadvantage
One of the often overlooked factors in local ranking in customer reviews. Implementing a simple email marketing program to request positive customer feedback can boost rankings and expand the geographic area your citation is "relevant" for. Couldn't hurt to buy adwords for your target keywords and include your places listing as an ad extension.

All page files in root? Or to use directories?
To my knowledge there hasn't been a definitive conclusion on this one. The general advice as I know it seems to be: they are equally good, pick one, and make sure the other one (with slash if you choose to go for 'without slash' or vice versa) redirects to the chosen one (to avoid duplicate content).

My nofollow link is showing as a 302\. Is this OK?
(1) an internal link between two pages on your website, (2) an external link from your website to another website So in these two situations if a nofollow was needed would you use a 302 redirect?
