Google Analytics reports large amounts of out of state traffic
The majority of the out of state mobile traffic has the Network Domain listed as (not set), but most of the data is shown as coming from large cities within the out of state locations. Google said: We also take different factors into account in AdWords (e.g. mobiles can use various signals, such as GPS, etc.), while Analytics strictly uses IP, which can be very different from actual location. Even so, I'm with you; 48% is bananas and there is no way it can be that far off...at least, I hope not. We did check order and phone call reporting data and we only have a few customers coming in from outside of our market; nowhere near the volume Google Analytics suggests we should be seeing.

Keyword Ranking Report shows 3 duplicates for each keyword
Sorry for any confusion! When you download your historical rankings CSV, the spreadsheet reflects the rankings that were collected during the timeframe set by the Rankings tab in your campaign. You can adjust that timeframe in the upper right corner of the Rankings tab. If you have multiple weeks selected, we will provide your rankings for each individual week, which is why you may see duplicates. You can filter your rankings CSV by the date columns if you want to isolate one specific weekly set!

Service Location links in footer and on the service page - spamming or good practice?
Thanks for the response Roman. So the on-page internal links are a must and the footer links probably should be avoided. This was my initial thought but i was swayed by our increase in rankings for some pages as well as a similar business who have done this method and rank highly in most support areas. Gaining back links is next in our to do list! Cheers

Looking to increase the quality of our backlinks with a press release: Business wire or Prweb?
I don't think Press Strategy is effective strategy these days. There are many website which accepts Press release from everyone and give them no-follow link in author section but I don't think that link will be effective or boost your rankings.

How much do branded search organic traffic & direct traffic impact the ranking for their non-branded topic/keyword?
Traffic is an important indicator along with onsite behavior once they are there. The more people visiting your site the better it should be for your search engine rankings as long as they are engaging with the site. Try to generally keep your bounce rate as low as possible and try to make the site as sticky as possible. Best Regards

How to properly setup a website for the first time
So you believe we should identify city and state in the URL. (Possibly city and country for internation) correct? Also, does it matter to SEO if the Title and the URL match? Or should they be different i.e. URL - Widget.Rentals/Orlando-Florida-beautiful-widgets-for-rent-at-a-great-price TITLE - Orlando Florida beautiful widgets for rent at a great price versus **URL - Widget.Rentals/Orlando-Florida-beautiful-widgets-for-rent-at-a-great-price TITLE - Find the best widgets for rent in the Orlando area** The reason I ask is because it is a lot easier to code in the first scenario than the 2nd. But, if #2 is the game winner - we will make it happen.

Hubspot as single CMS / CRM / Email Marketing tool
Thanks Erik for asking this question. I actually just came on to the forum to post the same question. Working on a new website in the credit card industry - I have read the HubSpot blogs for years; Loving it. Even used their CRM and I liked it too. I have always used the free and lovely WordPress. If I understand well the HubSpot CMS pricing is starting in the $12K range, so I really want to know about their CMS. What do we gain from it more than free CMS that should make it worth that hefty pricing? Thier sales team was not too helpful over chat to help me understand that, and I remain confused.... @Erik, What CMS have you used before? We are both looking for insight into the Hubspot CRM. Anyone?

Our website ranks first in SERP but is not listed in google local list
Hi GVZH! Great question. There are so many different phenomena that can contribute to the scenario you're seeing. In order for the community to help you dig into this, we'll need to know: The identity of your website The exact keyword phrase you're trying to rank locally for. If you can share these things, you should receive some great, targeted advice here. Otherwise, unfortunately, we'd just be making random guesses.

Where should I centre my content Hubs?
Hi Catherine The problem with setting up tags and categories within your blog is that the content will likely conflict with the main categories on your website. Sure, so that from a user point of view but I would advise you noindex/follow them so that you don't have them appear in Google but link juice is allowed to flow through the pages. When you post it is perfectly OK and good for SEO, to link to internal pages using anchor text. Just be aware that if there is already a link to those pages in the main menu then your efforts will be thwarted as Google only reads the first anchor to a page it comes to. If that is in the menu then your link on the page will be largely ignored. Backlinks from blog pages and of course other forms of internal linkage strengthens the whole site in term of allowing link juice to flow through all connected pages. Don't think of it as arbitrary linking or negative for SEO. Do think of linking to pages that are two or more clicks down, so that they will not have a main link in the menu. I repeat - if you do set up categories and tags in the blog then noindex/follow them as they will produce low grade/skinny pages. Regards Nigel Carousel Projects.

My 12 year old site suddenly has all of its landing pages deindexed?
Hello I was able to find your site and took a look at it. Indeed some pages are not indexed. It seems like it's because they are very similar in content. Your Location pages don't offer much unique value besides just changing the city name and some of the content a little bit. I'm sure Google is looking at it as low quality content, that duplicates the same purpose. If you want to index and rank separate city pages they need to be super unique and specifically add value for the user in each location. The content feels spun (created programmatically) even though it might be manually created, there is still a lot of just copy/pasting etc. Think about what it would take to have a 100% unique page, with unique content for each location (testimonials, photos, information, maps, service info etc). If they are not the city pages that you're referring to, please link to an example so I (and others) can take a closer look! Hope this helps!

Very old site wanting a revamp - how to handle all the redirects/URL changes
Hi Greenroads This is a fairly simple thing to do. 1. Go to site:yousiteurl and see how many pages you have in Google - if there are only 100 or so they will all be listed. Put them in to a spreadsheet. 2. Use a backlink checker to identify any other pages that sites may be linking to you from. I use SEMrush but there are plenty of free backlink checkers where you can register and get free info (I just Googled https://monitorbacklinks.com/seo-tools/free-backlink-checker) Note all the backlink destinations. 3. Set up the new site and 301 all the old pages to relevant pages on the new website. There are various plugins that can help or you can edit the htaccess file yourself which is better for site speed. (Generally plugins slow the site) There are plenty of guides on this but essentially you will just enter lines like this: Redirect 301 /old page.com/old https://newpage.com/new The full process is here: https://wpbuffs.com/301-redirects-wordpress-htaccess/ Regards Nigel
