Link Detox or I can use Open Site Explorer for tracking down bad links?
Recognize that there are three major types of "bad" backlinks that you need to look for: sitewides over-optimized anchor text links from really stinky places Link Detox is great--I use it all the time to diagnose penalty issues. BUT it only really helps with links from spammy domains--it won't help you spot over-optimized anchor text. I use OSE's anchor text tab to do that. To spot sitewides, you'll probably want to download the entire backlink profile from OSE into a spreadsheet, then sort by domain, and look for massive blocks of links from the same domain.

Why hasn't my site info shown up yet?
I ended up turning off the campaign and restarting it. Worked like a charm.

Will the Google juice flow after a redirect?
Hi Sylvain OK, if it is a 302 then no authority will be passed. A 302 redirect is an indicator that the redirection is temporary and therefore will change. Until the redirection is changed to a 301 (permanent) then no authority will be passed over from the backlink. There is more info on redirection here: http://moz.com/learn/seo/redirection Do you have access to the abonnes.hospimedia.fr sub-domain so you can update the redirection to be a 301? Peter

Bad performance for low competition term (Take two)
Hi There I believe I recall chiming in on the original question. I would definitely still bring up that I'm not sure this page really targets "reviews" as I don't really see reviews very explicitly anywhere on the page? Definitely need to have a good keyword -> content match to rank. Echoing Peter's good remarks, I have heard John Muller from Google in his hangouts state many times that they do not want to rank pages that pull content from other sources without offering much unique on top of that. This is part of the Panda algo and to get back ahead, the content needs to be unique and add value on top of other places you can find the same or very similar content on the web. -Dan

Page Rank vs Page and Domain Authority - who wins?
Page rank seems to be fading out am I safe to stay with PA and DA metrics instead? You should be for now but look across multiple metrics as leaning on one too much can give you false ideas. Worse case you can always use your Serp pos. but PA & DA are always a safe bet. I don't agree with link building tactics and feel that it should more a networking activity to provide USEFUL links to users... am I being too white hat and missing opporunities? Sounds great to me and good for a long term SEO tactic you may miss out short term but in long term which is always nicer your safe. If it benefits the user I recommend it! The other company have promised long list of links including 100 SEO friendly web directory listings, - can any one say Penguin 2.1? 200 PR 8 back links from Pinterest (which i thought was no follow) Pintrest links are follow & 10 long lasting and high quality mini web sites (with three pages/posts, video and pictures). Am I right that this all sounds a little spammy or is this really what I should be doing for me clients? It is a little spammy but unfortunately it can work but it would work short term and only be a quick fix. I wouldn't recommend this as a service Your tactics sound fine to me keep it white hat and keep on the ball whilst spamming micro sites and directories seem great Google is always trying to stamp this kind of manipulation out and rather then fight Google why not go with it? create some content users want to naturally share and talk about etc. It's a longer benefit for everyone to have great content on your site that makes people want to go to your site rather than cheat them onto your site where at the end of the day may just result in a bounce. Of course your welcome to look into it more and that's all opinion but content is king for most SEO practices Thanks & good luck.

Weird back link showed in moz crawl
Thank you so much Peter for helping me to sort out this. You can't imagine how much I appreciate your time and all you have done for me. I am so absolutely frustrated. You wrote: I think (and perhaps someone from Moz will confirm this) that because you have been receiving links to your site to villasdiani.com/?db I was not creating links to this page, only that guy who made the link probably placed all that links to it, like the ones you have displayed. http://dianibeach.com/airservices/index.html http://dianibeach.com/apartments/index.htm http://dianibeach.com/bedbreakfast/index.htm http://dianibeach.com/books http://dianibeach.com/carhire http://dianibeach.com/golf the guy who did the link for us is actually somebody I know, but he is also my competition and frankly speaking, it is realy very easy to fool me, as I am beginner so I was always worry if this way can't harm me. The anchor text Raul was because that was the name of the guy who was that time doing our site. When I realized that instead of one proper link to our site(that was what I asked for) he instead created these weird links from each of his footer, with anchor text Raul I requested him to remove it and he did it right in front of me. But it was already a while ago. It was on the beginning of September. It is realy frustrating:-(

When with Google+ bio area backlinks get devalued if we have everybody link to our site
Google is pretty clever, it also going to no doubt pick up if they are friends and family compared to employes etc. I would be careful with it and weigh the risk to reward, I can't say they would devalue them as its hardly on a huge scale However would it be relevant as that's what Google always like to know. You can always work on making you profile (presuming you have a link) more authoritative by getting more people in your "circles". Good luck.

Wistia question - how long before it should show up i search results
Essentially - no..... (unless you want to pay someone to do it for you) but if you managed to set everything up according to Wistia's SEO guidelines, you should be fine. I'd normally estimate it'll take 1-2 months for the snippet to show for a medium sized site with reasonable domain authority. For smaller sites, it can take longer and it can appear within a matter of weeks or days for stronger sites.

Trouble adding new campaign to Moz Analytics
Hi Lewis! What may be the issue is that the campaign your trying to create has the same name as one you've archived so what Greg posted will more than likely fix the issue for you. There is a bug preventing archived campaigns from being seen in Analytics, but if you log in and then navigate to Pro, you'll be able to see and reactivate/delete all of your archived campaigns. Hope this helps! Best, Sam Moz Helpster

Robots.txt, does it need preceding directory structure?
Yes this is what I thought, but wanted some second opinions. Although I wouldn't actually need a wild card after BTS, as just leaving it open is the same as using a wildcard: /fish*.......... Equivalent to "/fish" -- the trailing wildcard is ignored. https://developers.google.com/webmasters/control-crawl-index/docs/robots_txt Thanks for the link, I'll take a look

Backlinks from archived content? SEO penalty?
Why would it will be a problem? I mean if webmasters convince they will defiantly going to link to the source you are trying to promote and I think this will not really a problem for Google as well as you are providing better information. This is similar to Content Refresher and Google is cool with this tactic! Hope this helps!

Can I add more than 100 keywords while under Free Trial?
Hi Sherman The trial accounts are the same as paid so you can track up to 350 keywords. There are a few users who are not able to view all of their keywords in the list which is a known bug our engineers are working on resolving, so I am very sorry you are affected by it. From your dashboard you can view how many keywords you have added. Currently I see 150/350. Unfortunately there isn't a way to see your entire list of keywords and once a fix has been deployed I will definitely let you know. I will send you an email right now where I can keep you updated on any new progress. Talk to you soon!
