  • Hi Chlaryn, Is it possible to change a current campaign from sub domain to root domain? Or will I have to create a new campaign from scratch? Thanks!

  • Yes, it really is a good video! I had the honor of Everett respond to one of my own QAs. By the way, what a nice website you have there! I'm actually in the watch niche as well.

  • Thank you both! It was Moz that was throwing up the error reports, and it took about three minutes to switch to Disqus, import the comments, and disable the worpress login. If nothing else, it cleans up the Moz CSV report so we can spend time on the real 404 issues. You seriously saved me hours of pain sorting answers on the wordpress forums - thanks! Angela

  • If you go too cheap, you're going to get content that could do you more harm than good. I've had people in Q&A ask why a site wasn't ranking, and I went to look, and there was content like "think before you beverage" instead of "think before you drink".

  • Hi Ken, Did this take care of things for you? If you've created the account in Pro, you'll be able to switch back to it. If you created it in Moz Analytics, you won't be able to switch back to Pro, but we'll be having custom reports available in Moz Analytics soon. Drop me an email at keri@moz.com if you'd like to be an early tester for the new custom reports and I'll see if I can help you out there.

  • Neenor- Google does quite a bit of work to keep pages that show "explicit" content from appearing, unless the end user is searching for adult content.  Lingerie images walk a fine line between safe content and one that won't show up during a normal search.  Based on what you've written, sounds like their site is more on the risque side of things... The best way to see if your clients' site is affected is to turn Safe Search ON, and then see if their site will appear in search results. Safe Search, according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SafeSearch), is a feature that acts as an automated filter of pornography and potentially offensive content. In a statement given to The Verge, a Google spokesperson said: "We are not censoring any adult content, and want to show users exactly what they are looking for -- but we aim not to show sexually-explicit results unless a user is specifically searching for them. We use algorithms to select the most relevant results for a given query. If you're looking for adult content, you can find it without having to change the default setting -- you just may need to be more explicit in your query if your search terms are potentially ambiguous. The image search settings now work the same way as in web search."

  • As Cyrus mentioned, OSE does not account for every single link in the world. Your website at the moment is very small in comparison to other sites, and Roger simply cannot find your tiny links amongst the rest of the web! Needle in a haystack. HOWEVER. Open Site Explorer isn't the only way of finding this information. Analytics & WMT are both relatively good for finding links, both internal & external. If you can physically see and count the links on the site, then you just need to wait for Google to index them - you can check this in WMT.

  • In addition to Neenor and Craigs great tips you also have internal & external duplicate content  and canonical issues. Click for Google result The link above highlights an example of internal duplicate content caused by your paginated pages. Ideally you should be using the robots 'noindex, follow' meta tag so the pages are removed  from Google's index, but the product links on the pages are still followed. Click for Google result The link above highlights an example of external duplciate content where you have used content from Lost & Founds website verbatim. You should make sure all you content is unique. Also looking at the first link above you will see that some of your URLs are being indexed via secure https URLs while others are just via regular http. It appears that the site isn't utlising canonical tags, so you could potentially be having duplicate page issues where pages are indexed twice, once under https and once more under http. I'd suggest you do an in-depth onsite audit, as If I noticed these couple of issues in 2 mins, you could potentially have issues elsewhere.

  • Hey, sorry for not getting back to you quickly! I currently use {keyword} instead of {querystring} in my bing parameters because I'm sending the information to Google, and I know that Keyword works already from using it in AdWords. Try this and let me know if you see anything change!

  • Hey! What's happening here is your website is loading a single offices.htm page and showing different data within that page depending upon the ID of the office selected. It's basically using the page as a template and filling in the blanks dependant upon the query. The reason for it being there is simply because that is how your developer/agency has built your website. I would not recommend using this method in this instance as each office would be best suited to a unique page of their own as you've already mentioned. For a better understanding of why it has been built in this manner I'd recommend talking to your developer. Hope you found this useful.

  • Just because it works doesn't mean it should be used though. If you are saying "This content is more important on that site", then you could quickly end up with very imbalanced sites. If lots of content on a site has canonical tags to another site then surely it negates the purpose of having multiple sites to start with.... .... but the reasoning behind splitting up a site like that is another discussion entirely!

  • I am struggling with the rel="canonical".  If each product had its own product PDF then it would be easy to use the  rel="canonical". However, some of the PDF manuals cover somewhere between 200-300 products. The only difference between some of the products is the physical size (like televisions i.e. 32" vs 37") so the same manual covers all the products within that range.  I am guessing using the same PDF manual for so many products is a duplicate content issue, but sadly they are really useful for users.  Maybe I could put all the pdfs on the product category pages. That said the MOZ tools are showing that we only have 200 duplicate pages out of 250,000, which I think is good. I agree with Mike, a summary of the PDF, FAQs and how to guides would be an advantage. I've already started adding this information for some of the more popular products but we don't have enough people to write content for every product.  A smaller site would be a lot easier. Anyone got any ideas? @Dave - thanks mate

  • Hi Katherine, Are you trying to add keywords in the Rank Tracker tool or within your campaigns? I ask because the answer is different between the two sections and the original Q&A post was titled with "Rank Tracker" but was actually about the campaigns. For the Rank Tracker tool, we currently don't offer bulk uploads I'm afraid. In your campaigns, you can use the left side navigation to go to Search>Keyword Rankings>Add & Manage Keywords and then add your bulk list of keywords from the Add Keywords tab there. Here is a screenshot with that navigation highlighted. Here is a link to the Ass & Manage Keywords section of our Help Hub for your reference, as well. I hope this helps! Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.

  • No, I just searched the questions, and they all seemed to address different types of links than mine. But, thank you! I will read that now.
