Redirecting to new domain
This. Get a crawl of your site using a sitemap, Screaming Frog or something similar - then direct those old URLs to the most relevant new ones. This is simple enough with a SF export and then a bit of Excel manipulation.

Competitor owns two domains which are essentially duplicates. Is this allowed?
Thank you for your responses. I will look into maybe calling attention to this via the webspam report.

Should we handle this redirect differently?
Without seeing the actual 301s and tracing it all on the server, my guess is that that what might have happened during the 301 process is that all of the server rules in .htaccess is forcing a user to go through multiple "hops" before the redirect is complete. This is a simplified version, but what might be happening is something like this: /store/widget-group1/ --> /store/widget-group1/index.php --> /store/widget-group1/index.html --> /store/index.php?widget-group1 If this is the case, I'd try to create a 301 that reduces the number of hops. This page discusses how Matt Cutts of Google shoes that after a few 301 hops, Google may give up crawling: http://www.mktdojo.com/matt-cutts-discusses-301-redirect-limits/ Hope this helps...

Hreflang Tag great for Google, what about Bing or others?
I'm pretty sure meta language is the only thing Bing recognizes for language at this point. http://returnonnow.com/2012/06/international-seo-hreflang-tag/ For any other search engines, you need to employ the Meta Language Tag. There are two ways to set up the syntax on this tag: Or the alternative syntax would be: If the site is only targeting a language, the latter would suffice. However, if you are targeting to language and country (e.g. Spanish for Spain vs. Mexico), use the first option.

Rel=Canonical=CONFUSED
Mike's response pretty much covers it, I would just add that there shouldn't be any negative effects with having 1099pro.com canon to itself, so don't worry about that.

Why is this site beating mine? I can't work it out!
Thats why its good practice to compete on price but not go nuts as if you do its just a race to see who is out of business first, I agree. Lots of these people can not do math. They don't know what their profit margin is.

Is there an option that's more precise over Open Site Explorer?
Hey Jonathan, Thanks for the question. You'll want to keep in mind that OSE doesn't know what your official Facebook or Google+ pages are. So when OSE reports those numbers it's URL specific. For example: Moz has 135,040 likes on our Facebook page, but in OSE it only sees 2,162 because that's how many people liked the url moz.com as opposed to our FB page. I hope that makes sense. You can try adding your social networks to a campaign to get more in depth social metrics. Cheers, Joel.

Is there an efficient way to use Open Site Explorer to find unnatural or harmful links
I'm honestly not sure if there's a great way to use that process to drill back into the links to see which ones are low quality - it was intended more as a big picture look at your entire profile. We're actively working on more spam detection metrics, but it's a tricky business and we're really concerned about potentially giving people false alarms, especially with so many people hacking at their links. I know some folks use OSE to export links and pull out specific bits of data, like very low PA pages, pages with exact-match anchor text on keyword-heavy phrases (non-brand), etc., but even then you've got to be a bit careful. A low PA page isn't necessarily "bad", just relatively weak, from a link perspective. One spam marker we've found pretty relevant is sites with a disproportionately low MozTrust to their MozRank (or to their DA). Sites with high authority but low trust may have spammy link profiles in general. These are the kinds of factors that 3rd-party link evaluation tools look at. Some of them are a good starting point, but you still need to fact-check. I'd definitely start with some kind of domain-based analysis. Your 40K links might be coming from 4K domains, or even 400. Getting a broad sense of linking-domain quality will be an easier starting point.

Moz Pro vs. Moz Analytics
This is a great question and a topic we are really interested in hearing more about at Moz. We understand that changing workflows can be painful and challenging, and are dedicated to making Moz Analytics a worthy successor to Pro. If you have any specific items that you find frustrating, missing, or hard to find, we'd love it of you respond in the thread, or even email me directly (adam -at- moz.com). Also let us know if there are things we could do to help, whether it be resources, education, or product changes. Thanks!

Authority site drastic ranking drop after google https switch. Please Help!
Hey Luca Weird, a similar issue just happened to a friend's site here locally. To clarify, http pages are still indexed if you search - site:https://www.register.it/ -inurl:https -- but it's just that both http AND https are indexed now. Also - I don't see we.register.it loading at all - only www.register.it --- was this recently changed? Although I am seeing both we and www indexed in Google. Did we always redirect to www? Since the HTTPS is redirecting now to HTTP Google will not be able to see the canonical. Here's what I think you should try; Undo the 301 redirect from https to http In your HTTPS robots.txt file, block crawling Register HTTPS in webmaster tools (if not already) and do a URL removal on all the pages you don't want indexed from HTTPS (probably all of them) I would strongly recommend sorting out your internal linking using absolute URL paths and ONLY link to pages with HTTPS when they actually are really HTTPS pages. Otherwise links to HTTP. Sort out your we vs. www subdomain issue. This is honestly a slightly involved situation, where we can give cursory advice here, but just want to be transparent that if you're not completely comfortable in what to do, you might want to find someone who can peek behind the curtain (unfortunately as Moz Associates we're not able to log into your accounts or anything). EDIT: just want to add that you should be sure you have updated and working XML sitemaps for the http and subdomain you want indexed, and they are submitted to WMT

Google Analytics Page Value - Help please
Casey, here is the exact quote from Google Analytics' blog on the Page Value topic: Now there are a couple of things to be aware of. The calculation does not include all transaction and goal revenue for the entire visit. It’s only the goal conversions and transactions that happen after the page is viewed, not before the page is viewed. Source: http://analytics.blogspot.ro/2012/07/understanding-and-using-page-value.html So in your case the number of Unique Page Views you have, 2345 - also includes Page Views that happened after the goal was completed, and these are not taken into consideration when calculating the Page Value. Let me give you an example: someone lands on your website on an internal page, completes the Goal without going to your homepage and after the goal is completed he is redirected to the homepage. The visit to the homepage is taken into consideration for the "Unique Page Views" metrics, but is not taken into consideration in the unique page views used when calculating the Page Value.
