Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Not sure I understand the question? filezilla does not hold the permissions, the user in question does. Permissions for a linux bases system can be activated with ACL, and would be saved at the OS level (so if you took an image, it would take the file permissions. I am not sure of a tool, that would do this other than just basic linux tools, and in windows it is saved locally with the user, unless group policy is in control which Active Directory and Registry of host machine would hold the user permissions. Maybe I misunderstoofd the question though.. Shane

  • Hey Brent, Thanks for the response.  I have a follow up question.  So are you saying that if seomoz is showing a ranking of 9th for a keyword term but when I, or my client, search that same keyword term it comes up 37th (with personalized results turned off) that it should show up as 9th in time?  For example, I have another client whose ranking for a search terms has been on the 4th page for 3 months, but seomoz has shown it bouncing between page 1 & 2 for that same time period.  If seomoz is right, I am going to be a hero, but if wrong, it looks like everything I have done for SEO for them has done nothing. I noticed you said you can predict changes "within a few days" which would suggest that my 3 month scenario is likely to be caused by something else like user error.  Usually I see user error working the other the way though.  The client or I have clicked through to a website multiple times so it comes up higher in search results than it really is due to personalization.  But, in this case, the results are coming up substantially lower than seomoz is showing. Thanks again!

  • I can totally agree with that statement. Perhaps I misspoke. Im not asking for them to set my guidelines but rather just noting that they are pretty certain about drawing that line at 100 with their error reporting as opposed to keeping that line fuzzy like it really is.

  • Hi Loughnan Its a bit difficult to diagnose without seeing the pages in question, so could post the full URL and also an example of 2 pages that the SEOmoz web app is seeing as duplicate. If you rather not put the link up on here, feel free to Private Message me. Justin

  • We do sometimes have a redirect loop error, and it's usually solved by using a different browser or clearing your cache and cookies. If that doesn't do the trick, send an email to help@seomoz.org with the details of your OS and browser and we'll see what we can figure out. Thanks!

  • Most SEOs don't count raw links, exactly because the numbers vary wildly no matter what index you use, and also because most of the Internet is made up of "junk" links that disappear off the link graph every few months. It's estimated that 60% of the web disappears every year. The reason for this is that much of the web is auto-generated by bots, auto-blogs, low quality aggregators and just plain spam. You often don't see many of these links because the search engines tend to filter them out indexes like Mozscape tend to ignore them as they don't influence rankings. That said, low quality and transient links do make their way into the various indexes, including Google's. They don't count much for rankings or traffic, and they are as likely to disappear as they are to appear. Even if the numbers were to stabilize, raw link counts tell you nothing about the value of the links. One good link can outweigh 10,000 no value links. And 100 bad links can actually hurt you. For this reason, it's usually better to use metrics link DomainAuthority and MozTrust to gauge link building success, as well as gains in traffic and rankings. Hope this helps! Best of luck with your SEO.

  • I think you have a good list already. A couple that can help as well would be Screaming Frog, it is a webcrawler, you could see page title issues, etc. from this.  Just judging from your list it looks like you have more than enough tools that you are using. The bigger is setting up a process and using it. Here are a couple blog posts about Website audits that might help you out. This post goes into detail of the steps, tools, etc that you would want to do a proper website audit. http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-to-do-a-site-audit This post is good if you are trying to just do a really short quick audit of a website. http://www.distilled.net/blog/seo/how-to-do-a-5-step-site-audit/ Best of luck with getting a process in place.Gettings solids  Processes in place for all work that you do will help you with doing any client work.

  • Hi Stephanie, Sounds like a situation where you really need to go straight to the Help Team and get them to take a look at the specific domain to diagnose the issue. I would start at the Help Hub and click the big pink button. Hope that helps, Sha

  • Hey Rebekah, You guys are awesome here, thanks for taking all the time over this. The home page content is goping up later today I have been aware for a couple of weeks that the entire site was lackingin that dept. The H1 tags I was also aware but as you said that could take a back seat for a while as we addressed the more critical issues first. Titles do need a little work I agree, most importantlytho was that you reinforced my fears that the content on the Web Marketing page was a little difficlut to find becuase if you click on one of the boxes (photos) you will find that each one takes you into considerable relevant content. It was my intent to change this also I still have to work on the design element once you arrive at the content adding a few graphics and possibly a sidebar and "well said" breadcrumbs" as I eat my toast!!...lol The Technical stuff our designer will address today. Again thanks very much, it would be great to hear your comments again in a week or so once we have resolved all of these issues. If your ever in Scotland I will buy you a drink..!!! C
