Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Ive used both Bruce Clay and SeoMoz toolsets. The one thing I really liked about Bruce Clays tools is that I can punch in a url and get a full analysis report within minutes. Seomoz takes a week. That's a major drawback in my opinion.Seomoz has a great q and a forum so thats a major plus.

  • I normally do a manual search for my keywords as most of them as inside top 50 Also, Google rankings are different for different Google settings like it will be different for Australia while different for different states in Australia.

  • I don't think you can but what you could do is downlod a csv report of the keyword rankings which will have the labels next to the keywords. You can then copy and paste the keywords in groups of labels into your new campaign. Obviously you will need to create your labels again in the new campaign. I hope this speeds things up a little for you

  • No links can be tracked 100%. You can use a variety of tools like ahrefs, WMT, majesticSEO, and OSE. You have to check all of these to get a general idea of the links.

  • Thank you, Chiaryn. What I think is relevant when it comes to links on a page is 1. Total links? If the number is high, I would look into if all those links really are necessary. Can we cut down on links that does not point to landing pages in order to give landing pages as much link juice as possible and at the same time increase the chances that those pages get crawled? We have these kind of problems on our e-commerce homepage at the moment - important product pages do not get crawled and/or get too little link juice due to way too many links. 2. Total followed links? Are there links that should be nofollowed in order to establish optimal crawl path? 3. Total external links Too few or are we unnecessarily throwing away link juice off the site? 4. Total followed external links A healthy number or does it look spammy? Best regards Martin •

  • Hi Nathan, Thanks for writing in. We did have an issue where a few campaigns were seeing calendar icons rather than actual rankings during the week of October 9th that may have affected your campaign. Unfortunately, we don't have a way to provide data from a week that was missed because there isn't an index of historical rankings that we would have access to. I'm very sorry about that! The issue that affected your campaign has been corrected and you should not experience this same issue again. I truly apologize for the inconvenience this causes. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can help you with anything else. -Chiaryn

  • Hi Amanda, Thanks for writing in. The way to get SEOmoz to show ranking data for location specific results would be to add the city or state name to the keyword. For example, if you are looking for results for pizza places in San Francisco, you would want to add the keyword as pizza San Francisco rather than just pizza. Our system is set the provide ranking information for what most users would see, so adding the location to the keyword will help narrow the results down. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions. -Chiaryn

  • Thank you Smart Lock Just to be sure this means I still haev to check Google results individually with SEO_Moz on-page analysis to measure keyword difficulty? How much time do you devote to keyword analysis on a given topic?

  • If you focus on getting links from high quality, relevant directories, that will not hurt you. If the directory accepts every link that is submitted to them, that's when you are going to start running into trouble.

  • Hi Menelik, The explanation is that we are separate from Google, and have our own servers and crawlers. Our server farm isn't nearly as big as Google's, and doesn't crawl as fast. Open Site Explorer updates about once a month, and won't show you all of the links you see in GWT. However, we do add more information than you will see in Google with regards to metrics, and you can see link profiles of other sites that you do not own and have not verified in GWT. Hope this helps!

  • Due to the size of the internet as a whole, you'll find that all of those type of tools have indexed different content. If you really want to see as many as possible, do a direct Google search on your domain in quotes "yoursite.com" and "www.yoursite.com"  Then use Webmasters Tools, Open Site Explorer, Majestic and AHrefs as a starting point. See Rand's blog on the size of the OSE database here: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/octobers-mozscape-update Moz crawled 55 billion URLs.  In May they were indexing 150 billion but have had issues with that.  Most importantly, on the crawl updates, they said: "**This bit is important: **Next index, we're going back down to between 70-90 billion URLs, and focusing on getting back to much fresher updates (we're even aiming to get to updates every 2 weeks, though this is a challenging goal, not a guarantee). The 150 billion+ page indices are an awesome milestone, but as you've likely noticed, the extra data does not equate with hugely better correlations nor even with massively higher amounts of data on the URLs most of our customers care about (as an example, in index 50, we had ~53 billion pages and 82.09% of URLs requested had data). That said, once our architecture is more stable, we will be aiming to get to both huge index sizes and dramatically better freshness." So Mozscape/OSE index, Ahrefs, Majestic, Google and WMT will all show different URLs - try to check them all once in awhile and definitely stick with Google, WMT and Moz for the big databases.

  • Along the lines of what Bryan said, it depends on the niche you are competing in, and the authority of the website you are working for. If you have a large domain with lots of pages and content that is relatively optimized, it will be easier to compete. If you have a new domain with just a few webpages, most keywords with traffic will be tough to compete for. Slow and steady wins the race, but you can add targeted content consistently to move quicker!

  • Hi William, Thanks for the question. It looks like you've got a few great answers already. I thought I would weigh in as well. Branded keywords will be important for you to monitor how effective your branding efforts are. You'll also want non-branded keywords to help you to analyze how well your SEO efforts as a whole are doing. It's not required to have either, but I recommended it. I hope that helps. Cheers, Joel.
