Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Just the basic PageRank logic, nothing too fancy. I purposely didn't want to drill into quality and nature of each individual inbound link. The element that did bother me in that decision was whether the IBL's were unique domain or c-block. Other than that what wins is the fact that there are fewer outgoing links on the page I'm getting link from. I assumed this was external outgoing backlinks (not counting internal links, nav, footer etc).

  • Have you tried SEM Rush yet? It is a good place to build a list of several thousand keywords that you do not currently get traffic for by giving you competitive analysis on sites that compete with you. There is also Hit Tail which builds lists of long tail terms that people already use to search for your site, so that you can add these terms to the list of things you want to optimize for. Let me know what you think about these two tools, so that I can get an idea of what to recommend next if these do not fit the bill

  • Yeah I don't bother with ALM anymore, it doesn't track like it's supposed to even with the API. AWR is great but ALM is close to useless in my opinion.

  • That is an awful directory. None of the entries in the categories I looked at were even close, they were all over the place. Google has figured this out I would guess because of a very high number of reciprocal links. Most spammy directories require a reciprocal link to be included, so they likely have several hundred or even thousands of domains linking to them. Google would naturally penalize this. OSE doesn't seem to have a way to categorize reciprocal links, but that would be very incredible if they could. Imagine being able to see your followed links, nofollowed links, and right in there with it, your reciprocal links. Then they could reduce the authority of sites with over 90% reciprocal links or something. Would be good for an SEO to know as well especially when taking over a website you haven't done work on before. That's good info.

  • I would go and test this yourself. Go on to Google, log out of your Google account, then type in your search phrase and add: &pws=0 to the end of the URL and hit enter. This will remove any customized results for you and will help you determine the accuracy of the results of the two trackers.

  • Hey James, Good question! First off, Open Site Explorer actually uses Linkscape for its data, so data from the two sources should be the same. I checked it out and it looks like the root domain of www.hydropoolhottubs.com - which is all of the subdomains under *.hydropoolhottubs.com - has 102,418 total links pointing to it, while the subdomain www.hydropoolhottubs.com has 2,805 links pointing to it. This is probably because you have a lot of links pointing to a subdomain other than www, like to the root domain or to retailer.hydropoolhottubs.com. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions or if I can do more to explain it better. Cheers!

  • The data is there but not presented as nicely and requires some manual sorting. Traffic Sources --> Search Engines --> Add Metric "Landing Page" or "Keyword" There may be duplicates you need to account for if multiple search engines are sending traffic via the same keyword or to the same landing page. If you only want to see it for a specific search engine and therefore not have to remove the duplicates do this. Traffic Sources --> Search Engines --> Pick Search Engine --> Change Main Metric to "Landing Page" or "Keyword" Hope that help. I really like the way they format it though. It is a nice report. I wish they allowed for more custom reporting on those metrics though like adding custom dates and export to PDF, etc.

  • I have recently had a client ask about these metrics. After explaining that the numbers are just being used to compare them with competitors, I usually begin to explain the types of actionable items that influence authority and trust. I think most of us could do a better job explaining what it is that we do as well as why were doing it.

  • Great Question Scott. This particular domain has stumped several other people. uk.com is not a valid cc tld.  The proper cctld for the uk is .co.uk.   What you're looking at is two-letter rootdomain on a .com.  It's just like shoes.com or anything else.   People can basically buy subdomains from the owner of the uk.com rootdomain and host their websites there.  As you can see, it's a clever strategy because they get alot of diverse incoming links from all the subdomains they sell on their root domain. Pretty clever, huh?

  • Hi Crystal, Mike is correct  - the Linkscape report will stay the same until there is a new crawl. Sometimes these have been coming in in as little as three or four weeks, and there is lots of effort to make this as fast as possible. Cheers
