Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Hi Vinny, In general LinkScape updates every 30 or so days. So if you gain a new link or 3 part way through LinkScape's cycle it's very possible that it will not be included in the most recent update. Also, as awesome as it would be if LinkScape's directory were as large as Google's, it isn't. This is mostly just due to technology constraints I'd guess, and not having dozens of ENORMOUS data centers like Google. Because of this there is a chance that some links will not be picked up (especially if the links might be on really new sites, or maybe rather spammy ones). So it really turns into a waiting game to see if those links you know exist are picked up on the next LinkScape cycle or not. Finally, unless I've managed to totally avoid it this whole time, the index doesn't have any sort of history. The amount of data storage required to maintain such a history would be crazy in conjunction with how often they currently update their index. To name drop one of SEOMoz's competitors (sorry guys XD ) majesticseo.com does actually offer historic indexing services. I don't know how in-depth they are when you're fully subscribed, as I've never been a paying member of their services. It may be something worth checking out. And if someone comes into this question and corrects me about SEOMoz having historic index access, definitely do that instead! I know I will =P.

  • Danny Dover's book looks like a text book but reads more like a blog and focuses more on how to be an SEO practioner and what you need to do and know whereas the Art of SEO is more about the SEO knowledge. I'd definitely recommend reading both.

  • Hey Paul- If you are already receiving an A grade for the page, I don't see why you would need to drop those 13 characters before it. Remember that those words can entice users to click on your site in the SERPs if it looks more attractive than your competitors. For example, look at the SEOmoz Title: "SEO Software. Simplified." Im sure simplified is not one of their major target keywords, but helps both users and search engines.

  • Thanks David, I thought that if my competitors' links were more authoritative it would have also shown in Domain MozRank, Domain MozTrust, but perhaps not. Will have a closer look. Tom

  • Hi Tim, There is a new version of OSE in the works currently, though I'm not sure if that feature will be in there.  I know that the web app is set to have some for of historial tracking so stay tuned.  You can also submit feature requests here: http://www.seomoz.org/dp/change-log

  • I think what I've done wrong in the past is to go to sites in my field and get links from them. I should go to sites outside my field that relates to my specific page or blog, this way it's relevant, not trying to steal their traffic...

  • Hey nixforsix, I'm really sorry you're seeing those local results in the Keyword Difficulty tool. There's not a way to prevent that from happening at the moment, but I'll pass the issue on to our team and we'll try to come up with a fix as soon as we can. Thanks for letting us know! Feel free to shoot over other tech support questions to help@seomoz.org. Cheers, Aaron

  • There are two great posts in SEOmoz itself that I found very useful; Competitive backlink analysis and Using Google CSE Both use the tools within SEOmoz itself and will help you mine for link candidates more widely, and then analyse and target the links you want to gain in depth. With respect to which pages to link to, using the above tools will enable you to link with a wider variety of anchor text to specific pages - keeping the relevance as high as possible. Personally I would be inclined to balance between category and product - if you can get a targeted link for a niche phrase to a specific product page - do it, if the domain you are gaining the link from is in your field, but not product specific, go for the category link.

  • I have to admit that's exactly what I would do so I can't really suggest anything more exciting. Maybe someone needs to make an app that uses the SEOmoz api for intranet pages? No problem about the answer, very happy to chip in. Hopefully someone else with a better idea will drop by shortly.

  • It all depends on what do you mean for "most important". What I suggest you is to not limit the examination of the backlinks into OSE (I imagine you are using it for competitive analysis), but to export the raw datas in .csv format and then start using some Excel magic, in order to analyse the backlinks the way you consider the most suitable to your needs.

  • Hi, I confirm this problem is not new, it already existed 5 years ago when I started doing SEO. At that time, I ask about this and I've been told that is might be because the 10 results and 100 results queries were not returned by the same servers that might have not use the same algorithm. I also noticed a strange behavior from Google two weeks ago that navigating from pages 10 to page 1 wouldn't display the results in the same order than navigating from page 1 to page 10. Like if once you reached the 10th page, I would be then using a different server using a different algorithm. Best regards, Guillaume Voyer.

  • I agree that you should be able to upload a big image, but unfortunately most of the libraries I've seen for doing backend image manipulation don't do a great job scaling down large images. They often end up blurry. Whereas a good graphics program will sharpen properly and you'll end up with a much better looking image. Would be interesting to see if yours looks better if you upload a pre-scaled one.
