Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Hah! Well, yeah, effectively. As I say the linkscape crawl isn't as effective/deep as Google's so you'll need a couple of higher profile links to get picked up. Certainly getting more good links can't hurt

  • In addition to Steve having pointed out that the PR you see is totally invalid, and not truly reflective of your real situation, I'd also say that if it's only been back online a couple days, it's way too early to even begin to determine how the site holds up.  Nowadays Google assigns an initial estimated ranking value to each page on the site, and the site overall, but then other algorithms are run over the course of days, if not weeks.  These provide additional input to either confirm, deny or otherwise cause a modification to that initial assessment. Then there's the reality that in all that time, if other sites that compete for the same phrases undergo changes themselves in that general time-frame, that too would cause shifting. Personally I don't put too much weight in ANY "ranking" data.  Whether it's MozRank, Keyword search results ranking, or any other kind.  All of it's just a general guide. The only thing that truly matters nowadays for the vast majority of situations is - am I getting a volume of organic search traffic that suits my needs, goals? And from there, is that traffic highly relevant, to the point where those visitors become conversions - meaning how many of them take that next step after arriving that I am seeking? Such as filling out specific forms, or making specific purchases, or whatever the metric is. that data, over time, is what matters way more than ranking numbers. Just my experience.

  • Good question. There are a few ways of doing it but I'd advise using a canonical URL on each page to tell the search engines where the content stems from. I had a quick look at XenoForo and this looks relatively simple to do... although make sure you test things thoroughly just in case

  • Hi danfk, Daniel's response is exactly right (thanks Daniel!).  We don't offer that feature at this time, but I'll definitely pass your request on the team to see if it's something we can add down the line. Also, did you know we have a feature request forum? It's a great place to share your ideas. Other people can vote on them and it will help us determine priorities. You should check it out: http://seomoz.zendesk.com/forums Please let me know if you have any questions!

  • You can test it by searching for the keyword "Personalized childrens books".  If you get the same message, then maybe you need to look further. I think that you're most likely right and that it IS the apostrophe, but you can probably safely ignore it.

  • Thanks for your reply.. not hit during on the specific panda dates lots of duplicate page titles Google Webmaster Reports no major problems After correction it was hit after panda update or during it. I have, after the hit, did a lot of 302 redirection to newer URLs and title rewriting in a way to make titles and URLs as unique as possible. Google Webmaster was reporting a LOT of HTML suggestions before my action and is currently reporting zero HTML suggestions but a few crawling errors that was solved also a lot of time ago. _You state that you have lots of duplicate URLs yet you claim this is not the problem yet I would beg to differ. If there are duplicate URLs is there other weak or duplicate content? _ Problem is, the site is sports related. Contents are previews of fixtures of a lot of teams and in many occasions the fixtures are the same (obviously unique content for each preview and unique date as well, represented in the title and URL). Titles and URLs are both more than they should but this can't be helped because of the fix I did to make them more unique! Secondly, I have a client in the same industry and he is #1 in this industry. The same off-site promotions methods is used for both sites (don't get confused and assumed interlinking, etc..). The time my site took a hit his site performed more than the normal and he had big increase in rankings and traffic. It will be wise to mention that when speaking of contents, although the two sites has the same high quality contents, but my site consists of contents that is shorter (perhaps this makes google thinks this contents is shallow?). More importantly, the change I did to make titles and URLs more unique I never did to his site (I run both!) so in reality his site has a major problem of duplicated titles, yet performing very well, although Google Webmasters Tools is reporting a small amount of HTML suggestions (duplicate title tags) but it seems to help them though. I know we can't rely on this tool because "it is broken" but it helps a lot on many occasions. Do you have product descriptions that are used on other sites or on multiple pages across the site? Do you have lots of content that is repeated on multiple pages across the site? No off-site duplicate contents or similarity or widgets descriptions or whatever. The way site is structured and using tags makes a decent amount of tags pages being duplicated with "snippets" of the games previews/contents. I thought about having all tags pages in robots.txt but never executed the idea, and believe it or not on many occasions along the years I have seen googlebots not respecting robots.txt at all. I never thought of removing them manually using Google Webmasters Tools because in my opinion it is very risky and not required! **The kind of loss of traffic and ranking whilst still maintaining visibility for brand queries smacks of one of the more aggressive duplicate content filters that I have seen at least two cases of recently. These tend to kick in once the site has been crawled so do not stick to any specific date and the result is that you are buried for popular search terms but can still rank for terms with no competition and brand related queries. ** If I combined the site name/brand into a targeted keyword, the site is still ranking but if I did the same combinations with long tails (main landing pages/games previews) there is no result, and the latter is what ensures me there is some penalty or devaluation of contents (short contents=shallow contents?!). This could be remedied by the following measures: canonical urls for any internal page duplication **remove thin or weak content pages from the site (delete or noindex) ** remove or replace any content that is not unique to your site alone (generic product descriptions etc) identify any other sites that have stolen your content and request that it is removed & follow that up with DMCA request for any sites that will not play ball All of these measures has been considered already. For an example searching a snippet of contents return site homepage or other areas of the sites except for the intended ones, that is landing pages. **Happy to take another look if you can supply a URL. ** I have forwarded the URL to your inbox. Many thanks for the in-depth analysis, it at least makes me thinks of more issues to investigate. Regards, Hossam

  • What about the technical, is your site optimized for search engines to crawl, I like the Microsoft SEO Toolkit to find all issues. if you have more technical issues than your compeditors this maybe why. Does SEOMOZ show any issues. I use the tools to compare my progress against others in a relative way. They will never be completly accurate, but a good indication.

  • Hello Tom and Asif, First of all Tom thanks for the excellent blog post re google docs. We are also using the Jshop platform for one of our sites. And am not sure whether it is working correctly in terms of SEO. I just ran an seomoz crawl of the site and found that every single link in the list has a rel canonical in it, even the ones with session id's. Here is an example: www.strictlybeautiful.com/section.php/184/1/davines_shampoo/d112a41df89190c3a211ec14fdd705e9 www.strictlybeautiful.com/section.php/184/1/davines_shampoo As Asif has pointed out the Jshop people say they have programmed it so that google cannot pick up the session ids, firstly is that even possible? And if I assume thats not an issue then what about the fact that every single page on the site has a rel canonical link on it? Any help would be much appreciated. <colgroup><col width="1074"></colgroup> | | | |
