Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • It certainly seems to be part of the picture so far. We've had some canonical problems we were chewing through before this and those that had that fixed seem to be on the rebound. Still, traffic isn't back to where it was but the bleeding stopped.

  • lol well that would be a niche where you'll get some link troubles. But yes you're right it's very likely that some of those outgoing links are causing the issue. Any site that is spammy or in a spammy neighbourhood needs to be removed. Do you really need to keep any of them? Reciprocal links really don't do a lot for you anyway.

  • Good point, I guess it's partly because it's an 'unknown' factor right now and I want to find out more about it. We rank better than a couple of competitors who have much better page and domain authority scores and I'm curious as to why that is. It seems like there is a big discrepancy between how SEOmoz views our site and how Google views it (search rankings + toolbar PR), and I'm wondering what's causing it. We spend a lot of time on tools, content and website improvement, which definitely has a lot of customer benefits so it's worth doing it for that alone - customer satisfaction is our main focus. We have gained a lot of links and personal recommendations which are massively valuable in themselves, but domain authority hasn't increased at all. Thanks for your reply, always good to keep an eye on the bigger picture

  • Hey Websensible, No, we haven't fixed it - because it isn't really bug - we are just grouping all anchor text counts (internal and external) together at the moment. I am guessing any similarities between the counts is just coincidence since we haven't changed this behavior. -Kate

  • Its clear the term pagerank is ill defined. I would instead say that it is"clearly defined" but  "poorly understood."  description of pagerank PageRank is merely a measure of connectivity.  It is determined by the number of pages that link to your site, the PageRank of those pages and the number of outgoing links that the hold. KW rank is determined by a very large number of factors.  The greenbar pagerank that you see in the toolbar may not even be used in the same form that you see for determining rankings.

  • Hi David, Can you send an email to help@seomoz.org with this information? They'll be the ones able to help you. If this is an issue affecting a number of people, they'll also come over and add a comment here to let people know, but they'll work with you via the help desk to get this figured out. Thanks!

  • I was thinking of the same exact page to post in reply when I scrolled down to find that you'd already posted it. This is dead on. I absolutely can't wait for search engines to stop placing so much emphasis on domain keywords. I can't tell you how many times I get the dead fish stare from a client when they learn that their business name that they've had for 25 years is NOT the best domain name for their business website.

  • Hey Aaron. That's a good question for the SEOmoz help desk. I don't think there's a way to do that yet, but you should definitely still ask them to help.

  • Thanks! Is there a good way for me to check the whole site to identify a problem? In other words, if one is a problem, I should assume that others could be a problem. What is the best way to check? Thank you so much! I am not quite sure what to do and help is most appreciated. Eric

  • You should have setup a subdomain (which is what you are very linkely to have done anyway) but this linking issue is a real sticking point for you at the moment. It's difficult to give you concrete advise without knowing your friend's business model, marketing strategy and content, owever, lets just say for neatness he wants to keep his main squeeze page as it is - at www.kingofcopy.com - you could separate all of the squeeze pages from the 'subscribers' content by creating a sub folder called 'members-area' for example - so www.kingofcopy.com contains the squeeze page where it is now (and additional sqeeze pages reside at www.kingofcopy.com/maxoutsideusa.html etc) and all of the opt in content is moved to www.kingofcopy.com/members-area/ ensuring all of the good info that shouldn't be visible is noindexed accordingly. Of course, this advise is based on the assumption that you only want to rank squeeze pages. If I were undertaking this project I would do things a little differently - as I believe that sqeeze pages have now lost some of their kick - perhaps due to the huge numbers of them I have seen... So instead I would have a lot of teaser articles and videos - which contain a lot of good keyword targeted content all SEOd to the max, making sure that there are some good nuggets of info in them - so that the reader thinks - Wow! If the stuff he gives away for free is this good then I can't wait to find out how much better the paid for stuff is! In terms of onpage SEO and campaign management - separate content which you want highly visible from the members only content -  store non-indexed pages emembers pages within a sub-folder - link all of the content you want visible and indexing in some way

  • To keep the price down at $99. Devoting resources to bi-weekly ranking reports wouldn't be the best use of them, I imagine. The same resources could be used to analyse better data more often. You could also ask - why only 50 credits for the keyword difficulty tool? They're just delivering what they feel is the optimal balance of features for the $99 you pay.

  • Thanks for the replies! Yeah, I assumed they might take a few months to update as the pages may not be indexed straight away, so I'll hope that's the case. I've written some good content on our Blog that should filter through and sent out a press release today that's gone out to 10,000+ people via PRWeb. I'm hoping that will build up a few links and create a discussion of some kind on our blog but we'll have to see. Thanks for the tips so far, if anyone else has anything to add. Please let me know. Cheers Lewis
