  • Give this search a try press release web.  It's got most of the main ones.  Really, you only need one good release, though.  If you're really looking to make it big on a serious game that could catch on big-time, you may look to a company that specialized in writing press releases,  though.

  • I think you need to build more links. Am looking for a quick fix on this myself as our domain authority has recently taken a battering - we lost some links so it's probably down to that.

  • Feedly is one that I hear mentioned most often, but personally I'm going to wait it out for a month or two until a clear winner emerges. I also hear Digg is working on a new feed reader, which should be interesting.

  • Wow, thanks for that... It's interesting, because that would take the reseller option out - as a client may want something one year and not the next. So far the yahoo local visibility - I'm not impressed ... I 'submitted to over 100 directories' for a month i've had two listings, and my merchant circle is 'inaccurate' because the last time it was updated in their system was in November, 2012.  Of course it's inaccurate- and there's no way to submit a refresh from what i see. By hte two listings part what i mean is i have 9 suggested citations available that i'm missing as opportunities, but yet i have accounts for all of them and Getlisted.org shows I have all but one of those, but have an account on the missing one? Yahoo's reporting is horrible and from what i've seen so far is that its information is so outdated, great concept - poorly executed... Yext, being handcufffed is a real deal breaker, what happens when they decide to stop their 'DISCOUNT' marketing ploy and start charging you waht they claim is their 'full price' ...  What a nightmare that would be for all your stuff to just drop. All things considered - Yahoo's price is very reasonable  - but it's lack of update and accuracy(IMO), and 'sub-par' reports, would make me say that it's a no-go... Yext is a little pricey and can sticker-shock some people who are just starting up and don't understand the value of local citations completely.. But for them to have all their info, possibly get some results and then crash and burn worse than Maverick - The 'why' that happened, would not be a conversation i would ever want to have. -- There's also Whitespark, and from what I've seen it's almost more cost effective than Yext ($4/listing), you know what they've done... and You wont be inundated with  outdated information which is absolutely useless you may of done 'incorrectly prior and fixed since then, and now notified that that thing you corrected is fixed, but we'll tell you it isn't (Yahoo if you didn't infer that from the text). One issue I have, is that i have one site that has an address wrong completely and I can't find that citation anywhere from where they 'pulled' their information.  It's a local newspaper with a few dozen directory subsites..  Any help would be appreciated. Anyway, I appreciate the input/discussion...  and apparently there's no easy way out, sometimes you just gotta get your hands dirty.

  • By the error that is showing in the sitemap.xml looks like the plugin is "google-sitemap-generator". Try deactivating this plugin and asking yoast to rebuild the sitemap. Just keep the default yoast seo configurations for the sitemap and you will be good to go...

  • According to Google's, Ways to correct my local business listing to correct your business name, "If your business name isn't showing up correctly, edit the listing in your Google Places account. Verifying your listing allows you to personalize your business’s Place Page with custom fields, photos & videos, posts, and more." Depending on whether you have already verified the listing saying you are the business owner or if you just edited it for a local business the instructions may vary slightly. Hope this helps. Mike

  • Thanks for answering Spyder. I don't know if I'm able to add much flesh to the bones really. The customer isn't mine, and probably won't be - they have their own in house SEO person doing various SEO work. As I say, they encourage their clients to review them, and give them £10 for doing so. How this transaction take place, whether in way of discount on future goods or just a cheque for £10, I can't say. I'm unable to track anything of theirs properly (no access to the account) so can't say how this is impacting things. I suppose I wondered if it was a line worth pursuing for my clients, but I'm suspecting not. In regards to the google adwords, if there are lots of positive reviews/stars giving a big thumbs up, then I expect that will encourage people to click, therefore increasing the CTR, and in the process bring the overall cost per CPC down - I'm guessing at least. Back to my original thought/question - does it affect SERPS directly - I'm thinking not.

  • Hi Mark Yes, Google will display your rich snippets if they are static or "hard coded". They need to be true numbers as you shouldn't be abusing the ratings but they will in-fact show provided your structured data is correct. Hope that helps!

  • Hi David, If you do not have the time to resubmit, you do not need to right away; however, if you continue to remove pages from your site, you should update your sitemap to reflect your site's actual structure. If you leave it there, you are telling Google, "Hey, I got this page about XYZ. You should crawl it." And if you remove that page, you aren't providing Google with accurate information. You will probably receive a message about it in WMT saying that your sitemap was not fully indexed. You shouldn't be concerned about causing delay in Google recrawling your site and you should not expect any decrease in rankings. Just because you submit an updated sitemap, doesn't mean Google is going to drop everything to recrawl your site. It may take a week for Google to get around to reindexing everything. And as long as the content and URL structure on the rest of your pages hasn't changed, you can expect your ranking to me more or less the same. Hope this helps. Mike

  • Your original post said that there were tracking numbers.  There was no mention of "phone" numbers.   I assumed that they were parameters on the URL of referred traffic for the purpose of attributing sales. I guess I just would just rather see them invest in content rather than duplicate links. I agree with the value of content.  Most of my investments are going there.

  • You could use a rel="canonical" pointing to the preferred version of each page. This isn't as optimal as using a 301 because I believe Bing still only considers the rel="canonical" a hint, but it sounds like your best bet at this point. Worth a shot.

  • Hi Stephanie, the only other tool I can think of is SearchMetrics.com. They monitor a large volume of keywords (organic and PPC) on a weekly / monthly schedule and Canada is definitely one of the countries monitored (I just logged in and checked). Hope this helps. • Try offering free products to bloggers as an incentive for them to write reviews about your site. Or offer special deals & discounts to the readers of influential bloggers. There are lots of things you can do: http://pointblankseo.com/link-building-strategies

  • Here's a quiz you can take that may help: http://www.mytrafficdropped.com If you've got Google Analytics, take a look at your organic search traffic and see if there is a distinct drop that happens exactly on a known Panda date or Penguin date.  If so, then this is usually a good indication of a problem. It's not always black and white though (no pun intended).  Penguin is mostly about poor backlink quality.  If you've got a lot of backlinks from articles and other easy to get sources and they contain your keywords as anchor text, AND you have a traffic drop on April 24, May 25 or October 5 then Penguin is likely. Panda is about on page quality.  If you've got a drop on a Panda refresh date then look for duplicate content or thin content on your site.

  • Hi Sebastian, Thanks for reply and sorry I hadn't checked back sooner, must have missed it. As we provide our affiliates with several different options for widgets/links so try and not disrupt the flow of their site, we have a couple of different kinds. We tend to set up affiliates with their own subdomain so that our system can track how many sales they make etc. while also allowing them to retain their own branding with a "re-skin" of our site (the root domain is http://www.experienceoz.com.au ) One example would be: http://www.surferscentury.com.au/ where they have the token "skyscraper" banner on their page Another with the full "booking widget" is the Great Barrier Reef official site: http://www.greatbarrierreef.com.au As you'll see from this there is a "logo" of our company at the bottom of the widget currently with no link; I can basically get the developers here to automatically switch it from a static image to a hyperlink to our homepage (we'd literally get hundreds of more backlinks from pretty high quality sites instantly if we made this change) however I don't want it to come across as us "paying" for the links as mentioned even though we technically aren't. Anyway appreciate the reply, cheers.
