Keyword stuffing on category pages - eCommerce site
I have a question! Did you solve this problem? I saw on your page https://www.theis-vine.dk/vin-fra-frankrig/champagne/ that you continue to have keyword stuffing. It is visible with a single search on the page (see Image 2 attached)! Moz On-Page Grader sees only 22 instead of 32, anyway is it keyword stuffing. Is it important to me if you fix the problem! And it is important for me to understand if this keyword stuffing really hurt in SEO ranking. I always fix this problem but now I have a problem with a non-plural keyword. Thank you! Wait for your feedback. lRcx9 lC9VS

Disavow links directed to http version of site - but now indexing https
You need to re-upload the existing disavow file to the new HTTPS-verified Google Search Console Property, James. That's the only one that needs to be maintained going forward. Paul

Location Links in Footer
Miriam Ellis has written on this subject a few times and perhaps her advice would be useful here. Check out these articles if you haven't seen them already: https://moz.com/blog/overcoming-your-fear-of-local-landing-pages https://moz.com/blog/local-landing-pages-guide Regarding link structure from your main site, she suggests: Do not bury your local landings pages somewhere deep within the architecture of the website. Link to them from a high-level menu. But she immediately follows that up with this point: "Finally, do not build an unreasonable number of landing pages." It sounds like you're right within that recommended threshold. Hope you're able to find something useful in those links. Good luck!

Can I run a successful SEO campaign for a subdomain?
The problem is that our hosting platform is in a completely different programming language, if that makes sense. If we were to host another WordPress blog and want to put it on the same domain, it would have to be on another server and then load balanced, which would be a programming nightmare and consume thousands of dollars in hours of labor and other costs.

I have noticed google load times are incorrect in the console
Are you seeing these numbers in the new Search Console? It'd be worth checking them in the old version, while it's still around, just to make sure they two sync up. I've heard people mention some difference (although not specifically page speed). Might also be worth running some checks from different locations. If you're always viewing your load times from one or a couple of locations, you may be seeing ideal speeds and not seeing problems other people could be having. Not to say Google is right, but this is one possible explanation for the difference. You're seeing 1.2 seconds as TTFB in Google or as the overall load time?

Google blocks certain articles on my website ... !
Thanks a lot Andy for your kind response and I will email you indeed. Bit I magically noticed after latest Google update a few days ago, some blocked articles shows now on top 3 results right away without even the normal ascending time (I usually see my articles on the second page 2 days after publishing them for targeted keyword and during 2 to 3 weeks they jump to top 3 results but it doesn't happen for some certain blocked article and they show right away on top 3 results now)

Homepage has canonical tag pointing to innerpage
Hi Don, Thank you for your response. The homepage and inner page are an exact duplicate (mirror). Cheers!

Does changing template for a wordpress site affect SEO
Yes there can be big impacts, as template changes may result in any of the following changes: Design and UX Site Architecture Internal Linking Page Speed Other possible inconsistencies between themes, depending on your WordPress setup in general (title tags, structured data, etc) In general, to mitigate against these, I would do the following: Design and UX - at minimum take a 'gut check' and be sure the new theme is a design and UX improvement - ie: is content still above the fold? Are there any weird scrolling issues (I see this sometimes with themes that try to be too fancy), are the menus still easy to navigate? Architecture - make sure the new theme doesn't break anything like your URL structure, or pagination links to archive pages etc. Internal linking - aim to keep your menus (main nav, drop downs, footer, sidebars) exactly the same at least for now - if your footer nav has links to important pages for example and those links go away, this might hurt the performance of those pages. Page Speed - as Donald astutely noted, make sure the new theme is at least the same in page speed, or better an improvement. You can use a few tools like WebPageTest or GTMetrix to test. Other - also as noted, try to get your SEO settings situated correctly before making the switch, and use the Yoast plugin. Then when you switch your theme, be sure the Yoast plugin settings are still primary and your new theme has not overridden anything. Hope that helps! -Dan

INTERNAL LINKS strategy on our website
The "learn more" bit is a good point. I see it on a lot of successful blog sites. I think it makes the user experience better as it allows you to present your site in a structured way. Better experience then means better conversion rates for whatever you're trying to achieve!

Should I redirect a domain we control but which has been labeled 'toxic' or just shut it down?
You could actually just use the disavow tool and target those toxic links. Google will then ignore them and as long as you have redirected the site properly, you should be good to go. However, it is also worth making a decision on how important the domain is to your over all strategy and if it seriously brings something to the table. If it is not going to make that much of an impact, then you should just get rid of it and move on.

Keywords in TOP 5 then disappearing, then reappearing (ongoing for months)
Do you have multiple similar products that are targeting the same keywords, could the pages be keyword cannibalising each other and the pages keep switching in your rankings. If so you may benefit from canonicalising similar content pages that may not be direct duplicates or trying to further seperate the content. e.g. Product review 1 ranks P3 then drops whilst another page say Product review 3 takes its place. Do you track each url placement?

301 Redirect to Home Page or Sub-Page?
Hey JuanWork–_it depends, _but if the subpage is a more appropriate new location for the old domain (e.g. old domain's company was acquired by a new company, and is now a _service _on new company's website, it'd be more fitting for old domain to be 301 redirected to the service page on new company's site). You mentioned that it's a "good old expired domain"–is the domain actually expired, or do you still have ownership of the domain name? If the former, TRY TO BUY IT BACK! If the latter, no worries

Our company creates cobranded subdomains for our clients; does that hurt our SEO?
Andy, your answer makes sense and aligns with what I've heard from other SEO experts. Much appreciated.

Keyword before location: Do you notice a big difference in performance?
Thanks for your reply. When you say that "the order of K+L or L+K on your page doesn't seem to limit that page's ability to rank for K+L (or K in L)," is this based on anecdotal evidence or your research? I'd be interested in both but the latter would be great. Sorry, I can't share the exact target, but "chinese food Austin" is a good example.

Best way to get love from expired domain
This is a very old tactic, very little if any benefit as far as Google authority concerned. You should remember that PA and DA etc are brand names and have nothing to do with Google themselves and they are not used in any way in the ranking algorithm. To avoid future issues and to minimise the effect of blackhat SEO like this Google will normally 'reset' the domain when it expires. So any authority it did have it is very much minimised if not completely obliterated.

Are keywords in the title tag becoming redundant?
Thanks Andy, I suspect you're spot on. Even Google uses keywords with their own products, eg https://www.google.com/analytics. It's just quite amazing that so many big digital agencies are happy to miss out on the opportunity.
