Yes, our positions are gradually declining, and I'm trying everything I can, no matter how seemingly small, until I can figure out why.

Something I don't think I was clear on is the fact that I'm not very concerned with the caps page itself. My ultimate goal with almost every SEO thing I do is to give the entire site more authority so that the home page will rank higher. In that case, is the blog post without question the better option?

Oh, I just saw what you added. Yes, that's the page in question. Maybe I should do both--expand that page and write a blog post--with DIFFERENT content.

What I want to add onto the blog or onto this page is not duplicate content; I just got finished writing it.

The additional information isn't relevant to every single person who would want caps, which is what makes me want to do a blog post. On the other had, more content on the caps page would help its SEO. I guess I just answered my own question. Think user first. Put it on the blog.

I want to go in-depth about different customizations for custom caps, which is one of the products we offer. I just don't know whether it would be better--from an SEO perspective--to expand the caps sales page we already have or to write a blog post to give the site another valuable indexed page. From a user standpoint, I don't think it's as important, because if I do it the blog way, I can't just put a link on the page saying, Want more customizations? Visit our blog post.

Any opinions?

Thank you! I'm glad someone finally answered this! I really need to get going on it. I think that is what I'm going to do--make a top-level page for the main categories and then only have navigation to the sub-categories on the top top-level page for each category. It seems like the best solutions for both humans and bots.

So guess what? I added a links with images on the home page just for the most relevant keywords, like you said, and my ranking improved!

because besides the fact that it looks ugly, it's an SEO mess. Since all the pages are comprised of images, and the only text is the navigation, I'm getting duplicate content issues. I tried adding a little paragraph of text on some of the pages, but this thing needs a total revamp.

My main question is this: is that menu being repeated on all the pages really a good thing? What good is it to, say, on the fire patches page, to have a menu that includes all these keywords for sports patches? Would it be better to just have a main gallery page that lists the main patch types: applique, motorcycle, Scouting, ect, and then once you get to that page, list all the different sub categories?

Thanks for all the responses. Of course, I thought of the redirect route, but there are hundreds of wrong links, so I was trying to avoid the 301 thing.  I am the webmaster, so if anyone does remember what that script was, that's be great!

In Google WM tools I'm seeing so many 404 crawl errors but they're all from other sites linking to us incorrectly, which I can't do anything about. Will this hurt us somehow as far as SEO goes?

The logical thing would be that it would hurt the site doiing the linking but it does come up in OUR WM tools, so it makes me wonder.

So the preexisting Google account is already for my business and under the business name, because we use it for AdWords, ect. So should I just leave that G+ profile blank and create a business page under it?

I am taking over for the previous marketing director and our company already has a Google+ page, but I think it's set up like we are an individual.

It seems like creating a business page works the same way as Facebook, where you have to create a page under a preexisting account. The annoying thing is that just about every business in existence that has a website already has a Google account, whether it be for analytics, AdWords, or Webmaster Tools.

So, what, do I have to create two Google+ pages, one that is the actual business page, and one just as a placeholder as the owner of the page? I don't get it! And I cannot find anything online that discusses this!

Another question is which would be worse for SEO: leaving it the way it is, categorized by month and date, or changing the whole structure when I have dozens of posts?

Obviously I'm not saying don't build links. I'm saying don't waste time on links of no value. What makes a link have value will always be a topic of debate, a debate i do not have time for.

I have seen thousands of sites like this that have been created with the sole purpose of placing links and articles on to help ranking. I predict that one day Google will catch on and these sites will face a similar fate as did the Panda affected sites of last year.

Ah, so it's a monthly limit. I must have read that page five times and I never saw that part. Thanks!
