Let's say I do a guest blog post on a PR5 site.

Let's also say the post is deep within the site, and the page rank that flows to it is only maybe PR1 or 2. Let's also say it doesn't get many links to it so it forever stays that way.

Will Google realize even though the PR of that page is low, it's on a PR5 site, thus giving it more link power than it the overall site were a PR2 site?

Did that make any sense?

I guess it would depend on what the single word and the long phrase is. There's no blanket answer for every situation.

www.site.com/ and www.site.com/index.html, site.com/index.html/, ect, are already the same page. So, there's only one page TO put the tag on. You're just telling the crawlers that you only want one of them to get the credit, and which version of the page you prefer to be displayed.

I think you should definitely be avoiding a 4% keyword density unless it truly is natural for your site. 8-12% is WAY TOO HIGH! It doesn't take much for Google to consider something to be keyword stuffing. Read your copy out loud to someone. If the keyword placement sounds forced and unnatural to them, it probably will to google as well.

Your problem probably isn't lack of a good keyword percentage on that page, but rather, lack of links with that anchor text pointing to that page.

Most of our product pages only have about a paragraph of text in them like this one. I was hoping by adding five or six paragraphs of helpful information to all of those pages like this one that Google would consider the whole site more helpful rather than only the page.

I mean, individual pages have to count in some way toward the quality of the overall site in Google's eyes. I've always heard that it's a good thing to have a lot of indexed pages--as long as they're good. So if it's only individual pages that matter, then what's the difference between a site that has 1,000 quality pages vs. a two page site as far as home page ranking goes?

Is having 1,000 indexed pages only a good thing because you have 1,000 chances to rank for 1,000 different terms, and has no bearing on the homepage?

So if I devote a lot of time to adding a lot of quality content to my site--lots of text and helpful information about our products, Google doesn't view the site in general as better and more informative, thus ranking the home page higher? All that extra text helps is just the page it's on?

This is going to sound like such a newbie question. I don't know how I've been doing SEO all this time and haven't come across the answer.

It's usually true that a homepage will have the most backlinks, but what if it doesn't? What if an internal page has more links? Is it possible for an internal page to have a higher PR than a homepage?

Additionally, if I do on-page SEO for many internal pages of my site, will it only help those particular pages or will it give the whole site a boost, thus making the homepage rank higher in the SERPS?

I don't get a 404 error either but I do notice something strange happening.

As I watch the address bar, first I see what I put in: http://www.earthsaverequipment.com

Then it changes to www.earthsaverequipment.com

before finally settling on earthsaverequipment.com once the page fully loads.

I think there are too many redirects in there. What exactly are you trying to achieve? And also, redirects aren't supposed to happen from the robots.txt file, but rather, the .htaccess file.

Too many http requests can slow down the load time of your site, thereby hurting your SEO.

I've always been a little confused about press releases because If one of my releases was to get picked up and then posted to multiple sites, those sites would have duplicate content. Or what if I wanted to submit one release per two sites? Would either of those things hurt me? For example, if I have a backlink on three sites that have the exact same press release, isn't that similar in format to having spun articles? Does Google take note of that?

I know that free press release sites don't always do the best job at getting ones relates out there, but I had a thought. What if I were to submit the same release to say, ten free press release sites? Would that it at least give me ten backlinks from those sites alone? They'd be good backlinks since I'll be able to have the desired anchor text.

Is that just another version of article spinning, or is it a good strategy for getting the release out there as much as possible? I'd value any of your opinions.

I agree with everything you said, and I don't think you were accusing me of being lazy; I was just concerned I was coming off that way. SEO is an uphill battle as it is, but it's even worse when you work in-house for people who don't understand its value. And even worse when no matter how hard you try, you fall in rankings because your competitors are employing shady black hat tactics.Both are things I am grappling with.

I don't want to sound lazy; after all, I blog three times a week and do guest posts. My problem isn't that I don't come up with fresh content; it's that nobody cares when I do. The content strategy is great if you get loads of traffic on your site and people who want to share it. I could come up with the coolest piece of content ever. It doesn't do me any good if no one sees it. I could post it on Facebook. We have 400 fans--probably 40-50 will see it. Out of those 50 one or none will 'like' it. Same goes for Twitter. Content marketing is great if you're a large company. Don't get me wrong, I do it all the time--I just never see pay-off. But I'm not giving up!

Well, I use Open Site Explorer and similar tools, but with some of the results, just because a competitor had a link from a certain site, doesn't mean I'll be able to get one. A lot of the time, it is one of their clients mentioning they did business with them. A lot of the others are paid links and stupid, low quality directories. I am struggling with the fact that all my competitors are all employing black-hat, spammy link acquisition methods, and here I'm trying to do everything the right way, which takes forever with so little payoff. I could spend three hours for one guest blog backlink. Not to mention I keep dropping in the SERPs while they keep rising.

I am currently in the research stage of finding more sites that I will be able to do things such as submit infographics, guest post, or get easy backlinks that are legit. I feel out of options, as I have already built links with a lot of sites but feel like I need more. Has anyone ever seen someone actually sharing all of their hard work by providing a list of all the sites that worked for them? Or does there come a point when really your only option left is to guest post or be a HARO source? I have been doing those things all along--I'm not just looking for easy, lazy links!  Is there anyone who's gotten a site up to a high PR score who's felt out of options, like they've already done all they know how to do? I'd like your opinions. I know it seems like an outrageous question to ask, but I thought I'd throw it out there. I'd be willing to share sources too; I'm not just trying to mooch off people!
