If I were you I'd apply for reconsideration again with something like this: "Dear Webspam Team, Thank you for taking the time to reconsider my site.  I do admit that at one time I offered guest posts from my blog.  However, I have now removed all links from those posts.  I have no intention of ever offering guest posts again.  I have removed the "write for us" section of my site and will now concentrate solely on writing my own posts for the site. I enjoy writing these articles and participating in the Adsense program. Thank you once again, [your name]"

You should probably set the www.website.com/the-mayflower/ version as the canonical. So the page on the subdomain, and all other copies, would ALL have a rel canonical tag that points to www.website.com/the-mayflower/. I wouldn't block the subdomain based on what you've said, but complicated issues like this are difficult to fully diganose and prescribe fixes without seeing the site.

Long Tail Pro - It's invaluable for finding long tail keywords that have decent search volume with low competition. Simply plug in 4 or 5 keywords and it automatically and instantly retrieves thousands of related keywords from the Google AdWords Keyword Tool. Then you can sort and filter by various criteria, but what is most useful is sorting by competition which uses the SEOmoz Keyword Difficulty API. It's by far my favorite keyword research tool at the moment. http://longtailpro.com/ (the website kinda makes it look like a spammy "Internet Marketer/Get Rich Quick" product but I swear it's legit!)

Guest posts are being targeted actively by Google - so aren't necessarily a good idea just for SEO. If you are going to go that route, then just make sure that: the blog is indexed it's relevant to your niche the link they give you is 'do follow' Good luck

Maybe the easiest way to get further up is to concentrate some time on Google+ Local. Get yourself a decent local setup with good keyword usage, make sure the account is 100% complete with photos, video etc and do some local citation building. Get as many of your previous clients to put reviews up (gradually) and once you get past 5 reviews you might see a jump onto page 1.  From what I see here in the UK the competition is pretty weak for Buffalo apartments for Local so this might be your best route back to page 1. Is there a particular date where you saw a drop because the recent Penguin update (think was 22nd May) took place. If you're noticing a drop here then you may have been hit by Penguin and need to take a deeper look into your link profile. What's your URL?

Besides just avoiding low quality links the best thing to do is only do things you would normally to increase brand awareness.  Only go for quality links that will drive traffic to your site.  They will also help increase your rankings,   Link bait is also a great way to get people to link to your site and share your content too.   Have you looked into doing some Press Releases if you have news worthy things to talk about or quality guest blogging? They are all good ways that will not get you penalized by google.

For what business type are you advertising? Web design and SEO? They don't show up in local results. Or is this a different type of business? Does it have a unique address and phone number, or is it at a PO box?

Hi KLLC Do you mean that pages are showing up as duplicate content in the SEOMoz crawl report but you have canonical tags in place? If so don't worry as SEOMoz doesn't recognise canonical tags yet and so still reports the pages as duplicate content even though you may have tagged them correctly to help search engines. Add the "noindex" tag to subpages of archive pages to fix the duplicate page title and potential duplicate content issues. Alternatively, you can add page numbers to you template (but that won't take care of the duplicate content problem). This feature is available in Yoast's WordPress SEO plugin. I recommend migrating to it from All-In-One. AIO may have the same feature -- check the Settings panel.

I checked this plugin but when I published my company department page I saw all the information that I fill with this plugin showing at the end of the article. After these all step page looking unprofessional.

In your space you need to show people your good and help out in communities. I would also try to focus on one niche type of site and get known for it in the industry  or find someway to differentiate yourself. I would reach out to marketers and "I.T" people who dont build sites and try to get them to refer you.
