Different number of backlinks (Search console - Majestic)
Google's primary objective is to give users the best experience, off course they do so by crawling the entire web for the most relevant results based on their search queries. Google's Search Console is a free service that provides you with links Google the came across / found in the before mentioned proces. With this in mind, be aware that Google does not crawl the web to give you as a webmaster the most recent en relevant backlink reports. many links in Google's Search Console can therefore be old, non-existing links (even in most recent link reports) Another shortcoming of Search Console in my opinion, is that is show where links are/were FROM, but not where they link TO. I personally think paid services such as MOZ, Majestic en Ahrefs do better jobs at this, because their primary objective is to give webmasters / SEM's the best experience, not searchers.

301 redirects
Load time isn't that much, same domain redirects only take 16-25ms. I would be more concerned with cross domain redirects.

How long do changes in title tags take to affect SEO?
It is a loaded question as there are many other more important facets than Title tags. So wary of answering. A site audit is where to start. https://moz.com/blog/technical-site-audit-for-2015 Other factors to consider and monitor carefully include page loading speed, and the combinations of the url and H1's. For example I have seen sites penalized for having the same url, title tag, h1 and the meta description keyword stuffed with the same keyword. All that said title tags are still important though less so but to answer we would need context with what else is happening on site. A quick check tool is website.grader.com On your specific question of how long until Title tags may impact usually after indexing so 2-7 days. Use fetch for google if wish to make happen sooner. Hope that assists.

Sitelinks in multiple language
Correct answer. I would only add that implementing the breadcrumb data vocabulary/structured data can help Google understanding the structure of a site, hence facilitate also the "creation" of good sitelinks. On the other hand, it is plausible thinking that Google will present as sitelink those Urls that tend to be more clicked via search. The sitelinks, in fact, has also the function to help users clicking to the most "popular" Urls for the brand name/homepage search snippet. We cannot control what sitelink Google will show, but we can demote those Urls Google is showing if we consider they are wrong or not useful. Finally, your suggestion about geotargeting should not be taken into account if the site is multilingual.

What to use instead of a 404
Hi, It's not about 'using 404 pages'. It's about removing the occurence of a 404 page when a product isn't available... So the answer is yes. It's fine to redirect what was a product page to the main relevant category page if that product is no longer available and you don't plan on restocking in the future. In fact it's recommended if you want to preserve a large percentage of the link equity the original page has built up, and hopefully provide a good user experience by allowing customers to find alternative products. The only issue is if you have thousands of products being discontinued, then the amount of 301s can affect the speed of your website. But I've managed redirects for websites with 100s of thousands of products, and 10s of thousands of error pages without any issue. I'd echo Yossi in saying that it may be worth creating a custom 404 Error Page which helps your users if they encounter it, and also improves your branding - with most eCommerce sites with large inventories, it's inevitable error pages will crop up despite your best efforts. And I'd echo Nitin in saying that if you might get the product back again, you're better leaving the pages on the site and allowing customers to register their interest when it reappears...

Include or exclude noindex urls in sitemap?
Hi vcj and the rest of you guys I would be very interested in learning what strategy you actually went ahead with, and the results. I have a similar issue as a result of pruning, and removing noindex pages from the sitemap makes perfect sense to me. We set a noindexed follow on several thousand pages without product descriptions/thin content and we have set things up so when we add new descriptions and updated onpage elements, the noindex is automatically reversed; which sounds perfect, however hardly any of the pages to date (3000-4000) are indexed, so looking for a feasible solution for exactly the same reasons as you. We have better and comparable metrics and optimization than a lot of the competition, yet rankings are mediocre, so looking to improve on this. It would be good to hear your views Cheers

Adding Copy on Inventory Listing Pages
If I understand the question correctly, it sounds similar to how most eCommerce sites deal with sub-category (e.g. Apparel/Clothing/Pants) and you're asking if you should put unique content on those pages. There is no right or wrong answer here, but I have two guidelines for you to consider. #1 Search Volume Does the topic of the category / inventory page receive significant search volume? For example, if it is a landing page about a brand-specific product (e.g. Used Honda Accord) it probably deserves its own content. If nobody searches for the exact product assortment that page is about (e.g. blue used Honda Accord year 1989) then you may not need the content to rank for those long-tail queries. #2 How Can You Help Your Visitors? The primary goal of content on these pages should be to help the visitor. Improving your rank for searches should be a secondary concern, which will alleviate some of your trouble with pushing the listings further down on the page. Think about what the user is trying to do on this page. Most of the time they're still not sure exactly WHICH product to choose, or they'd have landed on a product page, or a deeper category. Help them choose. For example: Brand X is for entry-level shoppers and provides the greatest value. Brand Y is for experienced shoppers and has the most features. You can use drop-down divs and other display tactics to keep from pushing the listings down too far. You can also prioritize these pages so you're not writing content for all of them at once. By focusing on the top performing 20% or so first, you'll find out if the investment is going to scale out well to the rest of the pages, or if you should just leave them alone.

Google Console returning 0 pages as being indexed
No problem at all. As you said, the fact that you can do a site: search and see that your pages are actually indexed means that most importantly, your site is in Google's index. As for it not showing up in Search Console, it's very hard to troubleshoot these ones without access to the account - after 3 or 4 weeks you really should be seeing at least some data in there. To my knowledge, the only part that really lags a whole lot is the number of indexed pages. You should be able to see Content Keywords for example. If all data is completely blank, there may be a larger problem here. Can you see Analytics data for this domain? If so, was Search Console verified via Analytics?

What is the radius for local search results
For a local shop that has their Google My Business set to indicate they serve customers at their location (as opposed to a delivery radius or areas served), Google will base the businesses shown in a search on either the Location the user specifies or will base them on what they know about the given businesses of the area in relation to the query plus any geolocation information of the user in question. So there isn't exactly a radius bubble that you would need to fall into for those specific kinds of situations. Now, for an industry like landscaping, cleaning companies, food delivery, emergency auto repair, tow trucks, etc. They can set a radius they serve within or they can set specific areas. So a locksmith might set a handful of postal codes as the regions they will drive to in order to fix your locks. While a Pizza Delivery Service might choose to set a radius of 25km for their service area because they might not be able to reliably deliver outside that. All of these things can be set up in their Google My Business account. I know from personal experience that Google will show me things easily 100 miles away from my location if there is nothing in between that fits my search. https://support.google.com/business/answer/7091?hl=en

What are the SEO considerations when migrating a whole site from http to https
Hi, Cyrus Shepard did a really good post on this not too long ago. There's a lot more to it than simply redirecting the old URLs. Check out the full list here: https://moz.com/blog/seo-tips-https-ssl Post-launch, you'll want to closely monitor the index. Check back daily (it only takes a few minutes) to ensure that your HTTP URL count is decreasing and your HTTPS count is increasing.
