      Hello !

In a french browser & french Google interface with no browsing history, I have the french version of my website indexed, but the site links coming along with it are in English ! Is there any way to combat this? Note - we use a 302 language re-direction.

        Hi

Probably you have already set the country settings in Google Search Console.
+++ And made sure that all of your hreflang codes are set-up properly to let Google know.
(if you did, are you able to see them under Search console?)
This being said, unfortunately as opposed to PPC, you have absolutely no control over sitelinks except demoting them in search console.
You will always have pages like "login" or even "forgotten password" pages which you never choose to showcase but you can get rid of them. They will be replaced with others as Google sees appropriate.
You can still try to influence it by increasing inner linking and page authority.

        Good luck

          Correct answer.

I would only add that implementing the breadcrumb data vocabulary/structured data can help Google understanding the structure of a site, hence facilitate also the "creation" of good sitelinks.

On the other hand, it is plausible thinking that Google will present as sitelink those Urls that tend to be more clicked via search. The sitelinks, in fact, has also the function to help users clicking to the most "popular" Urls for the brand name/homepage search snippet.

We cannot control what sitelink Google will show, but we can demote those Urls Google is showing if we consider they are wrong or not useful.

Finally, your suggestion about geotargeting should not be taken into account if the site is multilingual.
