  • I'd be interested in seeing this! I don't think there is currently a method of doing this, as I haven't yet found out how to access historical keyword data. Maybe like you I'm missing something, but if not it's definitely something to add to the product roadmap. Lets hope Rand comes to the rescue!

  • Looks like both URLs are being rendered from the same View (products.php). Depending on how your site was implemented you're going to have to address it at the controller and/or rewrites level. What the error says is that the page is redirecting to itself ad-infinitum.

  • So I made the SSL cert badge from Starfield Tech a simple clickable .jpg rather than a 3rd party server (which included flash... WT?) call and it cut my page load speeds site wide by 1,000ms ... pretty awesome. Thank you guys for attempting to answer my admittedly poorly asked question.

  • It's usually best to use your target keyword at the beginning of the description.  Users will not always read the full description when scanning the SERP. Search engines seem to give the to give more weight to the keywords at the beginning of the description as well. So the closer to the front the better. Okay, that being said, you have to make sure you are not trying to jam all of your keywords at the beginning otherwise it will turn off the user. Choose the most important one as your primary keyword to use at the beginning and use other related keywords throughout the description where they make sense.

  • Hi Al, I assume you mean more than one campaign in the pro web application?  If that is a correct assumption, the answer is yes - we think of campaigns as domains - so for each domain you have that will represent one campaign (and there are 5 offered in Pro - and here is a page with more info: http://www.seomoz.org/plans) And you can always try it out by taking a free trial here: https://www.seomoz.org/cart/freetrial Hope that helps, let me know if it didn't answer your question.   • Jean, The more important question is how relevant a directory or association site is to the market your trying to target?  Inbound link profiles require you have links coming from sites and directories that have a variety of performance indicators, from relatively low up to as high as you can obtain. If that association is quite appropriate to your site's purpose and intent, not only do you get the benefit of relevance relationships, you can also potentially get people clicking through to your site from your listing there.  Highly relevant people.  Which itself is both good for business and a strong signal to search engines that it's a valuable link, and your site is important.

  • Dan, I'm curious about what you are not communicating as much as what you are. If every site is unique, and if every site contains high quality, optimized content, and has a high quality inbound link profile / social buzz initiative, then there should be no problem with hosting them on the same IP block.  Unless the plan is to use them to cross-link to each other.  Except the value of that strategy would only come from all sites having the same related topical focus. If the goal is several sites all being related and cross-linking to each other, or to try and dominate the 1st page of search results with multiple domains for the same search queries, then they should all ideally be on different IP blocks across multiple hosts and in different geographic locations. Except that kind of strategy requires significantly more effort since every site will need quality depth of content, regular freshness of content, and ongoing link building and social efforts. So it's usually better to just have one single site that all efforts can be applied to.

  • I really like account groups. Account managers that make money are sales people and can't answer questions or make estimates. They always take notes and have to get back to you. The goal is to make money and this maybe a more profitable way to operate. But on the other hand happier customers is more business. I like this idea: Account contact and a group of tech/ specialists. Any of these people can be contacted. Your question: account manager should usually be the primary point of contact.

  • "How do I know when a site has too many links versus the number of unique cblocks?" There is no set number or formula. You want your links to be as diverse as possible, and C-class IP blocks is one metric that matters. "Is this the total number of unique cblocks on the web or am I using the tool wrong?" There are many more than that. Not familiar with the tool, but it may be a limitation of the tool. It looks like it uses Yahoo backlink data, which is limited to 1,000 links.

  • Exact match type efforts are great.  For a single phrase.  Or longer tail phrases off of that.  As soon as you want to get ranked for variations that in their sum total require going beyond the exact match, they're not as valuable.  Especially if you need to start from scratch. On the other side of the coin, is all of the content on the existing site high enough quality AND truly relevant to your goals?  If it' snot and you need to scrap it, you're going to take a hit on those statistics anyhow. And on a final note - don't trust the PR numbers alone.  They're inaccurate at best, and at least months old.  Could very well be that the real PR (not the TBPR you're going by) is lower, especially after Panda/Farmer. Better to look at the traffic statistics on the site both current and historically compared.  If you don't have analytics to review, it's a crap-shoot.

  • Adam's right.  I don't expect Google's algorithms to know intent - if they did, then duplicate content between a www.domain.com and non-www version of that same site wouldn't be a problem. It's critical to obtain a broad range of links across a wide spectrum of site types, levels of site authority, and of course, vastly different C blocks.
