Hi Carl What to do now when Google have banned the site.. all the keywords is on page 6, is it possible to get the site back on the track again!!

Hi there Well, your page is still there in the SERPs (#11 searching from London), so that's the main thing! It could be an issue with the Moz crawler missing the page, or it could have been some short downtime on your site (best to double check that in webmaster tools if you have them set up - look for any crawl errors around Friday, where the rankings update).  Rank checkers can be a bit temprimental, Moz's included.  I know that they're working hard on the tool to improve it - it's pretty difficult considering that Google don't want sites/apps/programs scraping their results or data.  Some good reading on that topic can be found here, when Raven Tools stopped offering ranking positions. So given all that, every now and then you'll get errors and anomalies.  Try to supplement your data where you can with a couple of free alternatives - both Rank Checker Ace (cloud based) and Rankerizer (download) give you a free keyword ranking tool.  Run all three to get a stronger idea of rankings from different sources. Frustrating I know, but just as much for the Moz team and Google's awkward stance.  At the least most important thing is intact, and that's your site's actual position in the rankings!

HI Andriy the site is www.over50choices.co.uk the specific page is http://www.over50choices.co.uk/Health/Compare-Health-Insurance.aspx I have just plugged in the Quake Toolbar and see the KW density remains the same for all pages! Is this because the site is DNN CMS templated site - is there anything i can do to get the pages analysed as separate pages? Thanks Ash

Jeff's spot on. Come up with the briefest visitor readable URL that fits the proper understanding of the page identity along with its hierarchical relationship to content above it in that funnel. That's the URL that should be referenced in the canonical tag as well as links pointing to the page. If for some reason months or years later that URL needs to change (because the program name changes for some reason for example), then make that change and implement a 301 redirect to that new URL to pass any previously accumulated link value.

Sorry for the delay in responding. The holidays caught up with me! I'm not sure why OSE would still include those links so long after the site was taken down. Could you email help@moz.com and give our help team the details, so we can investigate and see if there's a bug? Thanks!

I doubt you are being penalized for links on forum sites. If it makes sense for people to be mentioning your site on those forums, then it makes sense that there is a link. On the other hand, if it is clear that the link placement was manipulative and added manually for the sole reason of getting the link, then you might have a problem. If you don't mind sharing your site url, I'd like to take a look in opensiteexplorer!

Thanks Rick. Unfortunately these are articles and blogs. None of them are actually FORUMS. I'm really looking for other SEO related forums where the members ask and answer questions for eachother, like here at the Moz Q&A Forum.... Any other suggestions?

Hey tcolling! Whatever you decide, I would guard against looking for a "good deal" in terms of price. REAL, quality link building efforts that have the potential to drive real results for you is not going to be cheap. If you have the budget, I would consult with Eric Ward before you do anything. He is THE expert in the field and can provide a great consultation for you that details the type of outreach and specific targets that will benefit your efforts the most. Eric had a quote somewhere that went something like this... Links can do 1 of 4 things: a) help search rankings b) help drive quality web traffic c)neither d)both I'd make sure whomever you use is focused on link acquisition efforts designed to do both. THOSE are the links that Google generally values the most anyways. There are many people who would be happy  (myself included) to provide link building services, but anyone who does it the RIGHT way will need a fairly large time investment to do so (especially since you are dealing with multiple sites). I would say $1000/month/site would be a realistic starting point for someone qualified to produce for you. Link building is no longer a manipulative task centered around manual link placement. It IS a process of outreach, networking, relationship building and research that (when done properly) can drive business to your sites, increase brand awareness and drive search rankings! This is a huge topic. If I was going to attack this... I would consider that you are talking about one variety of "PMS" or a "practice mangement software".  These are available for physicians, dentists, attorneys, accountants and many other types of professionals.  There are also management systems for blue collar industries. For this project my primary keyword would be "Medical practice management software" and then "system" or "solution" can be used as an add-on. A content attack on this could begin with an in-depth article of a few thousand words with photos, illustrations and art that depict screenshots, document samples, flow charts, data entry devices, portable data entry stations, etc. Think about some of the awesome posts that you see on the moz.com blog or a big wikipedia article. The typical PMS has many different abilities that are often sold as modules.  Their functions include appointment scheduling, insurance submission, billing, patient record management and many other facets.  Each of these many functions could be another page optimized for longer tail keywords that each have very monetizable search volume such as "medical billing software" and "patient record management system". Data entry devices and mobile data entry units can be several more content pages, each with substantive text, photos, screenshots and more.  Then there are decisions about having the software on a server in your office or a web-based solution.  Each has its advantages and disadvantages in terms of how you pay for it, updates, security and the types of equipment that is needed for your office - plus the level of on-site expertise that will be needed. Most people are trying to attack this, what might be a billion dollar industry, by tossing pages at it.  I would attack this niche with an entire website full of this stuff along with comparison charts of competing products and vendors.  The company who is willing to invest a  thousand person hours into a website like this... and then dedicates a good person to spend 1/2 of her/his time on keeping it updated could haul in buckets of dough.... and when they are finished with the physican's part they move right into the dental PMS market using the same template.
