Hello David, In the case of http://www.godirectappliance.com/ajax/product/quickview/id/734/ I would simply add a disallow statement for the/ ajax/product/quickview/ directory in the robots.txt file. I'm assuming the URLs to these pages are contained in javascript instead of href tags since they are hover-over pages so you don't have to worry about wasting pagerank by linking to pages that are being blocked. I'm not recommending a block at the /ajax/  or /ajax/product/ level at this point because I don't know what else is in those directories. It could be something you need Google to have access to in order to fully index a page.

I would also run their site or their client's site through Moz tools to see for yourself how well they do things.

Thanks everyone. Feedback much appreciated. I think I will go with a separate stylesheet which won't be responsive, but at least give IE8 users a better experience. If I see a high bounce rate or poor engagement with IE8 users, then I will probably add a overlay with browser message. Cheers, Alex

I agree with everyone above. I use tags for internal search which it is fantastic for, but I don't use it for SEO purposes

I see you on page 2 so at least you're moving up. Here's what I would suggest. Take out clothes drying rack out of your meta title and save that for the other page. That shouldn't be there anyway. You sell "laundry equipment that is handsome and strong," and your home page supports that with wringer washers, clotheslines, clothespins, etc., and not just drying racks. Also it appears to me that you are focusing on drying racks on your home page. Your reviews are about drying racks and you say "We are very proud of our laundry drying rack and other products." Why not just say "we are proud of our laundry equipment." If you're afraid of losing the rank you have, I wouldn't. You are on page 2 behind Target, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Amazon, etc., etc. What do you have to lose? At least test it. You can always put it back. BTW: There is a typo in one of your reviews: "clothes frying rack." I'm not sure as it stands it's a good review. I see this all the time with home pages cannibalizing subpages and have my own discussion going at http://moz.com/community/q/home-page-cannibal. The solution to yours seems a little more obvious than mine. Let's hope!

Here it does state that "if you're providing the same content to the same users on different URLs (for instance, if both example.de/ and example.com/de/ show German language content for users in Germany), you should pick a preferred version and redirect (or use the rel=canonical link element) appropriately." https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/182192?hl=en I think you've explained it nicely though.

Dominik, whenever you change URLs (domain names) from one to another, there are going to be issues that come up like this. When you redirect one domain name to another you pass on all of the history, links, and soforth to the new domain name. When you redirected the old domain name to the new one you combined the links of both domain names. And the new domain name could have a link profile that is not very good (or that was worse than the old domain name). I would take a look at all of the links of both domain names and perform a link audit to make sure that there aren't any links that you need to get removed or cleaned up.

Remember that a lot of links you had are now no longer, removed or disavowed you cant expect to rank the same. Also how long has it been since you had penalty lifted. It may take a while for all things to equal up again.

Can you provide details of the keyword in question? There are many search terms which Google never offer a video result for - simply because it wouldn't be relevant for the term in question. If i search "car insurance" I almost certainly don't want to see a YouTube video. The same is true with Google+ local results, shopping results etc... the explicit and implicit context of the search defines what sort of results are returned. If it's a search term which doesn't match up with what Google deem to be "appropriate" for a video result, you won't get a YouTube video ranked - no matter how strong the page is.
