Manual Webspam Error by Google!
Hi Jane, to clarify, the site had been hit heavily by Panda in 2011 and again in 2012 by Penguin. Both are prior to the manual spam action, so we are aware of the impact each has had. The purpose of the post was to see if anyone within the community has experienced a similar error in communication from Google and could recommend a course of address. We are also aware of the backlink profile and manipulated anchors, but would like to thank you for your analysis. Regarding the miscommunication, we have decided to approach a few individuals from the webspam team on Google + for a resolution. Thanks again for your input : ) M.

What should I do with a large number of 'pages not found'?
I would leave the pages up but mark them as "no follow". When I worked in eCommerce, this was a great tactic. For UX purposes, you could try to steer people to similar-products, but keep the originating page as "no follow" or "no index".

Blog Location
Hi Sara, If you are keen to get more traffic through the news stories and the main blog link, it's definitely a mistake to move it, just from a usability perspective... I agree with Andy that stats like you're seeing for these links in Analytics suggest that you can make an improvement to the page to increase the click through rate if. The effect of a link being above or below the fold is probably negligible when it comes to PageRank passed (with the exception of footer links, which appear to be devalued).

Why blocking a subfolder dropped indexed pages with 10%?
The thing is that I am checking indexed pages on a regular basis and usually the fluctuations are not big, only changes few pages. But never such manny pages. The traffic from organic did drop, but just slightly and rankings were never affected. But as you said, I will keep an eye on this.

Does omitted results shown by Google always mean that website has duplicate content?
It might go to supplemental index when: Content is not unique. No content at all or with very little content. You have pages, not determined to have content initially, such as sitemap, contact, Terms and Conditions, etc. Pages that don’t have titles/meta descriptions or have duplicate ones.

Simple on-site SEO - bet practice for keywords in content
Try not just focusing on the exact keyword but also closely related keywords. If the article is well written and picks up good social traction , you might end up ranking for different closely related keywords, not just the main keyword.

Does building multiple websites hurt you seo wise? Good or bad strategy?
Also, be sure to read Craigslist's terms and conditions for frequency of posting, and where you can post pets. If people think you are a puppy mill, you're likely to have your ads quickly flagged.

Do citations count as backlinks?
Hi Berner, Good question and some thoughtful answers here. I'll chime in with my 2 pesos. A citation is defined as a web-based reference to a local business' complete or partial NAP (name, address, phone). A citation does not have to include a link the company website. For example, a blogger could mention your restaurant's name and address, leave out the phone number and not link to the restaurant's website and that would still count as a citation, meaning that the business owner must be certain that the blogger has accurately published the restaurant's name and address. On more standardized platforms, like local business directories, nearly all allow you to include a link to your website. This does count as a link, but whether it is nofollowed or not is up to the individual directory. So, this does bear on how much 'juice' a given link is passing your way. Regardless, if your business is a local one, citations are a core part of the work you will be doing to promote your business on the Internet. If your business model isn't truly local, then citations aren't really meant for you. I think you'll really enjoy reading the great section in the new Moz Local Learning Center that covers the ins and outs of citations. Tons of great resources here for you: http://moz.com/learn/local/listings Hope this will help, and kudos to all on the good responses on this thread!
